Lets see...
Alternity, Darkmatter (I GMed a campaign over a year or so - good fun!)
Alternity, StarDrive (only played a few sessions, overshadowed by my friend's sporadic campaign of:
Phase World (Rifts) (pretty crazy campaign we still play once in a blue moon. Over probably 10 sessions over 4 years I dont think we've really gotten anywhere much, but its fun)
Rifts (played a few sessions)
Heroes Unlimited (played a couple of sessions)
Vampire (we play occasionally)
Call of Cthulu (a few sessions years ago - great fun)
Shadowrun (a couple of sessions years ago)
And got into D&D almost twenty years ago via "Advanced Fighting Fantasy" by Steve Jackson

In my troubled youth I've played Vampire: The Masquerade, including the lame LARP version with rock, paper, scissors. It was in a school club, though, and I quit after a few weeks because even I realized how much I already stank of angst and ennui without the game. The tabletop version is kind of okay, though.
I ran a session of Call of Cthulu for some friends recently and it was a great deal of fun. Unfortunately, no one went insane. But I aim to fix that.

I actually ran a short campaign of the Vampire LARP in Milwaukee and used to attend the giganto one they held down at a college campus in Southeastern Wisconsin (whose name currently alludes me). Great fun if you have serious people involved in it. The one at the college routinely had hundreds of people at it, playing Vampires, Werewolves, and others.. lotsa fun.
Of course, playing Rock/Paper/Scissor was still kinda silly, but not overly so. I do enjoy the tabletop game more, but the LARP can be fun.

Oh yeah.. forgot Twillight 2000 and Top Secret (which I kinda miss now and again)

Managing Editor of DragonWow dude, you played A LOT of games.
Makes me think you probably know a thing or two about RPGs ;-)
I do try. My high school and college groups used to try out new games almost monthly for years. That has slowed down a bit now, but every once and while, I still like to play the "new hotness".

Ohh.. I forgot Mutants and Masterminds... great game that. You gotta love any game with a villain called the Atomic Brain

Games Little Nicky Plays:
These are the games I've run (I've played them all too):
D&D 3.5
RIFTS
Ninjas and Superspies
Palladium Fantasy
Beyond the Supernatural
TMNT and Other Strangeness (I LOVE THIS GAME!)
MARVEL superheroes (Ye Olde TSR version)
Heroes Unlimited
Vampire
Werewolf
Mage
Changeling
Exalted
Game of Thrones D20
Call of Cthulu (both Chaosium and D20)
Star Wars (West End Games and D20)
Shadowrun
Twilight 2000
Top Secret (ah, the memories!!!)
Robotech (Palladium)
Gamma World (New and Old)
Games I Have But Haven't Run Yet:
The Mountain Witch
Burning Wheel
Burning Empires
Mortal Coil
Primetime Adventures
Dogs in the Vineyard
Bulldogs!
Sorcerer
Recently my favorites have been:
D&D (of course)
Ninjas and Superspies: Don't stop til ya get enough! And Nick just can't get enough of this game. I love martial arts, and this game does too! You get to pick your moves man! YOU GET TO PICK YOUR MOVES!!! "I roundhouse kick the security guard in the head and then duo-fist strike his buddy in the chest!" GET SOME!
Shadowrun: Eat a bullet, get brain-burnt, or slot off chummer! This game is like a way of life! Frag the mega-corps man! Down with Wal-Mart! I haven't gotten to run this since Gencon and it's all I can think about!!! Can't wait to run it again soon.
Marvel Superheroes: This game is PURE HIGH OCTANE FUN! When done right that is. There are like NO rules to get in the way of the action!!! Space, time, the structual integrity of the surrounding cityscape, all flow like liquid in a well run game of Marvel. My group out here in Hawai'i COMMANDS me to run this often. I get voicemails that say: "Smell the Mar-vel Nick!"
THE GAMES THAT HAVE BROUGHT ME THE MOST FUN IN MY LIFE!!!
Hands down, at the top of the list is TMNT and Other Strangeness. Used to play this after school with Brendan Victorson like every SINGLE day. Ahhhh, the memories.
Shadowrun tops the list for best roleplaying experiences. Some really tense (and often times hilarious) moments and scenes have come from this game.
THE GAME I WANT TO RUN, BUT AM SAVING FOR A REALLY PERFECT TIME:
Goes to Call of Cthulhu! I have like three of the freakiest adventures evar brewing in my mind, but my group out here hates this game...sad. Soon though, soon, Cthulhu will rise again, and madness shall reign supreme!
Ring of Five |
'My personal favorites outside of d20 are...'
Traveller (Played over 110 years of game time with the same two main PCs and three players)
Twilight:2000 (It inspired me to visit Poland-I wound up living three years over there...)
Tunnels and Trolls (Liz Danforth's art endures still in my memory...)
Villians and Vigilantes ('nuff said!)
Cyberpunk 2020 (the 400 Boys rock!)
Battletech (played to marching music...)
Top Secret (Projectile Weapon Value...)
and Call of Cthulhu (The Horror at Red Hook...)

