I can multiclass into Rogue or Scout. Fits Tyndal's concept fine, but I would have rather done it at first level (Skill points out the wazoo)
Yeah, that was my thought too, what a waste not to do Rogue at 1st level....
Maybe Beeler will let us retcon a character to have rogue as 1st level....Should we wait to see this NPC coming up? Most have been pretty whacked out and untrustworthy. I would hate to hire a Rogue that ends up being a liability.

Eat me (that's not a declaration, that's an Alice in Wonderland reference). I like being cryptic.
What about Queer Little Man?
I was thinking the kobold cook, provided things don't go too badly with her. QLM is definitely interested in the party's welfare though. Well, everyone except Tyndal's.

Red pill or blue?
QLM's addled in the brain pan, but I kinda like him - and I think he wants to hang out. MAybe we should offer him the job? (Considering we don't know about the kobold yet...)
I was planning on picking up 1 max 2 levels of ranger at some point, I think it fits my concept of a wandering cleric of Fharlanghn, and I wanted a skill point boost. I'm not that familiar with the scout class, but if that has open locks I could take that and put some ranks into it - dex and int are decent, though not exceptional.

I would prefer to stay fighter. I don't have a problem with a npc trapspringer myself. What about Queer Little Man?
You could always go the Corvin Killgannon route, and have both. That is, be a fighter and spring traps by walking into them, relying on your armor to soak up the damage. Yay!

I'm sorry guys, once we get back to town, I'm going to have to drop out. I really just don't have the time to play, but more telling is the fact that Harven is not much more than a pile of numbers to me, hence the lack of roleplaying posts.
It's a shame to have to drop out, as this looks like a ball, but that will probably work best.
Thanks for the game, it's been great so far, I'm sure it will continue to be a blast.

mwbeeler |

Sorry to hear it, but I really appreciate you not just leaving it hanging. Life can get crazy like that! If Harven doesn’t have appeal to you, would you rather work in a new second level character you can get behind? If you're certain you are out, I have a great exit for you planned. ;)

Thanks for the offer, but I really just don't have the itme at the moment. It seems whatever spare time I do have and could use for DnD is taken up with planning for my runelords campaign. So I'll have to bow out.
Anyway, given what you have cooked up so far, I'm more than a little curious to see this great exit you have planned. I'm more than happy for Harven to go down in a blaze of glory (or with a quiet whimper, whatever works).

mwbeeler |

Would I have bumped into one of these guys in Sharn per chance?
Ah well ... can't say he didn't warn us ... lots of times.
You are correct, sir! Great, now you'll be smacking down the random rambling homeless people looking for giant roaches. That'll get you talked about.

You know, I’m still surprised no one tried to eat the mushrooms.
1st mushroom: -1 highest stat, +1 each to the two lowest stats. It’s how the otyugh became atrophied but super intelligent.
2nd mushroom - I was going to let you change whatever you didn’t like about your characters.

Ardan |

I've been following the game, and I'd be interested in joining as a roguish type after poor Harven's untimely demise if you're considering replacements and can work me in... I have read the AP, but I think I can keep player knowledge separate, especially if you (DM) continue to make your own changes to the path as written. I can most likely post a few times per day although I do work second shift so they may be at odd times - Let me know if you're interested.

Hmmm, i figured they would bump intelligence at the cost of ... something. maybe wisdom and or strength. Oh well, that first mushroom would have been detriment with no real gain for me.

Treasure division and distribution....
I suggest a division of treasure using one extra share as "Party Funds" to buy things like CLW wands and things that will benefit the whole party.
If someone wishes to keep an item of treasure found they can pay what it would sell for back into party treasure to be divided up.
Eventually the 'Party Funds' should be sufficient to help with raising any deceased party members, help out with restorations, curing diseases, etc.
This is my suggestion for distribution of wealth....
How many are we anyway?

So we are 5, if we divide the treasure into 6 portions with one designated as the party fund, we should be good to go.

What do you think about recruiting another person to join, Beeler?
I know we have a nice offer here from Arden but didn't we have a few people waiting to join early on? It might be more fair to go back and figure out who didn't make the cut and see if they want a shot.I am open to the idea of a replacement player but I leave the decision to you, especially since you may want to reduce the number somewhat.

I'm amenable to it, if you'd rather have a player than an NPC. I thought there was too, but looking back, I can't see anyone now but the original crew.

I was thinking the exact opposite (that is was up to you all), so maybe we'll meet somewhere in the middle. :P

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

I'm amenable either way, and fine with Fakey's proposed division of treasure.

I think we need a sneak of some sort, and in my opinion a PC is probably both more useful to the group, and easier on the DM than an NPC.
Between Lerod, Penkus and the exploding mad man, I'm not sure how much we would trust someone wanting to join the group though...
Six way treasure division is good with me.

