Ant thought what class your character will be? Looking at our current party composition, the two big archtypes we seem to be missing are some form of Scout Character, and dedicated Arcanist. Now, you don't need to play either of them, but if you were playing one, I would play the other.

If you are playing something else altogether, I'll most probably play a Conjurer (Battlefield Controller).

I will try to get my PC typed in tomorrow morning but I have to leave at 1pm on the 7th and won't be returning until 8-9pm on the 8th. Please don't give away my place, I will be back and prepped soon.

Male, but you really don't want to know how to check gender on a beholder... Human. You just can't beat that extra feat and those extra skill points. Gamer 20 (specialist school - DMing)/Theater Tech 15/Writer 10/ Slacker 30

I was thinking of possibly a swashbuckler, but I'm always happy to play an arcanist of some sort.

I'm playing an arcanist in another game at the moment, so I think I'll go with a Scout/Ranger Archery Style to fill the role of the Scout we seem to be missing. I'll have him statted up tomorrow and ready to go.

A dedicated arcanist would be good, but we gotta have a pirate, er, I mean swashbuckler!

With FH playing a druid, and me planning a cleric, we're doubling up on divine casters. Still, I think both a druid and a medkit, er I mean cleric, will be useful in this game ... if others disagree I can change to something else.

No, I think doubling up on Cleric and Druid will be VERY useful. I know people say a bard is the best 5th member, but a Druid is right up there. I think there will be ample opportunity for you both to shine.

I was actually seriously considering an Archery Bard, but between the cleric (buffing) and the Beguiler (face) I figured it was not needed. I am very much looking forward to being in a party with two divine casters.

Pending DM review, I think I'm good to go. I liked Pat o' the Ninth Power's format so much I borrowed quite a bit from it (hope you don't mind).

Hmm, as much as I would like to play a swashbuckler, we are pretty heavily in need of a full time arcanist. That'll be me. I know I meant to have a character posted by now, but it will have to wait until morning. But it's only a first level character, so it won't take long to whip up.

Looks Good Bynoc. A full time Spell-Slinger would be cool. I've always been a fan of warlock/warmage/evoker.

as for a bandaid caster(cleric) sounds good also.

btw bynoc I cant see your languages, same as when lyssa posted her character.

Since FH is out till tommorrow night, it looks like he will finish his character last. take your time, no rush, considering we cant even start till tommorrow night. too bad he didnt have his stats already. I could have played him as a DMPC until he returned.

I am ready to protect the natural order!

I haven't totally finished my profile but here is enough to roll with. I will be gone til tomorrow night still but, have at it!
BTW I used the Hide Shirt from the Pathfinder Players guide for my armor, let me know if I need to change it.

How odd, neither could I. Added them in the latter section so they would be visible there at least. Still have the diviner stashed away in case he bites it, lol.

the hide shirt is fine. thanks for the stats

Cool. Leaving for the shore now, be back tomorrow (wednesday) night (late).

Terin likes to stay in predator form most of the time when away from places where human citizens might get nervous at a panther walking the streets, changing to elf mostly just to engage in ranged combat or to cast spells.
That's his MO.

sounds kewl. ok now we wait on just a few people....

Still waiting on(no rush)

Mothman-Cleric
Sean- Spellslinger
Mevers- Scout

Should have it done this arvo.

1 question though, I am planning on going Scout3/Ranger17 (assuming we get to 20), however, if I want to avoid XP penalties, I will need to go with a human. I would rather go with a Whisper Gnome (The small size, darkvision, and 30 foot speed are too good to pass up for a scout). Any chance of dropping the XP penalty?

Ok, I’ve got my character mostly figured out, but I’d like the opinion of my fellow players (and the DM) on something. I’d planned to go straight PHB, but I was flipping through some Dragon back issues last night and came across some variant class features for cleric that replace Turn Undead. Considering taking one of them.

