Oooh Loot! =D
I just wish Zalen's Player was as smart as Gern's is (ya, um Duh, maybe Search the guy Z before putting him in the box? Hey! What are you giving Me guff for 'Khaladon'?! You're the one who Writes me! Hmmm, you do have a point there...whadya say we blame it on trying to be creative while tired and call it a truce, deal? grumble...grumble...ok deal. But write me Smarter next time! )
;-)
As for the divvying...Krek, that suit of armor would certainly make you look more official...if you can fit into it of course. I guess it might suit/fit Ayedah too?
I Know our little dagger fiend will have her eye on that magical knife so my vote is she gets it.
as for the other stuff? Whoever wants and/or has the best use of it?
none of it really suits Zalen though so enjoy kids! =D
And after we've divided up the loot can we say we are going with our plan to the meat shop Terra? Before we actually get there though might I suggest Z take a quick scout of the place first? You can feel free to roll for me Terra to speed things along

Woohoo, Phat loot!
I'm thinking we probably need to get most fo you fully healed upbefore the trip. Whether by magic means or by recouping overnight. Ayedah was dropped to negatives so she'll need a fair bit of care.
How do you guys normally divvy up the loot?
Cheers
Edit: never mind, just read the last two posts on the thread about loot. I don't use a spear or a bow at this stage so they're up for grabs (or for general sale if no one wants em). My dex mod is only+1 so using a bow won't do me much good. Ah well, ce la vie.

Khaladon |

Terra, I was just waiting to hear from Krek or Ayedah as to which of them wanted to put on the armor and also as to if Ayedah is well enough to travel yet or if there's anything Krek or Alandra might be able to do to help heal her a bit... but I'll IC it just ta make you happy : )

![]() |

We need to search it, maybe there's some paper work they left, or the leader had a secret stash or something. At least we won't be dying in there :)
We might find more clues as to the mysterious woman Varlik was talking about. We might also find the names of some of those that fled and bring them to justice later.
Just my thoughts at least. Will post Gern's in character summation of the same later.
Cheers

Valkyrie Paine |

Ah well... sorry about my post qulaity as of late... tired, spend and still a little sick. I Will do better once we start off the last scene, promise
Don't worry! Take it easy for a while if you have to. :)
I'm guessing we're done with these guys, but I just wanted to be certain that we wouldn't be wanted by the guard from here on out. Even if those fake guards couldn't make out many of the details, a dwarf, a half-orc, and two and a half Shoantis probably stand out. ;)

Valkyrie Paine |

Whatever happend to "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."? ;)
I just think a few extra precautions along with all that can't hurt is all! ;)
Even the new recruits I plan to bring aboard for 7DttG
*gasp*
excited

Regarding Verik:
He had not been all bad. he's done monstrous things in the past, and had a nasty habit of looking the other way when he might otherwise have seen things he'd rather not see. But he had tried to make up for some of his sins, and redress some of his wrongs.
None of you will have alignment or other trouble over this. Kroft more or less declared him fair game, so the city guard will not dig too deeply once they find him. Alandra had a legitimate vendetta against him, and for what he did to her, he probably deserved this kind of punishment, too. But a paladin or other true good person might wonder what might have been, had he not been surrounded by such monstrosity. ;)
Yeah, I like shades of gray in my stories, and Verik just fell in line perfectly.

Valkyrie Paine |

But a paladin or other true good person might wonder what might have been, had he not been surrounded by such monstrosity. ;)
Well Ayedah's certainly going to lose sleep over it. :) I'm trying to play her as good as a paladin, just without the lawfulness.
Unless someone destroys the note or pockets it, I'll take it before we leave.
But seriously, poor Alandra...

![]() |

Gern won't be losing much sleep over it I'm afraid. He's a kind of black and white guy. Verik had wronged Alandra in the past, enough that she wanted him dead. That was enough for him.
Feeling sorry because you went down a path that caused death and pain to many innocent people doesn't stop the death and pain as far as Gern is concerned :).
The letter caught me by suprise too actually TN, but it really gave me a chance to concrete a moral code in Gern that may never have otherwise turned up.
Cheers

Aye Lass, there's nae betta' way te get te know ye travellin' companions than te down a pint or two o' the ol' bitter ale. Although twill be early mornin' like as not when we gets tha chance te be doin some talkin' amongst ourselves. Mayhap we need te be drinkin' somat a bit more on tha weaker side, mead perhaps, or maybe some o' that duck's water tha human's call beer. Errr, nae offence intended to tha present company mind.

Gern Hammerfold |

"Hehe, it's always good ter drink with mates. An ye humans are sure layin' inter it nice and thick. Tell ye what, now we've all had a round o' the old standard, why don't ye let me get ye a drink worthy o' tha group as laid ol' Lamm te rest.
"Waitress, a round o' Stonnards Firebelly whisky if ye will."
"What's tha' ye say? One fer me? Nay lass, one o' us had better keep their wits about 'em, so's I can see these ones home. Best make mine another Pint o' the Dwarven bitter"
Gern would happily get you all very inebriated, its something dwarves do :) Mind you, it might send him broke doing so hehe

Khaladon |

Yup! Read closely, Z already stated his action to open the door once all were ready. He's bravely cowering behind it now as he pokes his head around to peek.
(And, since I knew he'd be pretty ineffective against them, I thought it'd be a nice chance to have some of our heavy hitters take the limelight ;-)

