Ok, I've had a quick look over everything, and I'm happy, Jubrayl, you are missing a feat, and Atherton, you are missing a bonus feat from RoTRL...

Other than that.....

What's left before we can get the game underway? Those adjustments and a bit more backstory explanation or trait selection for a couple of PCs? Did you have a timeframe for when you wanted to start?

Traits are the only bit of the background I need.

Once I have all of those, I will write up the intros for everyone (I've already started that actually) and then we are off, so hopefully start the main thread today, or at the latest, tomorrow.

Will do. I should have enough time to revise it tonight.

Is Torillan still planning on joining the game? It doesn't look like his character is complete yet (i.e., no skills selected, no trait, etc.).

Just curious...

Good question. He hasn't posted to the discussion thread at all, only the gamer conenction one, so I've left a note on there for him.

His last post was hoping to have the character ready by yesterday, so I can give him a little longer I think.

If he doesn't reappear, you might want to consider offering a spot to The Last Rogue. He also expressed interest in joining the game...though, at the time, he was considering a wizard, which Oliver has covered pretty well now.

So, maybe check with Last Rogue on playing a fighter or something. We could certainly use some added melee power. Am I the only one that finds it odd Istas has the highest party armor class and the second-best hit point total at the moment? It's a good thing I didn't go with that cloistered cleric idea after all...

That's probably the way it will pan out if he hasn't gotten back to me by the time I have all the trait/background I need to write the rest of the intros.

If that happens, I hope TLR can create characters pretty quick....or at least in reverse, backgroun first, stats second....

Lol, she does seem to be a pretty good all-rounder, then again, my reallife game has a halfling rogue with stonking AC and real nice damage at range....

Cool, some nice stuff to work with. Just Atherton's trait, and another 4 intos to write and we are off.

(Upto now, Cal's intro stands at 600 words, and Jabral's at about 400, so they are taking a little time to write. Hopefully Cal's will be the longest though...)

Naa, you misunderstand. Your intro, the bit I'm writing is 600 words, partly because you have a vivid background, but mostly because there is a full harrow reading in there.....

the words "Rod" and "Back" spring to mind!

Thanks. We'll see how long you like him once you get to know him ;)

Seriously, I like playing characters that don't necassarily play nice with the rest of the world and who are a little of their rockers.
I can see a lot of interesting interactions going on with the party, especially Istus like you said. Anyone who's particularly morally upstanding is probably going to come to greatly dislike Atherton very quickly.

EDIT: I just went over Istus' backround and yes, I can see many interesting interactions between the two. They'll either get along famously or hate each other's guts.

In Atherton's backstory I don't know whether or not I made it clear that Ath doesn't know that it was in fact Gaedran who ordered Eria's murder. Atherton thinks it was the crime lord he killed, and even feels a slight amount of gratitude to the old bastard deep in his selfish heart. He doesn't like him or have an illusions that he's a good person but he does have a little gratitude. He'll react rather poorly should he ever find out.

That is a bit of a problem, it is assumed that Crimson Throne starts with all the players hating Lamm, and having good reason to.

If he doesn't know now, he will by the end of my intro, and I will have handle all of the interaction of him finding out....

Unless, you want to give me another reason for hateing Lamm, and he can find out the truth later....Being a local mini crime lord I'm sure you can come up with plenty more reasons....

@Torillan - I'm taking a bit of a liberty with your alignment, I assume that someone who has grown up in gangs will have a slightly different idea of "Lawful" to the common or garden one, and you intro reads more caotic good into caotic evil.....I figure a dead wifer will do strange things a man, not entirely in character things.....but I can alter it if you like.

I believe Kayos said something similar about Cal's background. Just as FYI...I'm not one to enjoy a game that has a lot of intra-party strife going on. I want to play a hero. And, for me, most heroes have a solid kernel of good in them...even if they have to dig deep to find it.

