Just reread this thread! Thanks for the congrats everyone! With volunteers as enthusiastic and awesome as you fine folks, I have no doubt Pathfinder Society shall redefine the world of Organized Play and set the bar higher than ever before. Thanks for all the support! Can't wait to work with all you amazing minds!

Nick, it couldn't have happened to a better fellow, truly! Well done!
I run ongoing campaigns in my home for my friends. My wife and I don't attend any conventions...anymore. What will I be doing to help if I join, what would my 'role' be?
-DM Jeff
well, they said home and game stores groups could report results as well, so you could drop some into your current game, or convince your local gaming store to allow you to run a group 1-2 times a month, or both..

Nick Logue, Erik Mona, Carolyn Mull, and myself have just spent a huge part of tonight discussing Pathfinder Society. We have some exciting things planned and I can't wait to share them with everyone. Our factions, and their prestige systems, are some of the more fascinating RPG ideas I've seen in a long time and I can't wait to start previewing them in the blog.
More meetings tomorrow! More details soon!

Joshua J. Frost |

I just talked with my buddy at my friendly local game (and comic) store.
Before I could even mention Pathfinder Society, however, he began talking my ear off about "Paizo's new organized play thing", and how much he wanted to be involved.
. . . so I dunno, could be a hard sell ;).
When you're in there next time, can you ask him if he heard about Pathfinder Society from his distributor? It'd be nice to know the PDF I sent the distributors to send to their retail accounts was getting out there. :-)

Shame this all comes out after Origins this year. I usually make that and wouldn't mind volunteering to run something there. Any chance Paizo will be attendance this year?
Sorry. Found the Origins post.
BTW, great choice in Master Logue. As a DM I've loved his stuff, as a player, his stuff is sometimes scary, brilliant, but scary.

Haha, I'll ask him, but I don't put it past Glenn to be extremely informed under his own auspices. He's been evangelizing the adventure paths to people since they started, and he's got at least two Rune Lords GMs who frequent his store to keep him in the loop.

You might have noticed that Paizo blogs generally go up around midnight Pacific Time, five days a week. (Look how much work I just saved you!)

![]() |

When we release the details, I imagine your group would fit under the "home-play" category. Stay tuned.
Its probably way too early to get solid plans for loophole situations like mine, but if thee are benefits to running a group out of a game shop or "shop packs" of promotional materials or whatnot, would it be possible for some home-play groups to get them too? My group is keen on the idea of running league play while we're deployed. Again.

Yes, i noticed - but with the amount of times I hti refresh from work when the goblins were attacking I've already wasted a few hours this past week... whats one or two more?

Hmm, I followed up yesterday, and it looks like I was right on both counts: he got no PDF or printout from his distributor, but is generally pretty on the ball. In fact, you could say he has his finger on the pulse . . though he attributes his general astuteness to the great number of informed gamers that pass through his store to gawk at his wares.

Just a quick question. I mentioned in my e-mail that I wouldn't be going to Gen Con, but there is a chance, mind you a slim one, that I might. What would be the deadline by which you really need to know this. I imagine this is going to be a simple "once we have enough DMs," but I thought I'd check.
Event Registration opens April 20. Popular events can fill up in under an hour. Pre-registration is the only way to be sure to get in, but often a sponsor/organizer will add sessions at the Con for those who couldn't pre-reg. So there is a chance you can get in if you just show up at GenCon (esp if you come early), but if you want to be sure to get certain events you should decide by April 20.

Well, this is all very exciting. And I would love, L-O-V-E, LOVE to volunteer... But I'm not sure what good it would do. I'm not the best organizer, and I haven't been able to scare up a game in years. And I'm in New York. Near NYC, no less. How does that figure? (Well, beyond the fact that I don't drive, I guess?)
That said, I'm still very excited, and await word on what is going on with PFS in New York. I plan on participating, if not running. And who knows, I might try it at some point.
I'm in awe of Paizo right now, I really am.
Justin
I currently run Living Greyhawk out of Neutral Ground in NYC. I am moving to the Pathfinder Society and will be looking for players. I have sent my e-mail to Josh and look forward to volunteering. Drop me a line at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/pathfinder_rpg_group/ and I will keep you up to date on the any events we set up after GenCon
Same goes for anyone else interested in NYC Pathfinder Games
Rich