I'll steal Jason's format:
D&D (FR, Planescape, Greyhawk, Game of Thrones d20, and homebrews)**
Vampire**
Mage
Hunter**
Exalted*
Star Wars (WEG)**
Star Trek (Decipher)**
Kobolds Ate My Baby
Men in Black
All Flesh Must Be Eaten
Heroes Unlimited**
Shadowrun**
EDIT: Marvel Super-Heroes Game - both the one with the cards and the one with point allocation
(also, I've played in home-designed games based on Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Wing, Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy VIII - I had a friend who was way into designing systems for the anime that interested him at the moment)
There are many, many more that I own and fully intend to run one day, but have not gotten the chance yet. Those that top that list are Call of Cthulhu, Deadlands, Trinity, Werewolf, Wraith, Changeling, Spycraft, 7th Sea, and Adventure!

Beyond the D&D/AD&D/d20 stuff...
MERP, SpaceMaster, RoleMaster - all very good
The whole spectrum of GURPS - also very good
Shadowrun - fun as hell, but with extensive house rules
Twillight 2000 - great game, again with tons of house rules
Traveller, MegaTraveller - both great games
Palladium, RIFTS, TNMT, Recon - so-so. RIFTS is really bad...
Warhammer - both fantasy roleplay, which has the best modules anywhere, and a heavily adapted hive city gang-wars take on WH40.000
Earthdawn - decent
Runequest - great game! I cried when Avalon Hill went under
The WEG edition of Star Wars - OK
Most of the White Wolf games - not really my thing. Exalted is OK
Call of Chuthulu - fun one-offs
and, of course... Toon!

Lots (dozens of sessions, also DM'd):
Ars Magica
GURPS
RuneQuest
Cyberpunk 2020
Some:
Rolemaster
MERP
Spacemaster
Vampire
Werewolf
ANKH
2300 AD
Little (max couple of sessions):
Twilight 2000
Call of Cthulhu
Mage
Changeling
Harn
And I have made characters to Shadowrun and Marvel Super Heroes but never got around to play.
I probably forgot something from the list...not including couple of homebrew systems with no names. And those are the systems I have played: themes of other games have been present even if the system used were GURPS or whatever.
Valegrim |
hehe your guys list look like mine if I had written one; wow havent thought of twilight 2000 and Top Secret in years; and was 003 in James Bond, wow all these game systems; all the games, i run across my old villians and vigilanties characters and star frontiers and whatnot every now and again. List threads like this is always a walk down memory lane for me; each game name makes me think of my characters in that game.
Wow someone had Harn on their list; I have all the Harn stuff; If I decide to end my game that I run using judges guild maps; I was gonna use the maps from Harn as I am the only one I know that has them; they are rich and coloful and full of stuff my players have never seen.
looking at all your lists there are only 5 that I have not played, I guess they are new like men in black and kobolds ate my baby, though I know call of cuthulu is old and been sitting around nobody in my group wants to play it so we never did though some of the other have played it.
A lot of us played Marvel but used the Champions rules and game system as we thought marvels rules and power ideas were terrible.
I am playing Papers and Paychecks right now; oh; hmm; real life :) kudos if you get the reference.
Played a few horror games that arent on anybodies lists yet; am wondering if they will pop up; dont remember the name, but we all played horror monsters and stuff; will have to go home and check.

Yeah, Harn's world seemed fascinating and would have been interesting to see more of it...after couple of sessions my new character decided that adventuring life is not for her after all (system of Harn is rather...grim) and somehow I never got around to make a new character (and there aren't that many DM who run Harn either).

