Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas took a slower look, pondering about the odds of Lamm keeping this boat around if it's just a useless hulk. "Odd it's so simple, criminals like Lamm are infamous for keeping 'secret spaces' in holds like this"
I am trying to figure out if the size of the hold matches the size of the deck. Also, if there are any kind of concealed trapdoors or such (I don't touch anything, though, just run a slow visual)
If necessary:
Search Roll (1d20 3=16)

Liberty's Edge

Andreas scans the room with his light, searching every corner or it. You see crates and barrels, old dirty scraps of blankets and mildew ridden straw. The floor of the boat has many small holes in it, its surprising that this thing still floats, nothing out of the ordinary strikes you as an trapdoor though. Along the walls you see nothing of interest until you come to the side of the wall facing the fishery, something catches your eye but your not sure from the distance you stand from it.

At the mention of this, Hal also scans the deck and walls of the boat. Spot check: 15.

As you look at where Andreas shines his light you see what he points out, something odd about the way the wood of the boat around that section looks. The boat creaks a little as larger waves lap up against it, this causes the spiders to stir and one even climbs up onto one of the crates glaring at Thelix and Inros who are the closes to it.....

to the othersThere is something behind the spiders. "Can any of you do something to drive them away or should we just burn the boat and hope that Lamm goes down with it?"

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix, tired of the nasty looking spiders looking at him, decides to play exterminator. He casts Shield of Faith, then swings at the nearest nasty with his greatsword.

Initiative (1d20=3)

Attack Roll (1d20 2=17)

Damage (2d6 1=8)

Thelix's armor class is now 17 for the next minute.

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

"That odd shape is in the wall facing the fishery. Knowing Lamm, this boat may be a sort of emergency exit or a front for smuggling stuff. We should get rid of these spiders and explore carefully, if we catch him from his back door, we won't get so lucky again". After making his tirade, Andreas got ready to illuminate his companions, so that they had no problem when facing the vermin.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros has nothing to offer but steel, so he swings at the spider nearest him.

Init 1d20 3=5

attack 1d20 1=21 ooh, critical threat

confirm crit 1d20 1=2 really? are you kidding me?

damage 1d8=1 oh invisible castle, why do you torment me so?

Liberty's Edge

The spider on top of the crate jumps up and attacks Inros, trying to bite him with its deadly fangs. It nips his arm as Inros swats at it with his sword taking two of its legs. A shimmering light surrounds Thelix as his god answers his prayer for protection. The noise of the fight draws out another furious spider which gets smooched under Thelix's great sword. You can hear a third spider behind the crates still. The spider who attacked Inros is trying to hobble away as fast as it can for cover.....

Hal draws his dagger and hurls it at the fleeing spider rather than get in range of its poison.

Initiative:23

Attack roll: 13

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix uses his foot to kick aside a crate where the shuffling noise is coming from to get at the last beast, and destroy any young or eggs hiding out there "I hate spiders" he mutters under his breath.

Strength Check (If needed)

(1d20 1=2) (Sweet!)

Attack (1d20 2=7) (Hmm!)

"Gorum protect me! but guide my sword as well; so I might carry out your will". Thelix screams in frustration.

Andreas unsheathes his dagger and gets ready to swing in case any spider comes in range, but does not move to avoid creating wavy shadows for his fellows.
Initiative (1d20 2=19)
Ready action

Moving quickly, Sun Fei attacks the nearest spider, annoyed at the distraction from their hunt. Her strike is true and splatters the spider across the wall.

Init, atk spider, dmg (incl punishing stance) (1d20 3=21, 1d20 3=15, 1d10 2 1d6=12)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

"Damn these sickening things. I'd swear Lamm is sending these things after us!"