Treasure:
Cash Money:
1001 gp (166gp per share)
1540 sp (265sp per share)
7500 cp (1250cp per share)
(possible) Valuables:
2 bags worth of assorted gemstones (to be appraised)
small jade coffer (to be appraised)
sewer-soiled masterwork(?) studded leather armour (worth 175gp full cost if masterwork – and cleaned)
Small pin - comedy/tragedy mask (to be appraised)
masterwork cold iron dagger – currently in Terin’s possession (worth 604gp full cost)
tiny silver figurine of a knight on horseback (initials LV on base) – currently in Tyndal’s possession.
Small, oiled leather pouch with silver clasp (may have some value – to be appraised)
Magic:
wand (from treasure chest)
earth elemental gem (currently in Seann’s possession)
Penkus’ left eye (currently in Terin’s head)
magical (?) diamond earring – currently in Tyndal’s possession
magic ring (worn by Harven)
Miscellaneous Stuff:
12 velvet bags
Illegible map on human-skin parchment (we should try to have this restored)
6 tallow candles
2 vials of grease paint (white/black)
two 25 foot coils of hemp rope
a half full wineskin
a rusty tableknife
3 soggy torches
Eldin proposes that we clean up the figurine and show it to Lavinia – it may be hers (in which case we give it back to her). I think Harven’s magical ring may have been given to him by Kora – if this is the case, I propose we give it back to her.

Terin will pay the 302gp out of his portion of treasure(once we figure out what that is) to pay for the dagger.
I also vote to let Arden join up as a specialist hired by Lavinia to help us with trappy locky stuff.

No objection to either of those suggestions.
I included Penkus' eye in the treasure list, but I don't know that it's really fair to make Terin "pay" for that - particularly if it has any major drawbacks - what does the rest of the group think?
Should Identify spells be paid for out of the sixth share, or by the person who wants the item? (I vote for the group share)
Mike, do we need to pay anything to get non-magical treasures appraised?

Wand? What wand? There was a wand?
Indeed. From one of those chests in the last room.
EDIT: The Earth Elemental Gem is worth 2250gp (or 1125 to “buy back”). We know how this works, so don’t need to identify it. We probably don’t need to ID Penkus’ eye, and will only need to ID Harven’s ring if we end up keeping it (and/or Kora can’t tell us what it does).
That leaves the wand and the earring to identify (at 100gp each?)

I would suggest selling the Gem. 1 use item worth 1125gp. Yup sell it.
I would suggest that the IDing moneys come from the party treasure before it gets divided, otherwise that will hit the party fund pretty hard in the future. The drawback to the Eye is that I don't got an eye when I finally decide to gouge this thing out. I seem to know all it's functions so we definately don't need to ID it. Hell of a thing to have for a little bit of info...

I'm kind of from the old school style of thinking, where you DO NOT sell magical items ... having said that, as you say it's a one use item, we get to summon a large earth elemental ... and 1125gp is a lot of money - so I'll hesitantly join Fake's vote to sell it. (Would it be fair to assume we can easily find a buyer for it?)
Alright, ID money and similar expenses come out before we divide the funds - so ignore the "per share" break downs I included in the list above for now.

It does have -1 to a stat, I forget which one, and some skill penalties, but it balanaces out.

Not unless it is something particularly exotic, like if you wanted to see if the older coins were worth more or some such.

True, but don't forget Penkus knows the Lotus hideout like the back of his hand...

Constitution. Basically it drains 1 con a day(an eyes gotta eat, right?) but natural healing keeps it down to just -1 con.

mwbeeler |

Let me know what you want me to do about starting level/stats/equipment (assuming I'm in) - Current profile is based on level 1, 32PB, no gear yet.
Able learner from Races of Destiny? Oh great, already you're getting all "Mr. Shiny" on me.
The guys are nearing 3, so if you want to take level 2 with minimum xp + 900 gp worth of gear (and no single item topping 1/3 of that), that ought to work. Assuming everyone is cool, I think I have a decent way to work you in, though you might not be popular!

Ardan |

I think everything's updated, any glaring omissions?

Cute!
Was just giving you a hard time because it set off my min / max alarm. It’s actually one of my favorite feats because I’m a skill-whore. That and I was able to use Shiny’s name as an aphorism. I’d say ToB is out (though I have it, so technically I’m willing to let feats from it through, though probably not the classes, as it would unbalance the power curve in the party). I'll dig Scoundrel' out of the pile and check it out when I wake up.

Yeah, sure, Terin won't mind having a gaping hole in his head......If and when I find a means to regrow Terin's eye I will consider it.