![]() |

Ok, Gern's wound is not that hard, and since this is the last encounter of the slaughterhouse, I figured skipping damage wouldn't hurt.
The claws are the good part. Seriously, get a halfway qualified butcher to them, and they'll be lot some good money. Of course, you may want to eat them yourself, they're really good.
Oh, by the way, did you know Reefclaws are aberrations, have int 5 and usually understand common? >:-)

![]() |

Ewwww, eating aberent flesh! And chewing down on self aware creaturs is a bit.....off putting. Oh well, lucky Gern doesn't care.
I'll suggest we take the meat to a butcher for sale then. If the authorities track the meat back to the slaughter house and then link that to us, I proprose we use our earlier story and add to it. When we arrived at the place it was strangely deserted. We checked it out to make sure there wasn't anything dodgy going on and found the reeflclaws fanging on the meat. We decided to sell the meat to try and recover losses from the failed preservative delivery.
Do you need me to put that in character TN? If people like the idea, it's actually more realisitic that one of the others come up with it than it is for Gern to suggest it. He's just not that intelligent.
Cheers

Khaladon |

Another great idea Wrath and sure, Z can suggest it to the group. Also, if I'm understanding Terra correctly, we are done (at least for now) with the Slaughterhouse. It seems that as there are no further clues to the whereabouts of the other guards we'll have to leave it at that for now and report back to Commander Kroft...as for the reefclaws...hmm, ya know what? I'll just IC it ;-)

Zalen Candorian |

Hey Terra, I don't know if you've already started recruiting yet, but I just wanted to remind you that from next level on, Z will be multi-classing to Sorcerer pretty much from now on, may throw a couple more rogue levels in there, we'll see... : )
When is that happening btw? Remember also I was planning/hoping for a dramtic moment for it to come about...if it's soon, maybe Zalen will start having headaches or those strange dreams again....or both ;-)

Valkyrie Paine |

I tried to post last night, but the forums seemed to be dead for most of it. Have there been more server problems lately?
Oh, by the way, did you know Reefclaws are aberrations, have int 5 and usually understand common? >:-)
:0
I was actually getting hungry for seafood up until that!
Oh well, Ayedah won't know until someone tells her. Then she'll lose her appetite! ;) She just thinks they're weird sea animals.
I wonder if five guys on the loose probably holding a grudge against us will be coming back to haunt us...
Nah!

![]() |

Of course they are not cooked alife - that would be unreasonably dangerous to the cook.
No, usually they are baited with half a oow or something the like. The fishermen wait until they have clamped on the meat securely, haul them to the boat and sever their claws with an axe. The Reefclaw falls back to the sea, where it bleeds out or starves or something like that. The fishermen need to do it in 1 or 2 strikes, though, or the reefclaw lets go of the meat, and massacres the crew.

Valkyrie Paine |

Well, we definitely have a score to settle with Devargo...but I had been thinking we'd be better off doing it as 3rd levelers...are we close yet? And we Do still have to report to Kroft...don't we?
We don't want to go charging in either when we do get to 3rd level. I'd really like to find out if the folks at the brothel can weather whatever storm comes down if we manage to take Devargo down. We're pretty much putting them out of business, aren't we? I wonder if they and the gambling den make enough money to pay their vice taxes. Maybe they could take over management of Eel's End?
And yeah, we really should get back to Kroft before that. She's probably worried sick! ;)

Ayedah |

Hmm. Not a clean enough kill. Ours will probably taste better since we slew them well and respectfully.
Wow, they're nastier than I thought. I had been imagining them as just big, aggressive lobsters.

Alright then: Everyone, Level up to 3.
Zalen: I've got a little thing involving a girl planned for you to discover your sorcerous powers. I don't know if it'll be your cup of tea, so I won't play it up too much and try to fly by ear so to speak. If it is not, feel free to just discover your powers along the way.
I'll post a little bridge back to the citadel for you, to debriefing and so on. After that, I understand you want to use one of your ~2-3 days of downtime to go after Eel's end again?
The downtime is pretty short, do you want to break away for it, or is that overdoing things? I am taking suggestions.

![]() |

I'm in a few Pbp now TN (despite trying to only focus on one intiially <sigh>, it's like a drug). Anyway, I'm not sure how I'll go tracking two threads for this game (ie. a breakaway and a main). However, I'm happy enough to go along with the flow of the group.
When we level, do you have any special rule for hitpoints when we roll? Is it standard what you roll is what you get, OR roll, but less than half means take half OR is it just half maximum and don't roll?
Cheers
Edit. Hehehe i originally replied to this in the game thread, but then you moved it here. Confused me no end when I replied and then you had different post in game :)

![]() |

Levelled him up.
Rolled a 3 for hit points but still managed to get to 33 :),
Put a rank in knowledge dungeoneering, took cleave as a feat. I picked up Armour training as a class trait.
Overall, Gern is looking much tougher now than he did at level 1 (Woot).
TN can we just assume that Gern gets introduced to the captain of the guard or do you want ot rollplay it out. I'm happy enough to just hand wave things in order to progress things faster.
Cheers

Valkyrie Paine |

If it's going to be a short downtime, I definitely don't mind keeping it in the main thread if that makes it easier for everyone.
And woo! 3rd level. I'll be updated ASAP.
When we drop the reefclaw claws at....oh...ha...when we drop them off at Gern's aunt's house, will there be time to escort Plum and her friend out of town?
