Can anyone give me any more information on this series of Forgotten realms adventures?

What sort of information were you after?

I read all but one of them, but never got around to playing them. I probably remember a few things, but maybe not specific details.

Dark Archive

I recall that they were pretty good, as far as a mini-campaign goes, and that we had fun playing through them. They are certainly worth picking up, if that is what you are asking.

I second that motion. I DM'd all three scenarios (changing the setting to Greyhawk, so the last one became 'The Eye of Nerull'...) with four 2nd Ed. PCs-an archer-ranger, a wild mage, a fighter and a rogue. The Yuan-Ti, lizardfolk and especially the black dragons were memorable villians, plus I threw in a Dungeon mag Side Trek about Sutholo the lizardman shaman infected with mummy-rot-can't recall the issue number. The PCs befriended and healed him, and he became the archer-ranger's follower. As good as any later FR adventure arc, IMHO.

Gave my issues to the dm who runs the Faerun campaign what i do remember is that the first adventure involved a fort home to a group of female mages who had an astronomy fixation which introduced the Eye of Myrkul it turned out an undead druid was trying to wipe out the place and the head of the order was a 1st edition form of undead something about a floating woman's head that fortunately for us didn't kill everyone who failed a saving throw (as it apparently does under 1st edition), the next part I believe involved a shrine run by priests of helm who were kidnapped to persuade a group of Pcs to go into the mere to find the twin crowns.

Tht group got lost literally so a second group went in, pretty much found the place instantly (by travelling in from the sea) and there my cleric was aged 60 years by the ghost of a long dead black dragon. Got ambsuhed on the way out as the dm decided the PAIR of black dragons had no interest in returning the captives (alive anyway) even though my cleric insisted the first crown would only be handed over in return for one of the captives they claimed to have them as proof of their "word".
The mage fireballed them after we slew one of the dragons and this we elarned later immolted the two captives the dragon actually had in the bag he was carrying.
The remaining priests were left to drown nd were found by a new player character who went into the swamp for another reason alongside some troops though only she survived the battle before meeting with the rest of us after we cleared out a temple of Yu'Anti.
My character had to die to recover from that aging effect and that was after a full year of adventuring to get the money for the cure after being told it would cost 28,000gp because the dm decided the faith didn't care for its priests multiclassing even though an 80 year old cleric in full plate wasn't going to be moving anywhere fast.
Sorry got a little carried away there, hope this helped.

The PCs are hired by a high-level paladin to take missions into a huge swamp. Each adventure had a magical twist in effect covering the area. Several magic "Rings of Myrkul" appeared. These rings became important in the last adventure. Most of the modules would fit in well with the Age of Worms.

The first mission is to root out some smugglers and bandits. The bandits turn out to be Yuan-ti and an army of cloned humans. The Yuan-ti base was suffused with a magical field that caused spells to go haywire very often.

The second mission was much like Encounter at Blackwall Keep. The objective was to wipe out a tribe of lizardmen that had been attacking travelers on a road through the swamp. The PCs have an option to make a truce with the tribe if they will help the tribe get their eggs back from some bad guys.

The third mission is to find a friend of the paladin who hired them. The friend has gone missing in the swamp. The PCs travel to an old keep that is inhabited by a new type of undead.

The fourth mission is to help out a crew building a road to a keep in the swamp. The keep's owner has established a school for magic-users. A great villain is plaguing the school. The owner would like the PCs to kill him.

The series concludes when the PCs find that their patron has been captured by a dragon. The dragon now has a task for the PCs. This is where the Rings of Myrkul come in. The magic effect covering this adventure is very interesting.

Overall the series was fairly good. It was geared for a high-magic campaign. The consequences of failure in the last issue would be significant for the surrounding area.

Not sure if this is what you’re after, but here you are:

#69. “Slave Vats of the Yuan-Ti”, by Jason Kuhl, for 4-6 PCs of levels 3-5 (20 total levels).

#70. “Ssscaly Things”, by Kent Ertman, for 5-7 PCs of levels 3-6 (25 total levels). (This issue also has “Kingdom of the Ghouls”, by Wolfgang Baur)

#71. “Dreadful Vestiges”, by Steve Johnson, for 5-7 PCs of levels 4-7 (30 total levels).

#72. “Mistress of the Mere”, by Paul Culotta, for 5-7 PCs of levels 3-5 (30 total levels).

#73. “Eye of Myrkul”, by Eric Boyd, for 5-7 PCs of levels 6-8 (56 total levels).

These adventures are for 2nd ed AD&D, if you weren’t aware, so you’ll have to do some substantial re-working of creatures and their stats. You’ll probably want to re-tool the adventures to higher-level characters. Overall, they were a good series of adventures.

The more interesting question for me is where to get these Dungeon issues!

I am very interested in this classic FR adventure series and was quite disappointed when I found out that only one of the mentioned issues is still available at Paizo.

So maybe, MAYBE, M-A-Y-B-E there will be finally pdf-versions of these issues available from Paizo??? :-))

Greetings,
Günther
