True, but he has shown the ability to instantly transport people (when Lucifer first broke free, he put Sam & Dean on a plane), and resurrect beings (as he did with Castiel after Lucifer and Michael were locked back in the cage).

So the idea of Amara being able to easily wipe out a few mortals (or even whole swaths of Earth) shouldn't be too far fetched.

Unless they're going to go with the idea that Amara can't do anything to Dean without injuring herself because they have some "special bond", which would make Dean the functional equivalent of The Mark of Cain.

Suppose killing Amara can only be accomplished by killing Dean, but that afterward he's able to come back because he killed Death?

No, a Reaper told the boys were told at the end of last season that there would be no more coming back for them; next time they died it would be for keeps. The former Death (the one Dean reaped) was amused by having them come back over and over again, but the new Death doesn't share that view.

I will be extremely unhappy if anyone is able to kill Amara, given that God evidently had to settle for locking the Darkness away. I think the Winchesters should stop looking for a way to kill her and try to find out how she was imprisoned instead.

As far as Sam and Dean abandoning looking for a way to whack Amara and find a way to lock her up again, I'm curious how Sam's flashes will play into that.

Is he seeing how Amara was imprisoned? Or is that maybe where God is? God being an absentee father has been a major theme of the show, and it makes me wonder if he's been in the same kind of box Amara once occupied.

As for Amara's relationship to God, I thought it was a jarring revelation. Mostly because the show has based its mythology pretty strongly off of the Bible and this Dark (Amara)/Light (God) juxtaposition seems to be more in line with some Eastern Religions and Philosophies. It just seemed like a square peg in the show's round hole.

All that said, Jensen Ackles continues to impress me. His scenes with Amara and Crowley were sooooooo good. I'm interested to see how this all resolves and if Dean will ever admit how conflicted he is over Amara.

I'm pretty sure Sam's seeing The Cage, where Michael and Lucifer have been imprisoned. The demons have been saying the cage is rumbling lately, like they're trying to break out.

THEY are trying to break out. Michael AND Lucifer. When Michael went in to make sure Lucifer never escaped again.

My guess is they sensed the Darkness being released and by the end of the season are going to be released so they can help trap her again.

You're making it sound like he went in voluntarily. What happened was that Sam, who was possessed by Lucifer at the time, threw himself in and took Michael (who was possessing Adam) with him.

I don't believe that's correct. Even before Sam was about to leap into the cage while he was possessed, Michael tried to stop him, saying "I have to fight Lucifer. It's my destiny."

With all this talk about the cage and Lucifer stuck in there... there has been ZERO mention of Michael.

Hopefully it's addressed at least... I hate when major plot points are just ignored >.<

So it's been confirmed that Supernatural will not only have a season 12, but a season 13 as well, with Jared and Jensen both signing on for both upcoming seasons. Moreover, "The CW president even admitted that he is an avid fan of the show and will continue to renew the series as long as the lead actors will reprise their roles."

Looking forward to it! (Even if this last week's episode was utterly forgettable.)

So I have to say, after last week's episode being so incredibly mediocre, this week's turned out to be one of the best in recent memory.

The fact that the show openly acknowledged that Chuck was God wasn't exactly a revelation, and the episode smartly didn't treat it like one. Instead, it wisely gave us an expose on God's character - brilliantly self-referential by having God want Metatron to edit his autobiography - and it really did a fantastic job.

The show has established for a while now that God no longer cares about his creations, and they played that one up here for all it was worth. The idea of God being sick of everything, not even in an angry way but simply so thoroughly uncaring, is such a great angle. It's not one that I've really seen before in most productions that portray God. The part where Metatron breaks down and tearfully asks God why he left them all, only for God to flatly reply, "because you disappointed me. You all disappointed me," was pure gold.

This also showed us that the character of Metatron still has a lot of depth to him. This episode made reference to him in every aspect we've seen, from his being a lover of stories to an evil God-wannabe to a pathetic human, and even showed that at his core he still cared about humanity. It was great.

This episode showed very well why I'm still excited for the show so long after people say that it's "peaked," and why I'm looking forward to future seasons.

Nope. Rather, Dean treated God pretty much the way someone would treat a deadbeat dad who suddenly walked back into their life.

Appropriately enough, God said to Dean flat-out, "Don't confuse me with your dad."

I don't know what to think... I'm sure we'll see Mary again and I'm giddy that Rowena finally died. I'm inclined to think that will last at least...

Castiel???? I kind of thought he may go this season. He had a LOT of mysterious disappearances all season, almost like they were proving they could do the show without him... and as much as I loved Cas, I really felt like he'd run his course. He's been around TOOOOOO long (Even just walking amongst mortals) to have that naïve fish-out-of-water act that made him so endearing, and they now had Mary to fill that fun role. They had to either write him differently (which seems to mean bitter and angry) or kill him off heroically (Which I'm not sure actually happened... but it's the thought that counts).

Crowly?!? That was a surprise!! 1) Its hard to see him doing the selfless sacrifice bit... and 2) they just faked out his death 2 episodes ago... Plus that whole 'I'll shut the gates and be the only demon around/give up the throne' really had some potential to it. I had a feeling they were gonna kill Cass and make Crowly a regular team member.

Wow...

Yeah, I'm used to a death or two every season finale... but this was a bloodbath.

Blood bath is being kind. They pretty much killed EVERYONE we met and knew that wasn't Sam and Dean. Well except of course Lucifer (I guess he really IS bullet proof!) and Mary.

Being Supernatural and all... I'm only about 70% sure that he'll stay gone... Cas has died before only to be resurrected. They really all have... After 12 years of this, I just assume I'm being suckered in with fake death...

But again... his story had run it's course... So MAYBE....

Just a rough, from the hip score card of the last 12 years...

Dean has died 7 times, Sam died 5, Cas 3, Mary 2... And I'm sure I've skimmed over a few.

Dean's the big winner so far between Hell hounds, becoming a demon and banished to Purgatory... but nothing really beats Cas' 'A Balloon full of Chunky Soup' destruction from.. Raphael I believe it was. :D

I've already called it... Dean is going to be hitting on Daphne. Velma will get all Swoony-eyed at Sam. Dean may or may not get into a fight with Shaggy over food and/or eat a Scooby snack.

Yep the first time was before we knew it was Raphael that was tethered to Chuck. He went exploding soup.

Second time was when Lucifier blew him to bits.

Third time (we thought!) was when Leviathan had taken over.

This...might make 4.

Dean though, you are right, has been at least 5-7.

Still hope it's a fake out but I am less convinced after seeing him stabbed and killed like some regular angel.
