I'm sorry, Heath, if your interested in Infectious Lass you'll have to talk to Freehold about it. He's obviously interested as well. I had no idea you had a thing for her as well. Yeh, I got the same feeling when the Science Police sent out all those "Congratulations--you've won Super Bowl Tickets!!!" letters, and you go down there, and they throws ya in Arkham Asylum for some crime that ya didn't even do, but their faulty lie detector scanner says youse lying.

I am SO there. Oh, btw, the SW6 version of me is codenamed "Antibody" and mutates to deal with new hostile enviornments moreso than just healing from disease quickly. Just had to point that out.

Antibody, hey that is actually a pretty darn good name. As far as a date with Infectious Lass, I understand she likes to watch meteorite showers off of Rilor 9. I guess it rivals the fireworks shows of the 21st century. She is also into community service....but for some reason, no one else shows up everytime she signs up to help.

Heath......22 Accounts of criminal actions and all you have to say for yourself is "dogs and cats DO rule the earth. Nuthin to do with me. This is a frame job."

I'm shaking my head in disbelief. I think you should send me your stats and I'll use you for my starting villain in the Legion of Super-Heroes RPG.

WOW, I had so much to say about that response Heath. Regretfully all of it was totally inappropriate for this board or any other for that matter. A shame, taken at face value it was funny. But alas, I shall not "dirty" Paizo's best thread and get it yanked. So I am going to leave this one alone. Wish I could tell you, but I can't. Sorry!

Similar to Valegrim, I've got a bunch of characters written up for various games on my website. (GURPS Supers, Aberrant and Mutants & Masterminds)

The M&M page has write ups for Legion Legacies (a team consisting of the kids of the original silver age Legion) and 'Freedom's Rejects,' a team of 'subs' for a similar setting, as well as a few other teams or groupings that could be fun to pillage for ideas such as a group of flying heroes from an Academy for super-training and a European-Union centric team of heroes.

Thanks Set. I flipped through and saw tons of names I have never heard of. Are these things fans made up or is it taken from one of the re-boot series or what? Feel free to post some villains of interest I'd like to see them.

Oh hey, I just noticed this reply! Silly me.

It's all stuff I wrote up, as far as I know it's mostly original (some are converions of M&M characters, but the Legion Legacies and Freedom's Rejects are all original).

Legion Legacies, the dozen-odd characters I came up with as children of the original silver age Legionnaires (mostly), got vaguely fanfic-ish, but I'm okay with that. (Obviously, since there's a link to actual Legion fanfic at the bottom of the page...) I came up with fairly original-feeling kids for Garth & Imra, Brin & Ayla, Val & Jeckie, Lar & Tasmia, Jo & Tinya, Rokk & Jasmin (one of my departures from Silver Age, as I liked Kid Quantum II), Drake & Shikari (the other non-Silver Age pairing), Thom & Nura, Gim & Yera, Chuck & Lu and Brainy & a cloning tank (he didn't find anyone up to his standards, apparently).

The M&M setting has a Legion analogue called the 'Freedom Legion,' and I made Freedom's Rejects as a Substitute Legion rip-off. I always liked the subs, and the leader of Freedom's Rejects I made a character with the same sort of powers as Ron-Karr, but actually useful. :)

Other M&M conversions are fairly eclectic, such as the Primal Defenders, a conversion of the Scoobies (from Buffy, not the cartoon with the dog) if they were Bill Willingham's Elementals, Six-Pack, a group of 'kids' of the X-Men who were created by Sinister in his do-it-yourself mutant-genome-project, the Night Brood, some alternate Nightcrawlers from the execrable Chuck Austen storyline where he was one of dozens of teleporting half-demon mutants and random other crazy stuff, like the Scales of Justice, a superhero team from a world of anthropomorphic dinosaurs...

I love how the Legion talks all these grandiose high ideals, and then, when they need a dirty deed done dirt cheap, they come to the Dogman. Cos they know I'll deliver the goods.

I don't get you. First your uncertain about your powers, then you start committing all of these terrible crimes, then you want to be Legion Leader, then you commit more crimes and try and drag the rest of in with you, then you get a shot at redemption, then you complain about the Legion having grandiose high ideals....Other than a little respect....what is it that you really want? And exactly who came to you about getting a dirty deed done? The only dirty deed I have had a part of is when you pooped in my shoe.

Thankyou, I wish I had read your original post more carefully. You did say it was your website and I missed that, guess I was in to much of a hurry and went straight for the link. I've been saving all these links you guys give me as well, just want you to know that its all been really appreciated. I found tons of art on these sites along with a few others I've come across. Needs lots of art for a rulebook and character sheets (I'm calling them Legionnaire Database's rather than character sheets.)

I sent Valegrim a few rules as well. He didn't really ask for them, he just wanted an email because he was bored. So I sent him about 6 pages or so.

