I thought I'd mention the dropping of the "burrowing animal" language
as an option... c'mon, how is chittering with the squirrels NOT fun?
Also, since gnomes are pretty much fey-descended, why not just make Gnomish=Sylvan as far as languages...

Gnomes should speak Norwegian.
Plus, they are only 15 cm tall , and would never be seen with out their red cap on.

Gnomes get just plain Speak with Animals. No more burrowing mamamals.
Gnomes start knowing Common, Gnome, and Sylvan.
They also have the choice of favourite class being Bard or Sorcerer.
BTW the new Sorcerer Bloodlines is sweet. Plenty of choice and plenty of play.
I think though that I agree with others that they should chop the 2nd level out of the spells cast and spells known. Sorcerers really lag in the casting department with that extra level in the table.