So I'd encourage you guys not to go too far into the withdrawn, hate-the-world, morally-gray archetypes too much. I can see having that in your character's background, but I'd prefer that somewhere in the early going we'd all see that your character is turning the corner and making a trip back into the "light" so to speak. The struggle could certainly continue throughout the game, of course. But it's the journey into accomplishing something heroic that matters, I think. Redemption is a big part of what makes the best heroes, after all. And, we do have a paladin in the party...as well as a cleric of "fate" that you can consult on spiritual and moral matters. Although I'm not going to play Istas as Lawful Good, I am going to make an effort to find enough common ground with everyone so we can avoid arguing overly much about how we approach every problem in the game.

Through the course of this story, I also don't want Istas to wind up hating anyone's guts. Or, if she does, it would be only a very temporary thing based off some kind of misunderstanding, which eventually gets realized so we can return to being supportive of one another. That's sort of my personal philosophy and commitment to roleplaying in any game, really. And I just thought I'd explain and share that before we get started.

Ath doesn't like Gaedran Lamm; he knows he's evil and has no love for him. He ignores the fact that he's evil because he gives jobs that pay decently. Its cool too if he finds out at the beginning of the story; he's tried to put his past behind him but when he finds out about Gaedran's betrayl he will drop everything and try his damndest to kill him. It'll be fun to play him as he discovers the truth and his new companions too.

Ath won't be the kind of character who's moral deficiencies and general difficulties getting along with the world tear apart the party (something I've seen happen). He'll be more quitely angry and withdrawn.
It'll take a lot of time to transform Atherton into a hero, if that even happens. Redemption will probably be part of his journey but it won't be easy; he's gotten to a point where his moral compass is so screwed up he deosn't have a problem with what he does. He no longer believes that Atherton Dram is anything more than a criminal at heart.
He's atually likely to grudgingly respect Istus; he doesn't have faith in any gods but luck has gotten him out of many sticky situations. He'll probably have a harder time getting along with the paladin and certainly won't go to him for advice.
Ath probably won't even 'hate' anyone in the party; he's more likely to distance himself from people, disliking them slightly but still working with them because thats buisness.

Apologies in advance if Istas is dominating the conversation in the early going. I seem to have lots of time on my hands for posting today. And the interaction is kind of addictive during those early moments when I'm trying to find the right "voice" and demeanor for my character. :)

Thanks. I'm metagaming a bit as well, in that I've got the gist of Atherton's background in mind with how Istas is interacting with him. The priestess obviously doesn't know his real story...but she's mysterious and all...so maybe her words are divinely-inspired to sow the seeds of distrust that eventually leads to his personal revelation about Gaedren Lamm?

Either way, I like chipping away at Atherton's backstory. He's a villain we can pull for to turn the corner. But it doesn't have to come all at once...if ever. Great roleplay, Arctaris! ;-)

Ok, taken from this month's pathfinder.....

"Harrow Point Uses
In “Edge of Anarchy,” the PCs are faced with numerous situations
where they need to be quick on their feet, from chasing down
fugitives over rooftops to playing dangerous games of Knivesies
to navigating rotting piers and ships. During this adventure, a
character can spend his Harrow Points in the following ways.

Dexterity Rerolls: Spend a Harrow Point to reroll any one
Initiative check, Reflex save, attack roll modified by Dexterity, or
Dexterity-based skill check. You must abide by the new result
(although if you have additional Harrow Points remaining, you
can use them to attempt additional rerolls).

Dodge Bonus: Spend a Harrow Point to gain a +1 Dodge
bonus to your Armor Class for one encounter. You can spend
up to 3 Harrow Points per encounter to increase your Armor
Class in this manner.

Speed Increase: Spend a Harrow Point to increase your
base speed by 10 feet for one encounter—you cannot spend
multiple Harrow Points to increase your speed multiple times
in one encounter.

The Chosen
In addition, the card a PC draws during the choosing has
special qualities during this adventure. Each of these cards is
tied to a specific encounter in “Edge of Anarchy,” and when a PC
who drew that card reaches that encounter, he gains a +2 bonus
on all rolls modified by Dexterity and a +1 Dodge bonus to his
Armor Class. These bonuses last for the encounter’s duration".

You get 1 Harrow point, plus one for each card that was "chosen" and appeared in the spread, so for Anarchy, you each get 3 harrow Points. Use them well :)

*sighs*

Well, that roll doesn't bode well for my diplomatic abilities. First diplomacy roll of the game, and I get a natural 1.

*sighs*
