As long as everyone is comfortable with me only posting once a day its fine with me, its actually more work for frenchwolf in my opinion cause if I find their are too many i can just ignore half the party, you can't frenchy
oh yeah the elvish translation of my thing is basically sod off, you lack conviction (its only pig elvish sue me)
and yeah, if now watch me get hit in the head with a flying urn cover, and then have the annoyed monster come eat me.

Ragadolf |

Yah, posting the long elvish translations is a pain in the patootie.
(For some reason I canNOT copy the translation from the website, no grabbing the translated material at all) So most of my elvish will be short and probably pig-elvish too boot! :)
Yah, I figured that would be Roman's response, and He probably has a good reason. Fazaam just doesn't know what it is. :P

Logos |
its a sucker faced monster, do i really need something better.
My character is just bitter that something bad happened before he could get to the zatari, who is now dead or a mosnter or both.
But yeah its a monster for crap sake, you would need a preety good reason not to kill it (and shuffling in combat = not optimum)

Gentlemen when I offered Guy the chance to join in, two players mentioned they may like a spot.
Patrick Curtin and Kruelaid have been roleplaying in the World Serpent Inn discussion thread without a DM for three or four weeks and I'd recommend them. Patrick definitely wants in and Kruelaid is currently starring as a drunken dwarf in Heathy's new Saltmarsh game.
However Utak, TheOcho, Logos, Ragadolf, and thereal thom I don't want to increase the size of the party beyond six if any of you are against it.
Over to you
Cheers
I said I would get back to them by Monday evening UK time so I'll wait for your responses until then.
I am out this evening now. thanks for replying promptly gentlemen, I'll tell Patrick he is in. Like I said earlier seven is it.
I take on board what you're saying Logos about covering you guys. personally I think this one is going to be driven by the players and Patrick (and Guy) will just add to that. My job just got easier.
Cheers

Yah,
Combat, Lvl 1='Crapshoot' (Specially for us low-hp die types!)
Ah, the indignities we suffer trying to survive long enough to reach 2nd or 3rd level!
:D
oh, um, yeah, the 'waffling in combat' bit. You're right of course. I was trying to demonstrate the difficult time he was having trying to decide whether to run and save his friend, or stay and try to save Fudrick's cousin. (Despite his difficulties with his own family, he does believe strongly in family ties!) But that wasn't coming through as clear as I had hoped.
I'll do better! ;P
On with the show!

Kruelaid |

Hey Wolf,
You and I, dude, are on the same wavelength. I just noticed that you had the same idea as me: Shaharazad. That was going to be one of my DM personas for a "Qadiran nights" campaign. And this one too: Abathur. Maybe I'll ditch it now that you've already deployed it... hmmm.

Does anyone else think it funny that the 2 nominal heavy hitters, Ghari and Yrar, are being outshone in this combat by the druid, spellcaster, and 2 cute little gnomes? At least Ghari has been a damage sponge.
And I never would have been in this fix except Ghari was afraid Yrar would think him a coward if he had just kept falling back and sticking Yoraal with arrows.
Can't wait to see what Fazaam says about the "mighty ranger".

Patrick Curtin |

Hello everyone. I just stumbled on the posting by French Wolf that you have graciously invited me to your game. I am delighted, and I will be more than happy to fufill any role that the party needs. I have the day off today, so I will be checking on and off between house chores.

Great, Patrick.
There is a recent post on the last page, which I did for Guy, that outlines the party.
The beginning of this thread is the meat on the setting and classes.
The party has gradually grown so each new person now has a bit of a free rein.
I'd recommend coming up with some ideas yourself based on the party makeup and the background and seeing which one fits you the most.
For everyone, so far I am most proud of this campaign because of the banter. The discussion thread is great and makes me smile or laugh most days.
As for Yrar, he was a great heavy hitter in the first and second combats. They do seem a long time ago now.
Cheers

Hey D&D is a team game, sometimes having a damage sponge is very useful :), but I doubt this cute little gnome is going to be able to continue dishing out the damage. This thing stands up I got less then a 50% to hit it!
Does Ghari have a knife on him? Maybe with an aid other roll I could help him get a knife in his hand. Knives being light weapons can be used in a grapple.