So, the questions, taking them at face vale, trying to leave aside any metagame knowledge we may have of this campaign:

1. Is Turn Undead a good ability? I don’t have much 3.5 cleric experience, but to me it seems a bit hit and miss.

2. Will the expectation of the group be that the cleric should be able to turn undead?

3. Is the ability I’m planning to trade for a good (worthwhile) swap for Turn Undead? I’m planning on taking either Theologian, which gives me a +2 bonus to Knowledge (Religion) checks, and, when my holy symbol is displayed, a +2 bonus to saves to resist divine spells and the spells and spell-like abilities of outsiders; or Wanderer, which gives me Endurance as 1st level bonus feat, and Survival, Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (local), and Speak Languages are treated as class skills. This ability is a good fit for my character concept, only I’m thinking that the extra class skills may be a bit wasted on a class that gets 2 skill points per level.

What do you guys think?

Turn Undead is VERY useful in this first adventure. mmmm ravenous zombie pirates.....

you can drop the penalty with a decent backstory k?

That ONLY applies to him. if you want something, ask me. I can be a nice dude if you feed me a decent backstory....

o and...getting to 20 is easy in this campaign. IMHO, this AP gives almost too much xp...

Yeah, I know, and from what I've heard a lot of groups have found that encounter very tough. But like I said, I'm trying to leave aside the metagame knowledge, and just judge the change on it's merits (or lack thereof).

Ok, the cleric is mainly done, still need to work on description, background, and decide on the variant class feature.

Ballast is done. I hope you don't mind me using a little game knowledge for his background. Are we using the affiliations from the first Savage Tiddings articles? If so, I'll need to add up my affiliation score for the Zelkarune's Horns.

I used the Savage Tide Player's Guide for mine. You should look through it, some interesting feats in there. Looks like we are really shaping up now.

Ok! now we are only waiting on the scout and the mage.

you can have affiliations if you want, but I dont like them much. Its more of a flavor thing anyway.

Wow! I just got my 19 issues and my Dungeon 150! The final adventure(should we make it that far) will be a thrill to DM.

Pretty Balanced Party:

Melee Tanks:
Bynoc(Half-Orc) Barbarian
Ballast(Warforged) Fighter

Sneaky Ranged Guys:
unnamed(at least not yet)(Whisper Gnome)Scout*

Divine Casters:
Eldin Farstrider (Half Elf) Cleric
Terin Talonshift (Wood Elf) Druid

Arcane Glass-Cannons:
unnamed (at least not yet)(No current race)(no current class)*

*No stats submitted yet.

Sorry I haven't posted a character yet! I got laid low by a nasty 24 hour stomach virus.

I will finish my character and post it presently....

Y'know, it never occurred to me to look for such a thing. Downloading now . . .

sounds good sean.

just wondering what class is your character sean(I know it isnt done yet)? Wizard? Sorceror? Warmage? Warlock? Pun-Pun?

I've been kind of debating just what kind of character to make.

I'm thinking either sorceror or warlock. With a side of Alchemist. Named Anders Delymbir.

Go warlock. they are fun.

Warlocks are also prime candidates for Malcanthet's Naughty gift, being so demonic and whatnot. Im saying too much....

I return! I shall update my PC profile a bit later with full gold expenditures. I need to add some scrolls and change around my spell selections a bit.

Just a reminder and a plea: I may be the only one here not familiar with the AP, but there is one of me, and I like surprises!

Thanks.

Human warlock it is then.

Oh yeah, my character background may include some (minor) spoilers from the Shackled City AP - will that be a problem with anyone?

Also, I was thinking of gearing up towards an affiliation with the Dawn Council, but if you're not really using affiliations I may not go with it...

no problem with the shackled city stuff.

sean, when will the warlock stats be ready?

and is mevers online?

seems like he will be last one done, which constitutes a booby prize.

Character should be up within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

trying to beat out mevers so you dont come last, eh? hehe...

sounds good.

Right. Anders Delymbir reporting for duty.

I'll flesh him out more over the next couple of days.

looks good.

ok just waitin on mevers.

Updated equipment and some skill bonuses that I hadn't figured in.

Do we get a bonus feat if we are from a certain district of Sasserine, like in the Savage Tide Players' Guide?

Sorry, but the wait is nearly over. As you can see, I am ready to go, just need to finalise a couple of details (mainly equipment), and background, and I should get that done this arvo. Thanks for your patience.

Are they bonus feats? I thought they were just "regional" feats, ie, you need to "pay" for them as per normal feats, but can only take them if you're from that region? Could be wrong.