This rocks! It makes me wish I had the money to go to GenCon this year... seriously. Alas I can't but I can have my table of victims.... er... players ready to have fun.
Nick, what ever you need from me let me know.
And now to change this statement.... The misses has warmed up to us going to GenCon this year. So it looks like I will be making the trip from CT to help out.
My wife was also mumbling something about a swift kick to the junk for Mr. Logue and Mr. Pett for her torments in RotRL AP so far as well. Be warned.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Even though I don't have nearly any spare time to contribute to be a volunteer, I might consider such an option later (after Living Greyhawk ends).
It's a huge pity that Ropecon, presumably the largest RPG convention held in Northern Europe is merely one week BEFORE Gen Con, thus not able to hold any Pathfinder games. All that can be done is promo work. Well, I'm sure I'll be mentioning that to others.
Most likely the Pathfinder Society serves as a spiritual successor to those who have been enraged by the discontinuation of Living Greyhawk.
Furthermore, there aren't many retail stores in Finland that would have adequate gaming space. Actually, I can't think of any. This might be an obstacle in trying to spread the game in stores. Worth a try though.

Josh you will be getting an Email soon, but Here is a US Service member here in germany that wants to volunteer. At this time what I can do is look at a way of spreading the news to the many service members who play D&D here, but also I just recently decided to go to UK Gencon at the end of August. WOuld love to GM a Pathfinder story there. Will you guys have the Con Story events ready by then?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Since Gen Con UK is right after Gen Con, I expect that we'll have scenarios available for PFS GMs to run there. We don't have all of our foundational plans laid out just yet, but when we do I'm sure Gen Con UK will be a part of them for 2008.
That's fantastic news. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing Pathfinder at GenCon UK.

With two adventures a month for PF Society as well as the AP (including 2 adventures in Second Darkness!) and the modules, I think I shall never catch up. How is one person supposed to do it all!?! I'm really excited about the opportunity to partake in this. If it's anything like the rest of the stuff Paizo's been putting out for years it's bound to be quite a ride. I can't wait!
p.s. - Will the Ascension of the Drow (which sounds awesome, btw) be one of the available pdf's or is it a GenCon only event? I never get to make it to conventions, but I don't want to miss any of the fun.

Do we have any more details on how the whole "home game" system is going to work?
I was going to volenteer, but I don't know exactly what is involved. I am happy to do some "back office" type stuff, but with two little kids don't get to Cons anymore and I can't really commit to running stuff locally.
The basic question comes down to..are there any more details on this??

Not yet. The plan is to have new information out by the end of this month. Nick Logue, our OP Coordinator, starts working for us officially in a few weeks and once he's on the clock things will progress mighty fast.

I am a native of Venezuela, and I am very interested in attending the Pathfinder Society, I would like to know how they will handle registration for those who resiende not in the United States of Norteamerica.Tambien would like to know if they are willing or feel as promote their products Hispanic nations
Another element that I would like to know is which will be the benefits and duties mean that you have people who are registered in the Pathfinder Society

Joshua J. Frost |

Considering that I have volunteers from *eleven* countries outside of the United States, we'll most definitely encourage Pathfinder Society org play everywhere in the world.
What we won't, unfortunately, be able to provide are translated scenarios. We don't have the employee resources to make this happen.