You had a much different experience than I did. This was in a highschool club for gaming when I was a freshman/sophomore. The juniors and seniors got super powerful cheesed out characters, while we had PCs by the book. I was basically ignored for the most part except by maybe one Storyteller that was pretty cool. And there wasn't even really a story going on. Fortunately, this did give me the necessary kick in the pants to say that I could do better and then start my own game group.
I’ve Got Reach |
In order of exposure:
Twilight 2000: Played, then GMd. My first game. I currently own every module and accessory through 1991.
Powers & Perils: GMd. We played 2nd Ed. D&D and Oriental Adventures concurrently and I am confident in saying that Powers & Perils was a better system by far. In fact, there are some aspects of this system that are superior to D&D 3.5, depending on game tone.
OA and D&D 2nd Ed: Player only. It was okay - nothing really memorable.
TSRs Marvel Superheroes: Player and Judge. The game is okay, but we had a lot of fun. There are probably more memories from this game than any other game I have played.
Now I'll just list the other games I played or ran that I don't care to elaborate on:
Vampire/Werewolf/Mage etc.
Battle Tech / Mechwarrior
Ghostbusters (Yes, like the movie)
Paranoia (First version; now I have the new "Stuff")
Transformers (Awesome homebrew game that inspired me to make my own Marvel Superhero home brew game)
Star Wars (WEG and d20, and I cant stand the d20 version at any level. But I have preordered the 2007 release...)
Boot Hill (Really fun!)
James Bond (Victory Games I think....It was a blast!)
I think that covers it.....

Played and would like to play again:
Call of Cthulhu (my favorite RPG ever, Chaosium, not d20 -- WotC really lost the flavor of the setting)
Traveller (mainly MegaTraveller)
Enjoyed but likely won't return
Vampire (& Werewolf/Mage/Mummy; lost me after they revamped the setting -- no pun intended)
MERP (Rolemaster)
Ringworld (anyone remember?)
2300AD (beautiful setting)
Played long ago, and often wish I hadn't
Star Wars (WEG, I love d20)
FASA Star Trek
Gamma World
Twilight: 2000
others too crappy to recall :)
Tatterdemalion |
I prefered the LUG Star trek- ever give that a whirl?
Sadly, I lost interest in Star Trek RPing by the time the LUG rules came out. I did pick up a couple of books, more as Star Trek paraphernalia, and I thought they looked rather good. Unfortunately, I've also grown leery of novel, new rule systems -- maybe I'm just old :/
WEG put out D6 Space. If you liked SW, you woudl love that book. A great sci fi system.
I like d20 SW, but WEG is one of the main reasons I shy away from alternate game systems; I still get the heebie-jeebies thinking about those rules.

If you still need a group after the move, I've always wanted to get in on this game. You couldn't really get too perverse insofar as I'm concerned. Right to the edge of reason, baby!
Rune Scryber |
D&D - started as a player in 1978 (6th grade) w/the blue box, fond memories of 1e against the giants and the drow. Player and GM.
Gamma World - long time ago, player only.
Warhammer Fantasy RPG - great game, GM only.
Rifts - player only. Had a great time, due to the gaming group I think more than the actual game.
Fading Suns - great game, GM only.
In Nomine - actually I've never played, thought I'd mentioned it since I used to illustrate for it. My claim to fame is the cover of Liber Servitorum.
I've played a few others as one offs and own quite a few books I've read and not played. After reading the forums, the game I'd like to play and haven't is Shadowrun (I've eyed it over the years but never picked it up).
Lee Hanna |
Ha! I haven't seen Space:1889 on anyone's list (could be my rotten eyesight, though). I own everything printed for that. I've been a big fan of most of GDW's stuff, especially Twilight:2000 (also own everything) and 2300AD. Twilight was my first real /campaign/ as a GM, and it was my senior year of high school, so it will always have a special place in my heart. I still wish I could make a Poland trip someday.
I've also played/run Traveller, d6 Star Wars, Top Secret (own all, but none of -/SI), Star Frontiers, FASA Star Trek, Rolemaster, Battletech, and some GURPS, plus, of course, D&D-- Basic through 3.5. Oh, can't forget Paranoia!
Thoth-Amon the Mindflayerian |

Hack Master (Nice change of pace~havent played in a while)
Top Secret (Ahh, the memories)

Star Frontiers (Ahh, the memories)
Traveller (Ahh, the memories)
Gamma World (Old Edition~like to get a new campaign started)
Tunnels & Trolls (Old Edition)
WFRP (Currently running a campaign)
This winter(2008) Warhammer RPG is coming out with a 40,000 version RPG. Cant wait to test play this as well as Serenity in the near future. Already got a few players lined up for a test play.
