Hmmm, well you can play whatever you're most happy with of course Narsel. But just to let you know if case you didn't, the character you last described, a sorcerer with bluff and charm skills, will be echoing to a large degree what Zalen already has going on....
But I think we have most of the bases covered anyway so there bound to be some duplication.
Huh, i had not noticed that. From the IC threads last posts, i had the impression that he was pure rogue. Guess i will have to give this character some more thoughts today. It will still be finished today.
I'm still thinking sorcerer but maybe more blaster minded.
EDIT: Changed the bloodline and some magics, so he doesn't resemble Zalen so much.
He's still selling his fake potions, tricking people and writing graffiti with arcane mar, though.

Grunhild |

I just thought I would make myself known in this thread also. I present to you Grunhild, dwarven seeker of knowledge and secrets extraordinaire! Ok, so he's maybe not that fantastic but sometimes it's fun to go against the grain.
In any case, one suggestion I have for integrating my character into the party would be that he's curious about the identity of those that saved Trinia from decapitation (ie Blackjack and the PCs) and he seeks them out. Then again, if he manages to find the PCs, why wouldn't the authorities find them as well ?
Maybe somebody else has a better idea ?

heya, my computer died horribly. I'm posting this from work but I can't use work computers for big posts or updates. I thought it was a simple issue at first, but it's not. Something went through and burnt out the modem and motherboard. Nice.
Will hopefully be up and running for updates again on weekend.
Cheers

That certainly sounds better. I had never really planned on Zalen being too much of blaster (although of course he'll have some offensive spells). His magic will mainly be used to aid his roguishness.
Without a wizard we'll still be short a utility caster, but with two sorcerers, two clerics and a bard, we should be fine. Plus of course there's always scrolls and wands.
@Grunhild: Maybe you could simply be a wandering cousin of Gern's, come to check out the big city and see your cousin and childhood friend you haven't seen for decades?
@Narsel: Don't know if you had already planned on any ideas on how to join the party (and obviously much will depend on how the next chapter begins) but an idea that came to mind was that maybe Zalen could be one of Narsel's customers? Maybe even a disgruntled one? =D
@Elian: Your plan sounds perfect to me. : )
Looking forward to having you all in the game! = )

Khaladon |

Ok well feel free to throw me any ideas you have and I can work Z in wherever you want.
@Grunhild & Narsel: On another note, I was thinking that, with only three limited arcane casters in the party-Two Sorcerers and a Bard, maybe we should be comparing notes on our spell selection to avoid as much spell overlap as possible?

rolling for Gern's new hit points for the level up 1d10 ⇒ 7.
Will update my character page as required.
In the process of levelling him. Won't be finished till mid week I think.
Cheers
Edit: - put the point available into strength (made some hefty changes I can tell you)
Bonus fighter feat is Blind Fight
Skills spent in Knowledge Dungeoneering, and swim.

TN
According to your wealth per level +2000 Gern should have gear worth 8000gp.
I plan on aquiring the following for him
Update masterwork shield to +1 magical (1000)
Update masterwork axe to +1 magical (2000)
Replace masterwork armour fully with +1 magical full plate (2650). I didn't sell my old arour, just wrote it off.
Purchase cloak of resistance (1000)
already have a potion of cure (300)
That's a total of 6950gp.
I figure we've spent close to 1000 in expendables throughout game.
Are these purchases ok by you?
Cheers

@Grunhild: Maybe you could simply be a wandering cousin of Gern's, come to check out the big city and see your cousin and childhood friend you haven't seen for decades?
That could certainly work but he'd probably be a distant cousin from a different dwarven settlement. Or at least they had very different upbringing. That's mostly because I'm not an english native speaker and, as such, I would have a hard time replicating Wrath's 'pseudo Scottish' dwarven speak :).
@Grunhild & Narsel: On another note, I was thinking that, with only three limited arcane casters in the party-Two Sorcerers and a Bard, maybe we should be comparing notes on our spell selection to avoid as much spell overlap as possible?
Here's what I have right now:
2nd-Calm Emotions (DC 15), Sound Burst (DC 15)1st—Grease (DC 14), Hideous Laughter (DC 14), Identify, Summon Monster I
0—Detect Magic, Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Prestidigitation, Read Magic.
I can still modify it a bit as needed. I don't think there's any duplicate here, except maybe for the 0 levels.