Is the accession of the drow module part of the starting pathfinder society modules? Is it like a "convention special"
From up there ^^^^ its a convention special

Hello all! I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Andrew and I'm a long time D&Der (since the old boxed days). Over the past years, my group has had a lot of fun playing Living Greyhawk and we were at the Gencon announcement that they were shutting down the campaign... and we were not pleased.
As the proposed changes for 4E have become public, all of us (with some 100 years of D&D experience between us!) were struggling to figure out what we'd do after our campaign for the last several years is being shut down - so hearing about the Pathfinder Society, we thought this might be a neat alternative. So here I am to check it out for our group (as I'm 90% of the time the GM).
I'd love to contribute and lend my hands GM'ing in this new venture. One plea, please don't change 3.5 much for the Pathfinder RPG, one reason we're wanting to stay is we're find with the rules, sure, grappling isn't the smoothest, but we've used it for 7 years now and have been doing fine with it; sure the core races aren't "as powerful", but let us the GM's allow/disallow what's available in the campaign instead of giving new stat bumps here and there; in short, keep it as much the same as possible, after all, that's why we're staying!
Thanks! And looking forward to finding out about the new setting - we've pretty much gamed in Greyhawk for literally the past 20+ years.

Words cannot describe how excited I am about the Pathfinder Adventure Society. I have been involved with living campaigns in varying degrees of capacity; Plot Director of Living City, Metagaming Director of Blackmoor, author of a couple Living Greyhawk events, and currently a part of Living Arcanis's Invisible Kings program which I am currently a writer/developer for my region (Metra).
Besides having the natural desire to play (in which I am signed for all 4 PF events at GenCon plus Ascension), there is always the itch to do something more such as writing. If you are looking for any volunteers, I would love to help out in anyway, shape, or form.
Best,
Joe Cirillo

Well my dear Mr Joshua with respect to the entire world, I must say that in my case I am very concerned and I must say that when you want something, like role-playing games, reading manuals and become part of something like the Society must make a Pathfinder sacrifices. I must say that thanks to role-playing games and computer games, in addition to thank my mother and my career, I have a good standard in English, especially when it comes to reading and translation, I have sadly neglected grammar and fluency in speaking.
I have no problems with the material can not get translated, while the material can reach these lands; register to society is not very complex.
Taking into account foreign members, and those who live in underdeveloped countries, I was taken by the audacity to advise you that the registration system is made via the Internet. I think it would be simpler than the system of conventional mail (email from my country is a disgust)

I'll second this, form another perspective:
I wanted to start running RPGA events a few yrs ago in college.. I wasn't able to, because the closest RPGA events open to the public were 40+miles away, and full until the Summer (which was when the only con around here happened. This was the closest at 35 miles, but was still very limited.

Exactly, the world is now at a time where technology is becoming more and more weight. Thus we must find ways to make this instead of plotting against us is a matchless value ... Subscripcion simpler methods for a world increasingly globalised

Just as an FYI to the hoopy froods over at Paizo, I went to talk to the proprietor of my FLGS today, and he seemed extremely excited to participate in the Pathfinder Society. So hopefully, once there's more information available, I'll try to set something up there!
Interesting note: He was particularly enthusiastic to have something going on at his store that wasn't 4th Edition, he was really interested in seeing how the whole Pathfinder Society turns out. He figures with both 4th Edition and Pathfinder, he'll have something for any gamer at his store looking to play some D&D.

OK, so you're starting at GenCon... That's at the end of the summer, right?
In the meantime, I'm thinking of running Rise of the Runelords or some Pathfinder Modules for the summer, as a way to whet some appetites for Pathfinder Society! Here's hoping I can get a good group going and grow from there!

Now you can add France & Swiss.
As organizer since the beginning of "Living Greyahwk" RPGA events in France (with now a participation at the GenCon France & the organization of BorderCon Event in Geneva with only Living Greyhawk stuff during 4/5 days).
I speak about Pathfinder with some players and DMs and decided during the last GenCon France with some Swiss (Dullstrand) & French (Ekbir) Triad with the end of "Living Greyhawk" to continue with Pathfinder in home campaign and surely with Pathinder Society if we can (around 50 actives players around the two countries), we have also the support of the main Organizer of "Living Arcanis" event in France.
And good news for French players & DMs crap in English, most of your stuff he's going to be translate in French localy. That good for the lauch of a new campaign, who seem to have a big interest in France (better than the 4th Edition).
We have decided to contact the local editor if they are interested to give some support to the Pathfinder Society (translation ? and events) and anyway I send you an email.
Gerald
PS : Funny to see there some players I meet thru the world with Living Greyhawk, a good concept who Erik and Jason be member at the beginning.
