Ghari comes from the poor quarter of Mussal, but his large family has always been well-regarded for the integrity and heart-stopping conformity. Although a dutiful son, he took any opportunity to head into the woods or wander the backstreets with his boyhood friends. He worked with his father and brothers in the family fishing business until his father died. (He still occasionally goes out with them. ) His father's death caused a slight rift in the family. The older brothers had conflicting plans for the family business. As a younger son, Ghari found himself without any voice in the arguments, and grew increasingly apart from the others. It just seemed natural to return to the forest and he's had some success hunting game for his family and neighbors.
Meeting Fazaam was a turning point for Ghari. Although Ghari distrusted the elf's intentions toward his sister, Temusa. Some of the elf's glamour was reflected on the quiet young man, and the stories Fazaam fabricated would have been entertainment enough, without the thrill of being a character in them. It was great fun until the Sea Witch came into the picture.
Now Ghari's first priority is to get his sister back. Longer term goals include 1) doing some heroic undefined thing to raise his standing in the family enough to draw it back together. (Making a lot of money so that he could finance the older brother's diffferent business ideas would probably reduce family conflict more, but G sees it rather more romantically.) 2)making enough money to get some swanky clothes and impress the parents of Zoe, a girl he's had a crush on since childhood. 3) having a little fun.
