Latro slashes and sends the needle-esque appendage flying off the stirge's face.
After the splat of the body, the only sound in the hallway is your breathing. Away in the distance you hear the faint flap of wing or maybe it's just the wind. Up ahead the area is choked with rubble, but passable.
"If someone can do a healing assist, it'd be appreciated. I'm a bit wounded."
"Let's go carefully and move forward slowly. I don't want to run into any of these beasties without warning again."
"Let me go in front, those skeeters can't penetrate dwarven skin"
Latro will be at full after one surge, as will Kava, and Anmuspi too.
Anmuspi and Latro -
"Thanks Rolf. Your healing word was just what I needed."
Latro takes a look around to see if he can make out anything of the newly revealed room. He suddenly starts looking furtively around.
"Hey. What's that? Who's making fun of me? I know I was moaning a bit while I was hurt, but c'mon. They were my first battle wounds. Wait. That moaning is coming from both in front AND behind me. And I don't see anyone dragging stuff, but I'm sure hearing it. What the name of Sehanine is going on? Can anybody else hear that moaning and dragging?
Hey folks, I'm having computer issues of the "need a new one" variety. Hopefully the situation will be resolved in a day or two, so keep checking the thread and I'll let you know.
It's cool I'm back! We got a new lappy tonight; expect a post tomorrow.
Kava
Latro
Anmuspi confirms hearing the noise, but he says there's no movement from this direction.
"I don't hear it anymore either. I'm all for fast adventuring because it's great fun. But, I agree with brave Lady Kava. I think we should move cautiuosly. I don't like this one bit."
Latro moves in front of Kava to see what he can see.

"Well there seems to be something before us and behind us but it is not attacking. I think it is best to move forward room by room and deal with things as best we can. I would not be surprised however if it was all a trick." Kava says in hushed tones to the group. She follows Latro into the stirge's room.
Stirge droppings crumble beneath Kava's feet. The lair stinks and is littered with remnants of the stirges past victims, mostly small animal bones, but also bits of clothing and rusted weapons that would indicate humanoids. Shining the light into the passage to the north reveals another straight tunnel culminating at a door, and there is an intersecting tunnel about 50 feet closer than that.
"Well. Do we go up the hall to the right? Or do we go back to the hallway across from the front doors? Rolf? Anmuspi? A'Loran? Any thoughts?"

"I'm always up for a good adventure! Get it? Up? You're gonna boost me up! But....I'm a little worried about what might be up there. Boost away brave Lady Kava, but be prepared to catch me when I jump back down.
Kava boosts the halfling, who scrambles to her shoulders and, on his tip-toes, tentatively grabs the stone that still forms part of the cieling. Finding that it still holds, Latro pulls his head up while Kava tries to steady him from below.
Latro
"Thanks for the boost Kava! What wonderous stars!! But where are you moon? I can see the whole roof from up here. It looks like it's mostly there. I think there may have been a tower in the center at some point, but it's gone now. I don't see any stirges up here though. They must have flown away.
"Okay Kava. You can put let me down now. Nothing else to see up here. And I don't want to go walking around up here either."
Latro whispers, "I'll try to go quietly Lady Kava. With the bright light behind me, there's no hiding to be had!"
Latro picks his way down the hallway, moving slowly as to avoid stepping on any broken stones, leaves, and other debris that might create noise and alert any enemies to the party's presence.
Move up to beside Kava.
"be careful Latro."
A'loran readys his staff and keeps a watchful eye for danger.
A'loran leans towards Kava "this place is giving me the creeps"
Latro ventures a little way down the hall, and nothing jumps out at him.
Latro peeks over shoulder and gives Kava and Rolf the "thumbs up" sign. He continues to pick his way carefully up the hallway. When he reaches the alcove, he again looks over his shoulder, raises his finger to his lips in the universal sign of "shhhh," and then peeks around the corner.
Latro moves to the opening and sees that it's another hallway leading off into darkness.
Latro returns to his companions. He tells of the hallway going into the darkness.
"I suggest we check out that hallway first. Although there's a pair of doors in front of us, we don't want anything getting behind us. Any other thoughts?"
"Lead away. I'll be right behind you."
Latro moves to keep up with Kava.
Rolf moves with the group
Will keep pace with the cleric. Trying his best to keep quite.
Kava illuminates a long hall that must run the width of the monastary. There are open doorways in the north and south walls about 20 feet away and another pair is about 90 feet away. At the center of the monastary the hallway becomes wider, and may intersect with the hall you saw at the dragon-arch. This central hub is choked with rubble and the cieling is gone. And there appears to be another hallway going north to south along the eastern wall.
Kava and Latro
"Kava. Keep on your toes. I hear that moaning again. Let's move up and check out those new hallways.
Down the hall, you can hear a man talking. "...I swear, this sunrod is defective. Once we get back to town, I'll have to have a talk with him. *Whooo* Oh yes, I know I should be better organized, you don't need to keep telling me. Oh wait, people." With that, a man in obviously new leather armor steps out from an alcove down the path with an owl on his shoulder, his arms raised. He doesn't seem that interesting, although his eyes do seem somewhat brighter than they should.
"So, would any of you happen to know Douven Stahl?"