Wow, I had a pretty productive night. Was tired but just didn't want to go to sleep. Put together my Legion screensaver. I had no idea that so many naughty pictures were drawn of supergirl. Even a couple of Phantom Girl, Shrinking Violet and Saturn Girl. Over 500 pictures. Still missing pictures of some of the less popular Legionnaires though.

Also went through the Wikipedia and found a bunch of basic background stuff for Legionnaires and major villains. Got it all filed away, now I just need to read it, re-write it. and add it to the Legionnaire database (character sheets) I have been putting together. The sheets are still pretty bare looking but at the top in big fancy letters I put the Legionnaires name. The letters are color coded to match the costumes as well. Right underneath the name is the Legion logo, to the left side are the stats (15 total), Powers underneath that, and the center right contains a picture of the Legionnaire put in either a oval or square frame. So I was happy.

This site has a lot of fanart, indeed, an entire sub-forum dedicated to sketches, photomanipulations, fanfic and more unusual Legion-specific arts and crafts (such as handmade figures, or sculted busts, etc).

The arts thread.

A specific art thread with links to dozens of others, as they change topic each month and generate pictures, etc. based on that topic, so that one month it will be 'Legion as Ninjas and Pirates!' and the next it will be pics of Ayla Ranzz.

Thank you, I shall make liberal use of them. I may even join the forums after I get a feel for the sites. I put sites like this under "favorites" so I can find them later. Many of them I need to check out in detail.

I visit the one I linked to daily (it's hella slow during working hours EST, their server is choking on the traffic, might wanna check at night!), and have even contributed to the fanfic stuff (me no do the art thing, although I am greatly envious of those who can).

There's one thread in the BITS section (the arts threads) where some guy posted up pictures of busts that he and a friend sculpted, of Dawnstar, Wildfire, Mon-El, etc. and they are *insanely* good. As in better-than-most-professionals good.

Ok, this is getting old.... I'm working on my game, everything is going fine, and then I get that little bug..."Gee, I wonder how the DC or Marvel game does this?" Now I told myself not to look unless I am stuck, but tonight was different. I'm working on the equivelent of XP and everything is going fine. Then I get curious and look in the other games.....guess what, pretty much the same concept. Hmmmmm....irritating at the very least. So do I go with my own flow and continue even though it is going to look like a rip off or do I throw the concept away and start over, just so it is different.

What would you do?

Do what you think works. If someone else did it, and it worked for them too, that just means your as clever as they were!

Originality is over-rated. The last thing I want to do is get stuck on the highway behind someone who'se decided to find an 'original' way to drive to work...

I have to agree. If you're really stumped, look up some of the d6 rules. They are fast and simple- hell, I still use 'em to play star wars.

well, in the Heros system; each experience point is spent as character points; so if you get 3 experience points ;then you have 3 points to spend on a new skill or power or increasing an already existing one; so the base exps for a night is 1 point for showing up and playing; usually with a good game session you get 2 or 3; and maybe 5 for the end of a entire scenario that took several nights to complete. I think this works fairly well as there is a direct relationship between experience and character development. Also; villians get exps for being in a scenario so they also increase in power by being there and more for accomplishing their goals.

Superhero games such as in the Palladium system; exps are the familiar chart whereas you need a few thousand in a growing scale to level up and get some increase in power as that level increases; the why and wherefor as to the meaning of these numbers is more obscure and these games are more dependant on grinding out exps by vanquishing hordes of bad guys or generous rewards for completing adventures by the gm; with the sense of scale in exps advancement per gm varies much more than in a Hero's game system approach.

I have not read my Marvel stuff in a while, but my book is sitting on the end table; I can look it up if you like.

Hows about Valegrim looks up Marvel stuff, and I look up old school Star Wars/d6 rules?

Freehold DM wrote:

Well I have the Marvel game here at home and they use Karma which to my understanding is something you acquire as you play, then spend it to adjust die rolls and buy new powers. My Top Secret/S.I. game gives Fame & Fortune Points which translate directly to skill points and similiar uses as well. At this point it is the approach I'm taking. It makes a lot more sense than like D&D to me. I'll post the basic rule concepts here if you like and you evalauate the idea. I may have sent them to you Valegrim (don't remember).

Freehold, I would like the d6 concepts if you would be nice enough. Either post the concept here or at Eileen.Prophet.of.Istus@gmail.com

But I don't like Star Wars. I like Star Trek (original series). Fred Flinstone earns XP from a little green guy too; he's call The Great Gazoo.

Heathansson wrote:

I did watch a couple of star wars movies and I guess I just couldn't get into the story, characterization and general depiction of space and what the future would be like. Honestly, I have nothing against Star Wars, in fact, I was just trying to ruffle your fur. Did it work? I do think that it will go on pretty much forever as will Star Trek. So for me, Star Wars is just there....for someone else, it's great.