I'll swing at any spider left crawling around....
1d20 1=11

1d8=2

Liberty's Edge

The chittering of the spiders is getting louder, Hal throws a dagger at the wounded spider, it whizzes past the spider as it is scurrying towards the crates for safty, it never makes it though with a flash Sun squishes the nasty monster insect with her blade. Andreas with the light source in one hand and a dagger in the other keeps an eye on things, ready to be of help to any of his new friends. He sees Thelix kick a small crated aside and swing at empty space, no spider behind that one. You can hear the spider heading away from you fast to your left. Inros tries to make an attack but starts to feel a little weird, your vision starts to blurs and your legs feel week. Sorry should have told you last post that you took 1 hp of damage and need to make a fort. save against the spiders poison. Hopefully invisible castle is better to you today!!

current hit points is now at 4 of a max 8

Inros braces himself against the nearest wall and shakes his head, trying to clear his vision and get strength back into his legs.

Fort save 1d20 2=18

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix whirls quickly swinging at the movement he sensed from the corner of his eye.

Attack Roll (1d20 2=3)

With a muttered curse and a scowl. Thelix stops a moment to remove the remnants of the small crate from the end of his greatsword, and blink away the flour that descended upon him when the crate shattered on the overhead beam. Hmm fighting in such close quarters is not the best application of the overhead chop with a 5' long sword.

Sun Fei has just as hard a time as Thelix as her sword misses any spider horribly.

atk spider, dmg w/punishing stance (1d20 3=5, 1d10 2 1d6=6)

Liberty's Edge

Multiple attacks on the spider miss as the spider races between the crates and barrels for protection which serves it well.

Inros after a few moments starts to feel better and more like himself as his body fights off the very small amount of poison that entered his him.

"If the spider remains back there we should leave it. Why fight something that has no gold? Instead, we should keep looking for Lamm."

"Let's have a plan for when we find him. I am best at attacking foes from angles of weakness. Some of you can cast spells and others seem to eviscerate anything in your way. If Lamm is alone, we should surround him and chop away. But I doubt he will be alone."

"Do any of you have ideas on how best to slay him?"

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

"If you swordspeople keep an eye on those scuttling vermin things, I think that Hal and I should better examine that strange shape in the wall we noticed before, I have a feeling about this derelict boat..."

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix determined to destroy the stupid spider keeps hacking away.

Attack (1d20 2=3)

Thelix roars in frustration, as his Greatsword firmly lodges itself in an overhead beam. He stamps his feet and leaves the uncooperative sword where it is stuck and decides just to punch the wily beast with his spiked gauntlet. Maybe Gorum wanted him to feel the squashing of the beast more personally.

(Thelix is pitching a tantrum, covered in flour and with his sword stuck in an overhead beam. Perhaps Lamm will think he is a insane ghost and throw himself overboard.)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

"I agree. This boat is certainly suspicious. We can cover you two while you check out the wall."

Inros Har wrote:

Hal retrieves his dagger from the floor and places it back in its sheath. He looks at Andreas as if to ask "are you ready?" and begins the search the odd section of wall.

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas follows Hal, holding the lamp high and trying to remember the place where he noticed the odd shape some moments before.

Sun Fei remains ready to attack while the others check the wall.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

OOC: I'm out of town on a business trip so please feel free to play Thelix as needed, as I'll have spotty posting time. He is rather spoiled and obstinate, and will keep attacking the spider with his spiked gauntlet until either he or the spider are dead. Then he'll join the others in their quest for Lamm. This is important to Thelix, he just gets a bit carried away sometimes.

Hal gets as close to the wall as he can while still allowing space to turn and fight if something pops up.

Search : 17

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas gets next to Hal, trying to signal the oddity he noticed in the walls shape before.

Thelix smashes into another crate shattering it to pieces, he gives out a shout of fustration at not seeing the stupid spider again. Meanwhile, Hal and Andreas work together trying to find the hidden lever or whatever it is that looks odd along the wall. They are rewarded for their hard work as they find a latch that will open a secret door out of the boat. Standing right next to the door with the light source close, you can make out the lines of the door. Behind you you hear another crash and a cry of victory as Thelix finally corners the spider and squashes it.

I will be out of town attending Gen Con the rest of this week, my plane leaves in 7 hours WOOT! I am going to try my hardest to keep up with the game, I will have my laptop with me and the hotel is supposed to have free wi-fi so keep checking here.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix shouts with a triumphant voice "Ha mighty foe". "Once again the might of Our Lord in Iron prevails". "Huzzah! Huzzah!" He then looks around and notices that everyone else has moved on, and sheepishly pulls his sword out of the overhead beam, wipes some flour from his eyes, and rejoins the party at the newly revealed entrance. "Does it look like the door has been used recently"? he asks.

