Inasmuch as a battle dancer must maintain a maxed out Tumble to use her best abilities, going with grappling sort of eliminates what she does best.
Maybe Dodge, Mobility, and Spring Attack with an eye towards the Dervish class would be a good build.
Also, the value of Two-Weapon Fighting can't be overlooked in light of the battle dancer's attack dice progression and the fact that her unarmed strike qualifies as light weapons. Booya!

I have a player running a battle dancer in my Age of Worms game. She uses the long spear in conjunction to her unarmed combat. Se also took Combat Expertise and built the character around attacks of opportuntities.
The long spear gives her reach and is someone closes with her, they get beat to death with unarmed strikes (kicks and knee strikes).
She also took the Backstab feat (I don't remember the Dragon issue) that causes opponents to provoke AoOs if they attack an adjacent opponent other than her.

Dodge, Mobility, and Spring Attack are good choices. However, the battle dancer does not really need a prestige class. The ability to do a full attack at the end of a charge makes them dangerous. Combine this with the ability to run on the air at later levels and they become very hard to pin down.

The Black Bard wrote:I beleive there is a feat that allows you to do just that.Segal Hands
Prerequisites: Improved Unarmed Strike, Square Jaw, Ponytail
Effects: Your unarmed strikes now deal slashing damage, and daggers now count as a special monk weapon.
Don't you also need to have like zero ranks in preform: act and diplomacy?

Stumbled across a neat trick with the battle dancer. Their Dance of the Pouncing Tiger (or Lion, or whatever) allows them to--effectively--pounce at the end of a charge, thus making a full attack action. Combine this with Flying Kick from Complete Warrior (an unarmed strike made at the end of a charge deals +1d12 dmg) and you have something akin to Liu Kang's bicycle kick from Mortal Kombat. Add the Two-Weapon Fighting feats for his/her off-hand for even more goodness.

Then, if its your custom and for good measure, toss in Snap Kick for an additional unarmed strike from Tome of Battle.

In a twisted multi-class combo, I created a Battle Dancer / Binder NPC. She was one preeminent rebel if I ever created one.
Still, I would not mind if the Battle Dancer were created with Fortitude Saves to match their Dexterity Saves. And maybe bonus feats for the ability to dodge like a Monk or Rouge?
