An easy run of 60 feet/round carries them off the map and well on their way towards the Cathedral entrance. So, in answer to your question - Yes, even if only because there are some hefty men with sharp metal objects between the goblins and they.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Just checking, thanks. Didn't know if Aunt Luba, the gods bless her, had it in her.

Male Human (Varisian) Rogue/1

sorry about the delay fellas

Rilo looks around at his friends and decides that he is more effective to move with the group than against it, so he moves to pair up with his kenzo

"Rilo!," someone shouts, "The goblins are the other way!" ;)

How about we consider that a delay action to move towards the fight when Kenzo moves? Kenzo's turn.

Kenzo

Spoiler:
If considering a charge, the goblin at A13 is 55 feet away and Kenzo has a clear path to him. There is someone in the way for all the other goblins.

Male Human (Varisian) Rogue/1

cool, yeah im sort of lost without the map haha

You read my mind - I thought I'd go for it before Magazin gets double teamed. AC14 & a torch, right?

Kenzo grins, seeing two other strangers stepping up to engage the goblins coming up the street, but we he sees one of them, a half-elf priest by the looks of it, is about to be double teamed by a gobbo with a torch, Kenzo charges through the crowd to strike it down.

5+1+2=8 to hit

Unfortunately, for the second time in a matter of minutes, Kenzo leaps through the air to deliver a powerful kick . . . and misses.

It seems like I'm either getting okay roles, or really bad ones.

Kenzo's movement brings him into line next to the half-elven priest. The goblin, swinging his torch with glee, cackles at Kenzo's clumsy kick and chatters something in his own tongue.

Rilo, though not attacking, moves into the line next to Kenzo, weapon at the ready.

Rilo [a,12], Kenzo [b,12], Magazin [c,12]

Gyorgy and then Eugen

Fully aware that he's rubbish in a fight, but with litle other option, Gyorgy lashes out violently toward the Goblin with his Starknife.

Unfortunately Gyorgy proves himself right in the worst way possible, fumbling his attack.

oh, dear.

Male Human Fighter 1

i charge south to assist in the attack on Gyorgy's goblin. (assuming that it's okay to charge at a slight angle)

"yaaa!", i yell, thinking to myself 'this sure beats shopping!'

attacking goblin in E11: 1d20+7=18

damage: 1d8 +3=4

Daniel, you can charge at an angle, but not around someone. Either way, the roll is high enough to hit the goblin without the charge.

Gyorgy needs to make a reflex save, DC 10.

this is prbably the moment when i wish i'd taken the toughness feat.

Gyorgy is fine. :) The virtual dice like him well enough this time. DC was 10, not 11.

Gyorgy’s thrust at the goblin is badly timed, but he manages to recover before the rusty looking dogslicer can find his throat. The goblin chitters, “Longshanks will…”

And that is when Eugen’s sword knocks aside his shield and cuts him. Blood spills out onto the dirt. The goblin’s face, his back to the burning wagon, is dark but his teeth flash white in the growing night as he shrieks in anger.

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1 HP 10/10 | AC 15/11/14 | CMD 12 | saves F+2 R+2 W+3 | Vision: Perception +5, Sense Motive +1; Init +5 | Status: Normal

Bless has a duration of 1 minute/level. We've not gone for 10 rounds of combat yet, so regardless of Zantus' level we should still be blessed.

Although, obviously, Wicht can change that as he likes.

The Bless will last for four minutes, total. The break between the two fights was only about thirty seconds. So the bless is still in effect.

Magazin deftly avoids a lunge from the goblin’s dogslicer and his star knife flicks out and catches the gray skinned goblin under it’s chin.

As the goblin dances back, shrieking, Magazin notices that it has a dead toad in its shield hand. With a snarl it bites the head off the toad. This is so unexpected, Magazin lowers his guard for just a moment and the goblin’s dogslicer finds its mark as the goblin darts back at Magazin, blood trickling down his chin.

Attack roll: 18 +3 = 21; Damage: 3

Magazin grunts as the blade cuts across his leg, but he manages to parry before the goblin can follow through.