Sinbad would be proud to know Marwan. Shulim the beguiler has been the rogue so far, but he is cursed. You may want to think about a future multi-class option so that you and Shulim aren't both filling the same role.
I doubt Shulim would mind having another skill monkey in the party to pick up the slack. Sides if I had someone that could become a trap or lock specialist it would free up ranks for me to focus on something else.

Yes he does, but I imagine him unable to draw it, either because he's physically obstructed or paniced. On the otherhand his short sword is lying on the ground nearby.

I think a short sword is piercing, not so good against undead flesh, and I think most undead have DR 5-10 vs piercing.

Good point, it's partly why I've been so very very very effective.

how is it that 98 % mischance fails again or am i missing something, I mean magic weapon check, good role check? am i just wasting my time or should i be attempting to fight these things
Yep, Ragadolf is correct. Perhaps I should have been more explicit, but the mists provide total concealment and that gives the 50% miss chance.
So 01-50 hit, 51+ miss.
Next time, I'll spell it out mate.
Cheers

Thanks for the update.

I wish I could see the look on Guy's face (Ragadolf's and TheOcho's too) when you read what has just happened in the main thread.
My instincts tell me that this is a great move in the fight, but as your DM I can honestly say I will not be doing it very often. Although in future it may be wise to say you are carefully checking the body for signs of life before jumping close.
Or even asking is he really dead?
I would have given you a Sense Motive check versus his Bluff. However in this case the bluff worked because no one expected it.
Cheers

Well I read your post here first Mr. Wolf so I wasn't as surprised as I would have been. Of course my first thought was Zartari smashing the urns after he was fully transformed. Just in case, that last sentence is trademarked so you can't use that in the adventure ;)
I just want to say that I am really enjoying myself. You are a great DM, a little diabolical, but great nonetheless. All of the players so far are doing an awesome job of RPing their characters. Fazaam, Yrar, and Roman you guys are great and each day I eagerly await your posts. Shulim's character seems to have jumped right in and is starting off with a bang.
Thanks again to all of you for making this such a great game.

Zombies rock at playing dead. I might have seen it coming but I doubt my cursed little character could of. He just hasn't played enough half-life or seen all the zombie related media I have :D. Good move Mr. Wolf. Shulim probably won't last another round though, he might be able to get a single hit in with his knife, but this thing's gonna squeeze him out. If a certain half-orc wanted to become a hero this would be the time to do it.

Utak |

Hey folks, sorry for the delay. Work is still slamming me this week. Finally saw my office and a computer. Should make it home tonight, sometime ....
Will post then
Sorry French Wolf
But will get back in the game before night's end.
Cheers

![]() |
No worries Utak. I am around this weekend so I'll keep an eye on the boards.
Take your time though the party are slowly being whittled down.
Cheers
I got my weekly game this Saturday (and we're playing STAP this week) so I might not be able to post much tomorrow (which would be fine if the gnome goes down ;)).

Weekends are for Real Life.
I asked the original players to post daily during the week and as and when over the weekend. We pick the action up on Sunday night anything else is a bonus.
Cheers
We normally game on Sundays but this week it's a Saturday. Between work and children I'm sometimes surprised that some of us can play at all anymore.

I would like to second this sentiment. Although the last two days have been killer for me, I really look forward to being involved in this game on a daily basis. I really like the interaction with the different characters, the setting is great, and the encounters are interesting and original. I also enjoy your company, as players, as well.
Cheers

Yes - lets heap the pressure on Yrar and his dice!
I haven't seen three one's on the trot for a while....
Cheers
I think that at night, my split personality takes over and weights my dice. Man, I just hope I don't hit any of you .... Crap!
We'll find out soon. Over to the IC thread shortly ...

Yep, I DM a group of thirty and forty somethings once a month on a Saturday and getting everyone together for a day is a bit of a nightmare. I am absolutely knackered the day after, but they seem to be enjoying themselves.
They started at zero level and are now 4th, which makes them feel super powerful now. A strong growing campaign is very satisfying, isn't it?
Last night I made myself a promise that I would run a party from zero level as a pbp. Probably from the medieval/knights/dragons/robin hood part of my homebrew land.
It will require a lot of effort initially so I have it on the backburner at the moment.
