I really like the idea that dwarves do not suffer armor or encumbrance penalties to their movement rates.
On the same note, I wonder if perhaps the fantasy-culture-accepted dwarven ability to "force march" should allow them the same overland rate as if their tactical speed was 30' rather than 20'. After all, I've seen plenty of short and stocky guys in the Army hump right along with those of use tall, long-legged folks out in the field.
Just an idea,

Sounds like a reasonable enough idea. And it certainly fits the fluff name for dwarven movement: Slow and Steady.
Yeah great, you are all part of that dwarven lobby group!
Dwarves are slow! why does a dwarf in full plate move as fast as an elf or human in chainmail?
3.0 gave them all sorts of bonuses not least of which is the +2 save against just about everything, the free exotic weapon proficiency etc. The only tactical weakness dwarves had was that they moved slowly. With 3.5 that vanished...Now that that has been taken away they lose their only limitation.

Wow ... I thought that was a Pathfinder change, not a 3.5 one. Had to go back and check. Haven't played a dwarf since 2nd, though.
Still, I like the overland movement idea. Think of LotR ... Gimli was always moving more slowly about the battlefield than Aragorn or Legolas and lagged far behind when they were at a run. Nevertheless, he was ultimately able to keep up with them in day after day of extended overland travel chasing the Uruk-hai.

And complaining about it the whole time.
