Nope, I'm a winged monkey.

Maybe we're both descended from Wizard of Oz extras.

Hala Strana - Fielding

Then I started reading Save Me The Waltz by Zelda Fitzgerald and discovered that it has a kind of internal soundtrack. She tracks the changes with cultural references (Chaplin in a yellow polo jacket, all the shop girls look like Marilyn Miller etc.) so I am constantly googling old stuff, including the music.
Right now it's all Vincent Youmans and Paul Whiteman.

Dont know if you guys have seen this. Its kind of old and once you see it...you CANNOT unsee it. Seems to be a bit about 'saying no to premarital sex' then goes into a TOTALLY different headspace. COMPLETELY NSFW

I have a feeling if they ever make another "Heavy Metal" animated movie, this guy is IN!

DyE - Fantasy

...speaking of NSFW...

I want to know this woman, Dasha Malygina.

Stabbing Westward is nice background music for when I'm creating horrible, horrible things (like jungle idols that force-reincarnate humanoid captives into gorilla servants of Anghazan).

First Aid Kit - King of the World

Dropkick is in my town in 7 days and Im going! Itll be my 3rd time seeing them...cant wait. It being on a Tuesday means I cant get s##$faced with em though.

I reallyreally like the new Bowie record. The videos he released for it were mindbenders. PS, GeraintElberion, kudos to that bizarre collection of musics (maybe need Amon Amarths new metal disc or something to balance it). and thanks for The Evens, havent kept up with McKaye lately.

First Aid Kit should open for Jack White. Make that happen, people!

The Fall - Bend Sinister

I don't think I've ever listened to this one before. Yay Interwebz!

I have no idea why there are two songs missing from that album, but here's a video of The Fall doing "Mr. Pharmacist" and the original, I think.

Guess it's time to cue up some Devo: "Bob Casale, Devo founding member, dead at 61"

Some acquaintances of mine, Pitchfork-darlings-of-the-month Perfect Pu*sy, recently shot a music video for their first single, "I," and I got to be in the crowd. Check it out here, and see a bunch of extreme close-ups of the back of my head. Unfortunately, they didn't keep the take of someone throwing me into the drum kit and spraying the drummer with blood.

WPZO-wise, I'm still back around Geraint's hip hop post and Jurassic 5.

In the mean time, videos I picked up on Facebook.

Sivan Perwer--"Mumik" I think.

I always thought that was a Seeds song, purely because I'm a plank and got it confused with Mr Farmer

There was quite a bit of premature squeeing this week when I heard of Zalmoxis by Sfinx, a prog album by a 70s Romanian band named after some ancient thunder god. Premature, since while it's decent, it's not great - not as good as Cantafabulare by Phoenix, anyway. Might have posted that before - don't care.

Also, Gentlemen Very fond of this.

Finally, enjoyed that Electro Harmonix funk record of Drunken_Nomad's a while ago. That's all.

EDIT: No, it isn't. Presenting LES GOTHS!

Pitchfork Rising: Perfect Pussy

Well, she namechecks Caravaggio and William Gibson. [Drools]

I've met her a few times. She's nice, but hella pretentious and kind of insufferable at times. I'm fairly good friends with Ray, the guitar player, who's a pretty chill dude. He's also the guitar player for SSWAMPZZ, and was the drummer for one of my favorite local bands, Gyaos.

Jawbreaker - "Drone"
Jawbreaker - "Basilica"
Bruce Springsteen - "Glory Days"
Koffin Kats - "Choke"
Gojira - "Flying Whales"

Back on the subject of Pitchfork. I really f*@&ing hate Pitchfork. They try to expose people to all of this great music, which, barring the occasional bursts of unlistenable junk, is sort of successful, I guess. But then they spend all this time building up indie artists, slavering after them with a fervor normally reserved for tabloid journalists, singing their praises to the heavens... and once they've pumped them for all possible information, they start dragging their names through the mud. It's disgusting. I've never been able to understand why there has to be so much drama involved in online music journalism.

David Bowie - Quicksand

This song somehow unfolded its magic to me while playing Minecraft o_O

Nimrud - Ritual

Colin Hay - "Waiting For My Real Life To Begin"
Nirvana - "Something In The Way"
Frank Turner - "Recovery"
letters with horns - "heart sunken masses"
The Growlers - "Empty Bones"