The goblin Kenzo charged is still chattering and chittering in its own tongue at Kenzo, so amused by this man attacking with his feet. Fortunately for Kenzo, the creature puts more effort into laughing at him than attacking and its torch waves hot but harmless in Kenzo’s direction.

Attack: 3 +3 = 6

The dark skinned goblin Eugen hit, unlike his companions, grows suddenly silent in his fury. Turning his attention to Eugen he attacks with a fluid grace so totally unlike his prior exuberant behavior. Eugen finds himself suddenly hard pressed.

Attack: 18 +3 = 21; Damage: 1

Meanwhile, the Warchanter, furious and shaking off the effects of the spell that had stunned him so begins banging on the side of the burning hay wagon and shrieking out his song.

Goblins slash and Goblins bite,
Goblins kill you in a fight!

Buoyed, the goblin near to him capers for a second and then charges at Magazin with his torch.

Attack: 11 +3+2 = 16; Damage: 1 I know I rolled a 2 but it should have been a d2 not a d4, hence the 1 damage.

Magazin can’t well defend against a second front and the torch singes him. Behind the torch-bearer, another goblin creeps forward stealthily.

Goblin with torch, moves to [d,13], Last Goblin moves to [f,12].

Rilo and then Kenzo

Rilo hesitates, unsure of his best action.

Rilo delays for a count of 10.

Kenzo, followed by Gyorgy.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo is concerned with the half-elf priest's injuries and acts quickly, hoping to end the fight. He acts with a flurry of blows, striking first at the goblin in front of him, but then missing the goblin in front of Rilo.

18-1=17 to hit, 3+1=4 damage, then 5-1=4 to hit

Kenzo’s attack stun’s the goblin in front of him. It staggers back for a moment and then crumples to the ground. A half chewed toad’s head rolls from its mouth.

The torch bearing goblin, seeing his comrade fall, shrieks and drops his torch on the ground.

Gyorgy’s blow against his foe, though slight is enough to stagger the small creature. It stumbles, woozily, eye’s suddenly bleary. hp=0

Eugen, then Rilo

Male Human Fighter 1

as i understand, the goblin in front of gyorgy and i is somehow just barely alive?

i swing for the death blow, inwardly cursing the goblin's tenacity:

to attack: 1d20+5=21

to damage: 1d8+2=7

'why is it i'm always at my best when only doing target practice?' i think to myself.

hp=0 means just this side of being upright. At -1 hp you lose consciousness and collapse. -10 hp is dead.

Eugen's swift stroke neatly ends the goblins stunned amazement and the small monster falls in a bloody heap to the ground.

One reminder concerning combat for each of you. Don't forget that either before or after a full attack (or an action), you can still move five feet in any direction without penalty. Doing so will often put you in a better position.

Two goblins down and back to waiting for Rilo. :)

Magazin can go and if Rilo does not post before then, I'll roll for him this round. Possibly its holiday issues keeping him away from the computer.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Hey, Rilo, good to see you. You should have a new map in your email inbox, and yes, there is a goblin in front of you, and yes, I think you did score a hit.

Rilo's blade slices the unfortunate goblin across it's face and it cries out as it strives to draw its dog-slicer. The torch it had been carrying sputters in the wind as it lies upon the ground between Rilo and the goblin.

Figured it was some such. A couple of days and then things will settle down for most everyone I imagine.

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

Stepping back, behind Kenzo (b11), I pray to Desna to assist us in our plight, "Desna, grant us one of your guardians so that this day we may be successful in defending this down from those that threaten it."

Cast Summon Monster I to bring in a Celestial Badger at c12

Casting time is 1 round. I'll let you redesignate the location of the celestial badger on your next turn if necessary. And thanks for the song - Now I'm going to have that little ditty stuck in my head all afternoon. :/ :)

As Magazin steps back and begins casting his spell, the goblin with the torch begins to follow and then seeing Kenzo, the creature cackles, “Unarmed Longshanks!” His cackle is answered with a shriek of glee from the goblin across the street. The second goblin shrieks something in the goblin tongue even as he charges in to attack the monk. The torch-waver, bolstered, moves in to aid him.

