Quoth the Raven Rawks!

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

Logue, I know you've got a third part to this trilogy rattling around in your skull. What is it and where will we see it?

Ha! Thanks for the Rawks Jeb! No word just yet on if "Hell's Heart" will ever see print...but I'll keep you informed! Glad you dug the Raven!

I knew I smelled a sequel set-up in the treatment of the Asylum!

Your nose has not failed you Demiurge!!! ;-)

the one thing I noticed is the Archives map was missing the basement. I haven't read that far into the adeventure, so I don't know if it something critical or if I can just make it up.

Other than that, like Chimes at Midnight, I LOVE this adventure. Would love to see the third in the series.

Great adventure with some... interesting.... reading. Nic, a mind that can come up with that stuff, you may need some help.

The hostage on the steps though seemed very tame compared to the other two. Were you giving our minds a respite or was some demented scene cut for space reasons?

Mr. Logue,

Excellent module and what I've come to expect from one of the fiendishly clever trio of Vaughan, Logue, and Pett. It looks like Hell's Heart will see print for 3.5. If you go to the Wizards website (which is very dodgy right now with the massive crush of people wanting to find out more about 4E), and click on the "Dungeon" tab, this is what you get:

Starting in October, this is your destination for
the best in D&D adventures. Coming in issue #151,
we’ll be wrapping up a three-part Eberron series,
which began with “Chimes at Midnight” in issue #133,
as well as returning to a classic 1st Edition
adventure, updated for D&D 3.5.

So, soon we'll find out what Mr. Logue cooked up for the conclusion of the trilogy. I look forward to it.

Yeah, just spotted that. And I was *not* going to continue with Dungeon once it went digital. Conundrum...

Hell’s Heart

By Nicolas Logue

The three-part Eberron adventure series that began with “Chimes at Midnight” in issue #133 and continued with “Quoth the Raven” in issue #150 concludes in this chilling visit to Sharn’s sanitarium. A final showdown is brewing in the dark, depraved depths of the asylum, and if the PCs aren’t up to the task, the chaos inside the walls of Hell’s Heart could erupt to engulf the city.

My understanding is that the D&D Insider will be free for the rest of the year, so we may get this as a free preview.

BTW, the classic D&D module revisited?

Iggwilv’s Legacy: The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth

By Edward Albert, Ari Marmell, and C.A. Suleiman

One of the most ambitious projects to ever hit Dungeon, the classic 1st Edition module is freshly updated to D&D 3.5. Plus, the adventure features a new prelude and a follow-up adventure that takes the PCs to Tsojcanth’s lair.

I just like the idea of seeing your friend or loved one beheaded. To me there is nothing more f#*!ed up than the decapitated head of someone you care about. Mouth still working, but no sound coming, still-seeing eyes darting about in horror...shiver. I think that's suitably messed up. You are hard to please on the f!**ed-up-o-meter DMFTodd!!! ;-)

Ha! I shall try harder next time...those poor editors. :-)

yeah, though i don't run ebberon, both of these adventures will make it into my home brew campaign. excellent writing all around. will there be a third?

oh yeah, and Mr. Logue, excellent DMing there with the youtube video. i see that you make an excellent DM. i bet your players are spoiled. Good Work!

The third will be available as part of the free preview of DI (It comes out in Dungeon #151 and is called "Hell's Heart"). Thank god its part of the free preview, that makes me feel better about getting it out to people who wanted to read it. I originally wanted to do it as a free web supplement to #150 for Paizo, but there was not enough time. Now at least it's still free.

Thanks for the kind words too terrainmonkey! I don't have any players just yet in New York (well I have a bunch of friends I play with, but no steady game yet) so I hope to spoil them first chance I get!!! :-)

Ha! Just saw this! Weird watching myself DM!!! Madness! Is the Iron DM snippet up yet?

I'm really happy to hear that WotC will be finishing off this excellent trilogy and hope it indicates a willingness on their part to continue the best parts of the Paizo years. In other words: The Styes. Pett, that's your cue.

Cunning choice of words, Logue. "Print." Very cunning indeed.

Muuuhahahahah!

I hope WotC prints some more Styes. I know how to light a fire under Pett's ass...I'll email Chris Thomasson and offer to write some adventures set in the Styes for him...since it's WotC IP now. OH, I'M SOOOOO EVIL!!!

The Exchange

I'm nearly done reading through "Quoth the Raven", and what an awesome scenario. Such wonderful atmosphere, and truly twisted villains. I missed "Chimes at Midnight", but this is so cool I might just have to get that, and I'm really looking forward to "Hell's Heart"!

I'm sure Pett will be delighted when I run Chimes and Quoth for my Styes campaign.
