Thank you Heathansson. In addition to the Stravinsky, this has helped greatly.

Sorry bro', I shall toast to Genova's grandpa at dinner tonight.

It's always on a Friday. Whatever it is, can't possibly wait.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Genova, terribly sorry to hear about your Grandpa.

Charles, listen, everyone gets rejected. For a million different reasons, even if what you're writing is perfectly fine. It doesn't mean anything beyond the fact that someone looked it over and decided it wasn't what they were looking for. It has no reflection on your worth as a human being. Someone (I forgot who) recently said,"Success is a combination of natural talent and 10,000 hours of work." Every author, every artist, every actor, every clown that has ever juggled chainsaws has faced a rejection, probably a ton of rejections. Persistence and attitude are the only things (along with the quality of your work) that you can control. Keep working and hold onto your ego.

1. Putting shingles on a garage roof. On a hilltop. In single-digit temperatures.
2. The fact that both rubber boot soles and tarpaper become extremely slippery when cold.
3. Almost falling off of a garage roof between ten and fifteen times over the span of ten hours.
4. The fact that I might have to go back again to fix some stuff we f!$%ed up.

5. Putting up siding. In the dark. In single-digit temperatures.

6. Having to haul ripped-up pieces of particleboard for three hours. In single-digit temperatures.
7. Having to make a bonfire in single-digit temperatures is good. What sucks is:
8. Inhaling toxic fumes.
9. Inhaling smoke.
10. Almost catching a friend's truck on fire.
11. Almost starting a brush fire.
12. Almost catching yourself on fire.

13. Going home and finding out that other people have royally topped your shitty day, which makes me feel like a total a++@&*@ for posting this.

Minor thing, but it still sucks.

Back in July, the Pathfinder adventure path issues were costing me A$24 each through my subscription. The latest issue that shipped a couple of days ago cost me A$36. Stupid international monetary crisis and weak Australian dollar!

Dark Archive

Yeah, damn financial crisis.

It's good and bad. When the Canadian dollar was killing the US Dollar, my wife's business moved a lot of inventory to international customers (darn customs forms), but little domestically. Now it has flipped again, and the locals here are going back to Canada to party. I've been watching the exchange rates daily and just bought two items off Ebay from Australia and Canada. Not holding my breath on the GBP, but I'm hoping for parity on the Euro, so we can head back to Ireland in 2009.

My mother got ahold of my phone number again. I expected to be fielding the usual nagging and complaints about my weight, my friends, that "horrible demonic D&D influence", and the fact that being an unmarried 26 year old who doesn't live at home somehow makes me a terrible daughter and a horrible person.

Instead I was told my grandma has cancer. Lymphoma. I have no idea if I'll get the chance to see her again.

I am so sorry. My grandmother died of cancer when I was 16 so I understand how hard this can be. You have my deepest condolences.

Is there any way you can get to her in time?

Be strong and take care.

The childrens theatre I work at is being closed at the end of the year. Our program is a part of the city's Recreation and Parks Department so it is subject to the whims of the mayor and city council. The mayor has decided to close the facility down due to a major budget shortfall.

We serve a diverse number of children from all socio-economic backgrounds. Losing this facility means many of them will have no exposure to the performing arts.

In the end, my job security pales in importance to how this impacts the kids. It breaks my heart that many of them will no longer have the refuge of the Davis Programs to fall back on. We were a home away from home for over 2,000 kids.

I wish there was more I could do for them.

Nobody's telling me how long she has. They keep deferring to my mother who keeps weaseling out of telling me anything concrete, saying instead that not talking to them for three months was my choice. I honestly fear my grandmother has already passed and no one has the balls to tell me.

::scowls at board for not allowing an edit:: So I succeeded in getting information from the source: grandma. She's pissed about the doctor screwing up her biopsy so now she can't hold her trashy romance novels steady. Yeah, she's got some time left. Quite a lot of time.

Susan, I am glad to hear that your Grandma will be ok. ~grins~ It sounds like she is a fiesty one!

Well, she still has the cancer. But she's doesn't seem to be affected at all. Aye, she be a feisty one.

~smiles~ Well, I do hope that she gets through the cancer. My mom had breast cancer about a year or so ago, but they caught it in enough time, so she is ok. Make sure that you keep in touch with her.

~GRINS~ As for the fiesty part, I think I can see where you get it from!

Susan. I'm glad you have the time to reconnect with your Grandma. I hate that you have to go through the shit of having you mother hold weird shit over your head. That's worse than having a loved one dying, in my opinion.

You aren't Italian, by any chance, are you? My mother wields guilt like a knife.

That is truly hopeful news. Not the best news, but good news nonetheless. There is still a hard struggle, but at least there is time now.

Yeah, it's been getting better all day. I still can't order fast food but I can talk reasonably loud enough The thing is, though, is that my voice loss-ism came out of no where. Woke up Friday morning with it gone.