The first goblin’s attack, though fierce, is wild. Kenzo, warned by the war-cries, manages to side-step the goblin’s rusty blade. Unfortunately he sidesteps to the right, allowing an opening for the second goblin. The hot torch connects with Kenzo’s skin.

Goblin charges (1d20+5=10)
Goblin thrusts a torch at Kenzo (1d20+3=18); damage (1d2=2)

The injured goblin, bleeding from the wound Rilo inflicted upon him, licks his lips. He draws out a wicked looking dog-slicer and, with a sudden fiendish speed, retaliates.

Goblin attacks Rilo (1d20+3=15); damage (1d4=2)

Rilo moves too slowly and the goblin returns almost as good as he received. With a shrill laugh the little goblin winks at Rilo.

Near the burning wagon, the goblin chanter ceases to bang and sing. Eerily the song continues without him, other shrill voices carrying its weird words through the streets of Sandpoint. The little goblin bard mutters a few indistinct words and then, with an evil, toothy grin it capers forward and points at Kenzo. The monk feels magical energies suddenly try to seize control of his body and mind.

Kenzo
Kenzo needs to make a Will save (DC 11). If he makes it, he can act normally. If he fails he can do nothing this round. The charging goblin’s AC drops to 12. The other two goblins remain at AC 14.

MAP

Spoiler:
The two goblins attacking Kenzo move to [c,12] and [c,13]. The goblin attacking Rilo remains at [a,13]. The Goblin bard moves to [c,15].

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Will save (1d20=11+6=17)

Feeling an unnatural presence probing his brain, Kenzo's training takes over and he exhales, letting go of all thoughts as he takes on a state of 'no mind,' denying the invader any hold.

That badger song was fun, and adding links to posts does add a little something, doesn't it?

With a renewed focus and a crisp and deliberate motion, Kenzo lashes out and hits the goblin that just charged him with an open palm heel strike dead center on its chest. 1d20+1=12 to hit, 1d6+1=7 damage

Something looks funny with the second roll result. If I'm reading in wrong, please let me know.

Kenzo strikes and the goblin gasps for breath. No breath makes it into his small chest and the little monster collapses backwards a second later. He is still wheezing even as his eyes roll back in his head.

Gyorgy

Spoiler:
Lim has been following Aunt Luba and the other two, fluttering through the sky above them as they make their way to the cathedral. Gyorgy feels a wave of relieve wash suddenly over his familiar and realizes almost instinctively that his family is safe.

The nearest goblin, ten feet away [c,13] is waving a torch at an unarmed man dressed in monk robes, the self-same man who just felled a goblin with a single blow. A second goblin, just west of the torch-waver, drips blood from a wound, but there is no doubting the murderous gleam in the little beast's eyes as he lunges with his bloodied dog-slicer at his foes.

And just in front of the wagon, of course, stands the goblin bard.

Male Human (Varisian) Bard 1 HP 10/10 | AC 15/11/14 | CMD 12 | saves F+2 R+2 W+3 | Vision: Perception +5, Sense Motive +1; Init +5 | Status: Normal

Gyorgy's heart lifts at Lim's news, and once again he gives secret thanks for his little friend. Calmer now, and with a little breathing space to assess the situation, Gyorgy decides to try and thin the goblin ranks further by launching a magic missile at the wounded goblin.

Wicht can roll the damage, or i'll do it when I get home, whichever comes first

Gyorgy's magic missile (1d4+1=2)

The already wounded goblin, so intently focused is he on Rilo, almost doesn't see the glowing magical attack coming as it weaves its way through the air. At the last second, when he catches it out of the corner of his eye, he tries to throw up his shield to block it but the magic missile unerringly strikes him.

So weak as to barely be able to stand, the goblin becomes suddenly quiet and it is clear the fight is knocked out of him.

hp=0

Male Human Fighter 1

I swiftly charge the nearest goblin down the street. (in c13 if my reconstruction of the map is correct)

to hit, c13: 1d20 +7=27

eee, natural 20!

to damage, c13: 1d8 +3 =10

and then that gets multiplied by two, is that right?

also i don't think i said yet, happy new year everyone!

