Update,
Mrs Ragadolf is home now, sans 1 kidney. She will be fine, (and is already walking around, like the doctor told her too) she'll need 2-3 weeks healing and all will be well.
Thank you all for the well-wishes, they were and are appreciated.
I, On the other hand, am about 1 thread short of snapping right now, ;P
RL continues to kick my heinie. I'll keep up as best I can, but ask forgiveness in advance if I simply do not post for a couple of days.

A few years ago, we tore out a bathroom and changed every surface. Tore out the shower insert, built-in cabinets, linoleum, and part of the ceiling. Put back in a walk-in shower (a near-crippling car wreck gave us a new appreciation of such facilities) and new custom cabinets. The cabinets and plumbing were done by the pros and a family member with experience helped with the new concrete floor for the shower. We did the tile on the floor and the walls as well as rebuilding the wall and ceiling and put beadboard and a fan on the ceiling.
All in all, it was very educational, very worth it, and very, very slow. We literally started deconstruction on the last Saturday of February that year and the last piece was installed with our guests (that were going to use it first) sitting in the next room - for a Christmas visit.
Hang in there, it will definitely be yours when you are done and no one can take it from you - even if you sell the house later.

Make a plan and take it one step at a time. And, considering it took us ten months, this may not be a surprise, but don't be afraid to step back and take a walk if things aren't quite coming together the way you think -- just like if you are doing anything else creative.
It's funny, the bathroom we did is relatively small, but I'm not sure that didn't make it more of a challenge since we had physical constraints to stay within. I don't necessarily recommend your first use of a jackhammer being in a floor that you intend to keep part of, by the way. Just sayin'.

On another topic, I have had time to review some of the cool books I have purchased and I found this feat. What do you think?
Web of Steel (Combat)
You can use your weapons to protect you as well as armor does.
Prerequisites: Int 13, Dex 15, Dodge, Combat Expertise, Weapon Focus, base attack +1.
Benefit: When you are not flat-footed, wearing light armor or no armor, and have a melee weapon you have Weapon Focus for in hand ready for use, you gain an armor bonus to your AC. This bonus is equal to 1/2 your character level +2. Any circumstance that would cause you to lose your dodge bonus also causes you to lose this armor bonus to AC. Like any armor bonus, it does not stack with other sources of armor.
Is that tailor-made for a Kensai, or what? Emrael has bracers of armor +5 right now, so it would only improve her AC by four, but still! What a cool feat! Which probably means that my excitement blinds me to the fact that it's probably too good.
It's from a Super Genius Games product. What do you think of it?

Um, is this thing alive again?
Sorry about my lack of posting recently. I was led to believe that I was a mortal lock for a very nice job - certain enough that I was talking to a realtor about buying a house there - and all of a sudden they pulled the rug out under me. I've been in a pretty foul mood lately.

Wow. Ouch.
Yeah, that would do it. Sorry Vatt. Their loss.:)

Yeah, enjoy yourself, sir. Have fun and be safe!
Oh, Phoenix reminds me - any of the contributors to this thread have any advice for someone with a small layover in Flagstaff? It won't be for a bit yet (like - over a year), but I'm expecting a trip there and I'm always open to advice from someone that's been there.

OK. I need some advice from the more crunchtastic folks in the group. Pip's got like 150K in assorted treasure in his bag O' holding. What items should he buy to get the group prepped for a Negative Energy jaunt? Or for that matter, the sanity-trying jaunt to the triple-lobed friary? Anyone have any good ideas?

Food poisoning sucks and takes precedence.

Almost forgot about this. The most important thing first - how long are you there for?
AinvarG |
Not long - I believe we will have bookend days around a trip to that big hole in the ground to the north. That is, an evening before we head north and another after we get back. None of the schedule is very firm this far in advance, of course. The Canyon is the priority, but I thought it would be worth asking if you had a suggestion for the downtime.

The thing (besides that big hole in the ground) you MUST do is to visit the Lowell Observatory. Besides that, go for some walks in the forest.
Frankly, Flagstaff is a bit of a dump. Half the town is student housing and Northern Arizona University buildings; the other half is trashy Route 66-themed biker bars. In between those are some ramshackle houses. Unless you like overpriced tat and drunk people peeing on corners, there's not all that much to see in the town itself.
Foodwise, I really like the Taverna and the Dara Thai restaurants. Flagstaff gets a lot of tourists, so I'm sure there are other good ones as well. There are also several good coffee/pastry places in the neighbourhood south of Route 66.

Go take care of the wifey, we'll be here. Trying to come up with new and interesting ways to derail your carefully plotted plots.
;)Heh heh......guess I got you hornswaggled.
Carefully plotted, indeed.....
Heheheh,...
I'm not sure at this point whose better at making up things as we go.
I still think your ahead the majority of the time, but this group is getting VERY close at times to derailing plots almost as fast as you can make them up! :)