Narsel Fachey |

I don't think there are any important overlaps either.
0-level dc 14
Dancing lights, detect magic, Arcane mark, Disrupt undead, Prestidigitation, Daze
1-level dc 15
Burning hands (5d4+5, dc 16, CL 5), Ray of enfeeblement(1d6+4), mage armor, Silent image
2-level dc 16
Scorching ray (4d6+4)

Zalen's pretty much done.
Stat point went into Chr
I took the 3/4 HP as I seem to recall we were doing Terra, but I can roll if you want me to.
Class bonus went to 1 extra HP
Basically all I have to still do is finish his purchases.
Oh and hey, Terra, are we still using Harrow Points? And if so, how many do we have now?
And guys, spells look A-ok. I had meant though it's something we should continue to do in the future to :)
And to Terra and the Original Crew, I just came up with an Idea for what to do with Lamm's old warehouse. Let me know what you think!
And Terra, could you give me some idea on how much it would be renovate Zella's house, say to expand it giving each of the kids and Zalen their own rooms? And how long that would take? And how much it would be to hole them all up in an inn for the duration?
If that's all too much to ask though just tell me where I can find that info and I'll do it myself. :)

Hi, I was away for a little while and had no access to the internet.
I'm hoping Zerlix will integrate well, he's come to Korvosa beleiving that a great challenge awaits him, something mighty and unnatural that he desires to do battle with. As such he's ready and willing to join up with adventurers, in fact he's openly seeking them out.
Who could reccommend him to seek out the party?

![]() |

Hey there. Just a quick reply (horrible time crunch right now. I'll get you updated tomorrow. Sorry)
You can take 3/4th HP. If you prefer you can still roll, but its binding if you do.
Narsel: "The Tiger" is the best lead you currently have. Who exactly is hidden behind the name is unclear, but maybe the Shoanti can help you figure that one out :)

For those who hadn't found it yet, the new thread is live.
Part two, seven days to the grave
TN put grey instead of grave in the heading, not sure if that was typo or some ominous reference to later events hehe.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in game.
Cheers

Khaladon |

Hey Terra, before I reply to Elian's post, i was still waiting to hear your thoughts on Zalen's plans to renovate the house and move everyone to an inn for safety. Unlike all the rest of the Group, Zalen does not have the protection of family or a church over him, and he is responsible for the lives of several children
Also, to the original gang, haven't heard anything from anyone on the idea of the re-establishing the Candorian Trading Concern. (or will we not have time for that sort of thing with this adventure path?)

![]() |

Heya Khal,
Gern has some concerns about our current venture involving Helvarra and co. let alone starting another one. However, he would approach his uncle on your behalf if you need capital or investors to back your play.
It's not something I as a player will invest alot of time in sorry, but it could be interesting for you as background if Gern's family are involved. It also gives TN a good hook at any time he needs it to get me involved in the business if needs be.
Cheers

Khaladon |

Ok, cool!
For ANY who are interested
Not sure how much detail you'd want to get into Terra...and it could all be done in a Breakaway thread if you prefer...but I was thinking we could gloss over much of it and it'd most of the time just be working in the background, and only coming into the main game thread once in a while?
And for the new gang, if any of you are into the idea, once Zalen gets to know and trust them, I'm sure he'd be interested in taking on more partners to further expand things...of course that may automatically discount Narsell then ^-^
Basically though, unless anyone has a better idea, Zalen the Emporium would be mainly into trade, procuring items of interest from outside the city and selling them to eager city folk. And the same in reverse of course. And he'd likely be specializing in Shoanti items, being half-their blood and speaking their language himself (Ah, I do miss our big and big hearted Ayedah sometimes).
While Ayen and the kids can all be involved in the biz, for now he'll need someone older and experienced he can trust to help him start up and take care of things when he's on the road.
Terra, would there be any of Zalen father's old connections or friends who might fit in this roll?