Actually to achieve a critical you would reroll the d20. If your second roll was sufficient to also hit then you get the critical. On a critical you would then roll 2d8+6 {as opposed to (1d8+3)x2}.

So...it should look something like this Eugen's threatened critical roll: (1d20+7=14); critical damage: (1d8+3=5)

Total damage then 10+5 = 15

With a single stroke, Eugen sends the goblins head flying. The little corpse takes another step or two and then falls on its side. The head lands near the feet of the goblin chanter, whose eye's widen suddenly in fear.

Rilo

Spoiler:
The goblin in front of you is not quite floored (0 hp) but the fight is certainly gone from his attitude. In fact he looks suspiciously like he wants to be someplace else right this very minute. His lips quiver in fear and there are tears in his eyes.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

I was getting worried, but what a difference a round can make. One punch, one nice decapitation, and a bolt of magical energy and things are looking better.

Thanks, Eugen. I went with the other gobbo first because he had the lower AC and the higher damage potential, but I wasn't looking forward to the one with the torch getting in another lick.

Male Human Fighter 1

haha, i'm sure my character would be glad to know he helped to ease your worries :) i'll let him know.

Male Human (Varisian) Rogue/1

Rilo growls slightly at the goblin while making his next attack at the goblin, "You'll not live to share that revenge story with your ugly pals!"

1d20-1=3 attack roll

The sound of screams and yells continue to fill the town. Your particular section of the goblin invasion glows red with the light of the burning hay wagon. It is beginning though to look like your small group may win this particular battle as only the goblin bard remains to put up any real fight. Magazin Fibros

I then move around my compatriots and attack the Chanting Goblin.
Starknife attack and damage roll. (1d20=15+2+2=19, 1d4=3+2=5)

I think the end result is 6 points of damage 1 for the Badger since a hit does at least 1 point and 5 from Magazin's Starknife.

AC 17. Don't forget your +2 flanking bonuses, nor the celestial badger's smite ability.

Sovereign Court

That was a full attack from the badger, so I don't think it can be a smite (normal melee attack).

GeraintElberion wrote:

He edited in the attacks after I made my post. Though I always understood the normal melee attack of the smite definition to mean it could be part of a full attack (though only 1 attack in a series). I never considered it as a full round action all of its own. I could be wrong in my interpretation though and I will look into it.

The goblin chanter staggers from the blows from the front and the back. He stumbles away from Magazin, trying to cast a spell at the cleric.

Move back to [d,16]; Attack of opportunity from the badger. If the attack fails, Magazin needs to make a Will save, DC 11.

The other remaining goblin drops his weapon and attempts to flee, croaking out in the common tongue, "mercy, mercy."

Attacks of opportunity from Rilo and Kenzo.

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

Celestial Badger free strike!
Celestial Badger attack of opportunity. (1d20+4=21)
Celestial Badger damage roll (1d2-1=0)

So one more point from the Celestial Badger.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Refusing to kill a wounded opponent begging for mercy, Kenzo opts for a nonlethal attack, and throws a punch that hits the goblin squarely on the chin, knocking it unconscious.

knock out punch 20+1=21 to hit, 5+1=6 nonlethal damage; crit roll 5+1=6 to hit

"Quick," he exclaims to Rilo as he tears off his top, "Cut this into strips and bind him before he comes around."

Addled, the goblin bard continues to try and finish the spell he was already casting.

Goblin War Chanter's concentration check: (1d20=20)

Through a supreme effort of will he manages the spell and then promptly passes out.

Magazin can attempt a Will save to fight the daze if he desires (DC11). It doesn't matter game wise, as this fight appears over and the spell last about 6 seconds.

The conjured badger grunts something inaudible and then is gone, back to the divine realms he was born to.

Sounds of combat here and there indicate the goblin threat is not entirely over. The strange singing however is now much fainter and muted.

From the northeast each of you hear the sound of running feet coming your way.
