Your group bids Sabina thanks for the offer but you'll go it alone. You all head back down the long stairs of the pyramid and back into the city. It would be normally an easy walk for you but with all of the chaos going on still it takes you awhile to make it there. Citadel Volshyenek is located in the Midland District of Korvosa jutting out into the Jeggare River. Its an impressive sight, with five towers connected by walls and a very large main building which is the head quarters and main garrison of the Korvosan Guard. As you walk up you see two nervious guards in front of the Citadel. They seem to recognize you and waves you though where another guard bids you to follow him. He leads you to the chamber of Field Marshal Cressida Kroft, an attractive dark haired human woman dressed in red armour. She seems on the brink of exhaustion but seems alert as she nods at you as you enter and says, Ah yes you are the ones sent by the Queen. Greetings my name is Cressida and heroes of your caliber are exactly what Korvosa needs now. You've been on the streets. You know better than me how bad things are out there. It's breaking my heart to see Korvosa tear herself appart like this. Every little bit of aid we can get from upstanding citizens like you helps. If you are willing, I'd like very much like to retain your services as agents of the Guard. I don't need to say, of course, that you'll be well compensated for these services.... She pauses to see if the group seems interested, wondering if she should continue or is she wasting her time here.....

"If they're in, I can't see what harm it'd do." says Sun Fei agreeing to join her new friends. Things had gone well since they went to see that fortune teller, well for her at least maybe not for the fortune teller. Sticking with this group was probably better than sitting at home and meditating anyways given that she'd already managed to erase a stain from her past.

She continues “Korvosa’s got enough troubles as it is without my own men losing their way and going rogue. As much as it pains me to
admit, though, this has happened several times already. Many
guards have deserted their posts, more concerned about
friends and family than the city. I can understand this, yet not
all of the deserters have family—some of them are simply using
the riots as an excuse for personal gain. One such man is Verik
Vancaskerkin. Worse than a lone deserter, he’s convinced a small
group of fellow guards that Queen Ileosa is going to ruin the city.
Whether she does or doesn’t isn’t the point—right now, we’ve
got a city-wide crisis on our hands, and I need all of my guards
working with me to see us through. A deserter is worse than a
lost resource—it’s an infection. I can’t afford to pull any of my
other patrols off duty to deal with Vancaskerkin, and I’d rather
not expose any of them to him anyway, since I neither want
Vancaskerkin to infect more guards with his talk of secession,
nor do I want some overly patriotic guard killing Vancaskerkin
outright. I need impartial, skilled talent. Like you.
“Vancaskerkin and his men have holed up in an abandoned butcher’s shop up in Northgate—the place was called All the World’s Meat. I need you to check out the place. Try to avoid killing any of the deserters if you can, but if you must, they brought it upon themselves when they threw in their lot with Vancaskerkin. For him, I’d really prefer it if you could capture him alive and return him to me for interrogation, but if he makes that impossible, I’ll accept his body as well.
Finally, see if you can find out why Verik deserted—if there’s more to it than simple personal politics, I need to know immediately. Bring me Verik alive, and there’s another thousand gold in it for you. Dead,
he’s only worth half that.” She finishes speaking and looks at all of you for your answers to her plea for help.....

"And do you know how far-ranging is his group? Are they only in Northgate, or all over the city?"
There's a new way to lose sanity...One minute you are in NYC, the next you are in Korvosa in the middle of a riot. If you brought Cthulu with you, we are in big trouble...

If we track Cthulu by rampant insanity then he clearly resides in Washington DC.

The Field Marshal gives a sigh and says to your group, We are unsure of his activites as of yet, so we do not know how far out he works his treason or how many men he has converted with his lies. With so many of my men out trying to control the chaos in the city its been hard to keep a head count. I am working on a way quickly to rectify that problem We just found out his location this morning as I have said, I don't have the men to spare. Good luck to you all......
She hands you a small paper with the address to the meat shop- 22 Stirge Street, Northgate.
Have fun on vacation!!!

Sorry for the delay this week, I got laid off this week and have been focusing on looking for a job. My company did offer a position 2 steps lower than I was so it looks like I am going to have to take it since there is not much out there at the moment. Weird thing is the money will stay the same. Anyway it seems we got three here to play, I was kinda giving it a week but looks like this is it so I will post later today for a forth or fifth to join us! I will also post to get things rolling again at the same time!

Ok sorry for the delay, YES we are going to keep going! I got a new job, I am blessed to have it. Actually its a transfer to a new property, I still get to be a manager and it pays a little more than I was making plus I get all my hours. The commute is longer but its worth it(about a 20 min drive). My old job I heard as cut hours even more and most likely will layoff some folks this or the following week so I got out of there at the right time! I am glad I did not take the lower position they had offered!!!! Anyway I am going to post next for some new folks to join us in our game and at the same time we will keep things rolling along. I need to do a little reading to recatch up on everything here and I bet you need to also. Here is my last post in the game so refresh yourselves and go ahead and start role playing!!

I am sorry you can not stay and help our city in a time of need but I understand you need to take care of your own needs too. Good luck and be safe.[b] Both gentleman bow and take their leave but they both leave items on her desk saying something to the effect of these might help. The field marshal notices you after they depart and says [b]Welcome, the queen has sent more help it would seem! I have the perfect job for you.... She goes off into her speech, please read her speech! Its the same one she just got done telling to the other pc's. Only she adds at the end.. I just sent off a crew to take care of this matter but they lost a few of their group so they might need some back up, here is the address to the shop.... It says 22 Stirge Street.

"Let's go then. Shall we, my friends?"
By the way, is there an OOC thread?
No, its easier for me to keep to many threads to watch! I am running 5 games right now and it gets a bit much to have so many threads. Go ahead and do the occ in the game thread, you can even put it into a spoiler tag if you want!
Sarastal
Sarastal stands awkwardly in front of the marshal in her soiled and tattered evening gown, the hem encrusted with mud and filth and her pale face a mask of worry.
"I don't suppose you could give us some of the gold up front, could you?" she asks, flustered by the need to groval. "We might need some supplies or something." She waves her hand vaguely.
Deserted...more likely forced out, she thinks to herself, but if anyone is going to get that reward, it's going to be me. Living on gruel in a squalid rooming house hasn't been good for her mood or delicate constitution.
Yselle

Will do.
Beren Sunderholm
"As for me, I'll not take any gold I haven't earned yet. I would think that the rewards will be sufficient once order is restored." Beren motions to the others that they should get moving, much like a child who is anxious to get outside to play. "the last thing this city needs now is the guards trying to carve out there own little fiefdom's. I am eager to have words with this one."
Beren readies his equipment, checking straps and adjusting the weight of his pack, while the others decide if they are going to press the issue about getting paid up front.
I am glad to be getting started, thanks for the opportunity

The field marshal looks you three over and says, Well, I can give you a little to start off with, say 25 gold each, and I will talk to the owner of the Three Rings Tavern in Five Corners. You will have a line of credit there by tonight so you can get refreshed with food and bath. You may stay there for as long as your on the job or if you so choose you can stay in the Citadel's barracks, your choice. When you catch up to the other group please pass along the information about the Three Rings Tavern, they have a line of credit also! She goes into one of her drawers in her desk and hands of the gold she promised to each of you. Don't be to long in getting to the other group, Vancaskerkin is a very dangerous man and they will most likely need your help sooner than later. Good Luck!