OOC: I'll be at Gen-Con as well but only Friday afternoon/evening, and Saturday till just after lunch.

Regretfully my offline life is becoming a bit too hectic and I need to trim some commitments. Regretfully this is one of them. Sorry! I've very much enjoyed the game and hope you continue playing. Thanks!

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

"Wow, great work! Shall we see where it leads?"

Inros leans towards Sun Fei and whispers, "I thought Hal was a little off, but now I'm wondering about Thelix."

We are moving this week, so I may not be able to post much until the weekend.

Sun Fei nods and takes Inros entirely too seriously. "They both bear watching." she says as she turns to see what the others have found behind the secret door.

Hal looks behind him to make sure that the others are there to back him up. The he tries to open the door and proceed into where it leads.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry for the delay, I was totally wipped out after Gen Con, I had a blast though!!!

You open the secret door which makes a loud noise as you can tell it has not been used in awhile. You see a narrow space exists under the fishery, with about four feet of room between the floor of the building above and the languid, foamy water below. Wooden pilings support the building, and moss and cobwebs hang thick from the ropes and rusted chains between them. A wooden walkway floats on the river surface, winding along the inner wall of pilings that supports the building's frame above, leading from the sodden barge to the a wooden door that leads into the understructure below the fishery's landbound half.....

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix, eager to make up for his earlier excited ineptitude, makes a beeline for the door. Something about it triggers a childhood memory. He looks into the water beside the platform to see if anything is floating there, then begins to carefully cross.

Spot check (1d20 2=22)

Balance Check if required (Take 10 for total of 10.

Hal follows Thelix. If an attack comes he will try to flank any foe they confront, even if he has to delay his attack to do so.

Take 10 on Balance for 17 total.

Sun Fei is next in line behind Hal.

Balance +2 if it comes up she'll roll

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

"I guess a middle position is safe for me, after you, lady". Andreas enters carefully after Sun Fei, his robes slithering over the grimy plankwork.

Balance Check (1d20 2=20) just in case...

Liberty's Edge

Thelix sees a fin in the water making lazy circles around the area. The walkway is slippery but there are more things to hold onto as you make your way along it to the doorway of the fishery. Hal notices on his way through the door that this has been the first in a very long time this door has been opened. Sun sees a skiff tied up at the end of the walkway and looking up you see a small hole in the floor of the fishery where stuff must have been passed down, maybe even some of the children which sets your skin a shiver. Inros spots another spider watching them exit not making a move, just watching. Andreas notices something shiny in the water about 5 feet out from the walkway........

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Since the spider is content to leave him alone, Inros follows the others, trading his bow for the sword he used on board the boat.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix warily eyes the fin swimming in the water and makes his way to the door. "Since this is a hidden entrance it might be trapped". "Can anyone here check". "I'm not much good at that type of thing; not very mechanically inclined".

If no one steps forward Thelix simply shrugs and tries to open the door.

Not any better at traps, Sun Fei does not volunteer to try in Thelix's stead. She'd probably fall into the water trying to pass the others anyways.

"Let me look."

If Hal has time he will take 20. Otherwise Search: 9

Liberty's Edge

You each have no problems reaching the door to the fishery with only a few slips and slides here and there . The shark seems content to swim around in circles but keeps closer to the walkway as it sences possible dinner approaching. Hal sences no traps on or around the door, the door is old but well kept you can tell. The spider moves out of site back to its dark lair. You can all tell its getting close to morning now, its getting lighter by the moment.

Listen checks and any other actions you might want to take

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Listen 1d20+6=22

Inros nocks an arrow, anticipating trouble on the other side of the door.

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas readies his crossbow. Seeing that the others have the door covered, he keep an eye on the shiny spot by the walkway.

Spot[5,1] = (6)
Or take 10/20 while the others are busy with the door, spending the same time they do unless there is some interruption

In a completely uncharacteristic bout of luck, Sun Fei's ears perk up. Her sword ready she steadies herself on the slick walkway.