Khaladon |

New game rule: Following this post I'll only respond to OOC comments in that handy OOC thread we have
I am the worst transgressor of this habit in this game, so once again, my sincerest apologies. Part of the problem is that in several games I'm in not many people seem to check the OOC as often. But that's no excuse as I already know very well how you feel about it Terra. So I can only say again, Sorry!
Here's my last OOC post, now in it's proper location.
So whenever you say Terra we'll hook up and share tales, as Elian suggested. And also Gern, don't forget that you'll have a share of the income from the Candorean Emporeum as well.
When Terra is able to tell us how much we made this day I'll let everyone know how much we made. I am going to assume though that Zalen had needed to put every single coin he had left into the venture. So he's currently at Zero too.
As for Eel's End Terra, maybe an easier way to keep track would be just to tell us how much a week we get and then let us know each time a week has gone by?

Khaladon |

Well, this was certainly never a planned or foreseen direction when the game began, but as Zalen did grow up as the son of a merchant, if Terra were willing to allow him to either change an exist skill point or use one from the next level, I'd be happy to put a Rank into it.
Or as an alternative, maybe Owen or one or two of the kids could gain a rank or two in it?

Terra, I have to appologise as I promised you I would be staying with you for the long haul. However, some real life issues have come up which means my online gaming has to come to a halt. I regretfully have to pull out of your game (and indeed all my pbp's).
This is the second time I've done this to you TN, and I can't appologise enough. Hopefully it won't affect your game too badly.
Feel free to do with Gern as you will.
Cheers

Wrath: Since I'm only keeping this together by wishing really hard and cutting corners wherever possible, I fully understand what you mean. I thank you for your time, and especially for covering for me in the roughest patch. :)
Khaladon: I expected to see Ayen grow into this role, personally. She's got decent Intelligence, Charisma, and all the trappings. :)
All: The harrowing itself will take some time - which currently I don't really have. I'll try to get the result up tomorrow, but it might take an extra day.

Khaladon |

No worries Terra, take your time.
Having Ayen take over is fine with me (of course the evil little schemer will probably end up stealing the business from Zalen at some point! ;-)
As for Wrath, I've already said my farewells to him on another game so don't think I'm ignoring him. : )

Khaladon |

To answer Alandra's question myself, I'm honestly not sure what Zellara's talking about either! lol
Hopefully Zalen will figure something out ;-)
Was my birthday today so tired from the celebrations, when I can think again tomorrow afternoon, I will post Zalen's answer. Sorry for my absence, Holiday, a move...that kind of stuff. All good now though : )
Manana!

![]() |

Uhm... I'm doing a little roll call now. Who's still here and interested in continuing the game? I've noticed a significant drop in post length, content and interaction lately - as well as several players not posting. :(
I know we lost some key players, and the "new guys" are not solidly on board yet, but I'm still up for this game if you are.

Khaladon |

Definitely here and here to stay. Was busy a bit at the beginning of the year so my posting rate may have dropped then but should be fine now.
I think we may just be off to a slower start this time around but I think most if not all of us are wanting to keep going. At least I hope so!

Well, it's been a week since I last updated. Not for lack of looking at the site. But for lack of being able to. I'm sorry to have to say this, but this isn't working. I can't drag you by the nose through the plot.
Grunhild, very sorry you came to this group as it entered its last leg. We've managed one module, which is more than most PbPs can claim - they tend not to get past the first two scenes. :)
I try not to see this too negatively, and chiefly remember the positive sides. Thanks for playing with me, and sticking around as long as you did.