Grrr, Thanksgiving. Something always happens.

F*~# Thanksgiving. Every year, I have to sit around with my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and do NOTHING. This Thanksgiving, I managed to alienate everyone by saying that Ronald Reagan escalated the Cold War, and then had to listen to one of my grandpa's unfounded racist rants about why our country is "ruined" because "that black boy" is going to be president. I want to f%!%ing kill someone.

KILL WHITEY!!!! I miss Chris Farley.

I got that same crap in my family. People who are themselves trash deciding to use racism or sexism to make an entire group of peoples into something less than themselves. They say you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family.....I say f+&$ that. I haven't spoken to my scumbag brother in 3 years and cut out my parents for over 2 years at one point, not to mention that I don't speak with or interact with my aunts and uncles anymore due to all the 'fun' jokes about ethnicity. It's funny how trashy people like to demean others based on something as idiotic as skin/sex/religion/sexual preference to make themselves feel better about who they are.

Has anyone mentioned the BCS yet? The BCS.

What is the BCS ?

The Bowl Conference System. It's the group that stabs deserving teams through the heart when it comes time for the college bowl games by letting teams with less then stellar records go to major bowl games while shutting out undefeated teams from making it into the big time.

One thing that I agreed with Obama was that the college game needs an 8 team playoff system. The current BCS system is horrible. Championships are solved on a field, not by a computer. The way my Longhorns got cheated out the Big 12 championship was a joke. Another travesty-an undefeated Boise State will more than likely get shoved out of a major bowl by a two loss Ohio State.

Belatedly realising that Josh may in fact have been hinting that the competition for PFS open calls includes RPGSuperstar finalists such as Clinton Boomer.
What on Golarion is the point of submitting for an Open Call (except for writing practice) against competition like that????

I shall console myself with thoughts regarding pages 84-85 of the hardcover of the 1st edition Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting.

The top 8 from last years RPG Super Star are not alowed to compete in this years. So you should be ok.

My best friend's mother has been best friends with my mother since MY friend and I were in grade school. Over the past couple of months, my friend's mother has been going through a nasty, messy divorce, and has been calling my mother two or three times a day. I don't have a problem with this, though.

What I DO have a problem with is that whenever my mother gets off the phone, she is so pissed at her friend's husband that she unloads her wrath on ME. And I can't even fight back because A, she's my mother, and B, she's a six-foot-one sasquatch of an Amazon woman and could probably feed me my own ass. So I just have to sit there and have her deal on me. The worst part of it is that whenever she deals on me, I deal on everyone else. It's the ultimate lose-lose situation. F#+$ me...

ugh..I've been there before. Reminding my mother that I am NOT her husband(or at the time, anyone's hubby) repeatedly worked for me, as did implying that her rants were giving me a very negative opinion of marriage in general- shut her up, but good.

More family drama on my end:

Alright, my father is decidedly not the ogre I make him out to be on the forums- in fact, he's a pretty decent guy -but he does have his moments. Like today, when he told me that I need to work harder at life. Yeah, it rubbed me the wrong way. A lot. I was holding down two jobs (now one due to the f~~!load of artwork I've been having to crank out), and spend basically all of my time (8 AM to 12 PM) doing WORK. This pissed me off.

However, what pissed me off more was the way I reacted to it. I f*@~ing exploded, listing off shit that I have to do while he sits on his ass in a f!#+ing office all day. I told him how much I busted my ass to get into a good college. I told him how, contrary to popular belief, the time I spend on the computer is not spent jerking off- rather, I spend time putting my art (much of it digital) up for peer review on DeviantArt. I told him how much I f#!#ing hated him for taking me to this f##$ing town and trying to live vicariously through me.

I was a total insensitive prick, but I have f*@$ing had it. My life as of now is akin to whacking myself in the junk with a sledgehammer. Repeatedly. I do not like things. This is not the time to make your problems my problems. And the worst bit of it is that I now feel like a total a!#@@+# for cussing the shit out of an old man.

Why do I dig myself into these holes? I have no idea. All I know is that come August, I am f*!&ing outta here. And once I'm gone, nobody, and I mean NOBODY in this f#*!ing town is ever gonna see my white ass EVER F%#$ING AGAIN.

On the plus side, you know at least one person in Savannah. Granted, that person is a bit... wierd. But still!

Good luck with your family issues. Just remember that they are your family, for better or worse!

In the head or heart my good man???

;P

I just got done working 7 am till 10 pm....that kinda sucked...until I get my paycheck!!!

When you're sick, you shouldn't shave. I take it as a principle that you should look at least as bad as you feel, and if your appearance causes other people to suffer, that is just the price they pay for the more usual basking in your glory when you are not sick.
Feel better soon!
