Hello, and glad to be here! My profile is almost entirely complete, I just need to buy armor.
Player Name: Crunch
Character Name: Kazikli
Character Number: 150618-2006
Level: 2
Slotted Faction: Verdant Wheel
Downtime: Performance: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Trigger: You would fail (but don’t critically fail) a Reflex save to avoid a trap’s effects
Effect: You Step and then Drop Prone in your new location. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to your triggering Reflex save. If this would have been enough to resist the trap’s effects initially, you succeed at the save instead.
▫ ▫ ▫ One-Who-Waits Your trials in the burgeoning monastery of Unforgiving Fire have given you an edge in overcoming physical challenges. Whenever you roll a critical failure on an Acrobatics or Athletics check, you can check a box next to this boon as a free action to get a failure instead (the GM can tell you if this wouldn’t change the outcome of the check so you do not waste this ability).
▫ ▫ ▫ Traveler of the Spirit Road You have traveled the pathways near the Forest of Spirits and not only managed to avoid losing your way, but even befriended some of the local kami. The kami’s blessing follows you now and protects you from bad luck. Whenever you would critically fail a check to Hide, Sneak, Sense Direction, or Track while in a forested area, you may check a box next to this boon as a free action to treat that check as a failure instead.

Player: pjrogers
Character: Bubba Payne
PFS: 226993-2002
Level: 1
Faction: Horizon Hunters
Earn Income (12 days due to Field Commission): Performance for 8 days: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Performance for 4 days: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
No boons to slot.
I went back and forth on which character to bring - Bubba here or my 3rd level monk. What sealed the deal was
(1) seeing Emdi who Bubba just adventured with (I imagine they stagger in together, both very hung over).
(2) and also seeing Silberg as one of the players, who as a GM ran Siege of the Diamond City for Bubba's big half-sister Candi.

Ah... FYI - I've played Heyou! a couple of times (a quest and a scenario) but I don't think that changes anything

Putting a note for myself that we're playing low tier with 6 player adjustment and a level bump.
Should we be applying this level bump to our PCs? I'm still getting the hang of 2e so I'm not totally clear on all of its elements

No, the level bump is to the adventure. Basically every PFS2 adventure is balanced for 4 people of the lowest level of the subtier (so 4 level 1s in the 1-2 and 4 level 3s in the 3-4). If there are more than that or they're higher level, then I make adjustments accordingly.

But every once in a while, I like to pull out my harmonica, play a few chords, and see if anyone joins in my makeshift improv quartet that is ...
... MEANWHILE.

Teja, why aren't you feinting against the birds?
Wouldn't that give you your sneak attack?
Kazikli

We start with 1.
On that note, GM, I'm sorry, but I forgot to mention I'm a 1-glyph GM. (When playing, I get to distribute a number of extra hero points equal to my glyphs to other players.) If it's not too late for you, I'll give the extra point to Emdi. If not, that's okay, it was on me.

Just checking on something... I thought that this scenario was supposed to have scaling built in... not using the Guide versions. I seem to remember this was supposed to have the newer mechanics.
If so, then the scenario should not be getting a level bump.

You are absolutely correct about that Heyou. I've not been especially active in PFS this season until recently, so I misunderstood that. That did make your last fights slightly harder (I believe one hit that should have been a crit, and one miss that should have been a hit), so as my apology I'm awarding every PC a hero point.

I was poking around and I found a build guide to the champion. I started reading it and I laugh-cried because it's very clear the author didn't like ranged champions.
I looked at the author - "FedoraFerret." Wait, that name sounds familiar ... isn't that ... Emdi's current GM? LOL
Noyce.
Truth be told, I agree with you. But whatever, Emdi was created in my mind before the CRB came out and he's gonna be an archer from Nidal, dammit, even if he kind of sucks at the one thing his class was designed for.

Maybe consider a ranger dedication archetype, which might help some?
And play what you want. Every character doesn’t have to be optimized.

Hear! Hear! Bubba is trying to be a skald-like melee bard, which is probably suboptimum in PF2e.
Kazikli

The melee sorcerer hears your pain! I always knew it wouldn't be great after low levels, champion dedication won't pick up quite enough slack.
Heyou! Bumblebrasher
|
Of course, this is coming from someone who is playing a sub-optimal chirurgeon alchemist... in almost every way, bombers are statistically better*. But this made more sense for the character I wanted to play.
* including not having to do splash to anyone but your target, and getting more books per reagent.
Emdi Emmay
|
Every character doesn’t have to be optimized.
In my case, NONE of my characters are optimized. XD
I have a bomber alchemist, that everyone says sucks (I wouldn't say she sucks, but I definitely understand the sentiment). Stuck at 2d6 damage for the next 8 levels! Yay!
There's Emdi, created backstory-first - the Uskwood showed up in one of my homebrew campaigns and I joked that we should hold a rave there, and then when PF2 allowed NG champions I immediately merged my idea of playing a raver of Shelyn with my idea of playing an archer kicked out of the military. Oh, there's no Divine Ally for archers? Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
Then there's a divine sorcerer, created in response to something someone said to me at a convention when I lamented the fact that the entire party was relying on my 14 CHA to single-handedly pull throuvh every social encounter - "you can create a viable character with all combat skills and no social skills but you can't create a viable character with no combat skills and all social skills." Challenge accepted! Divine sorcerer who wears Fine Clothes as her primary armor.
Heyou! Bumblebrasher

No one really gets much more than 2 dice of damage until much higher levels, so I wouldn't sweat it.
Still, I really like Heyou!, so I won't be changing him except as he organically progresses. Hoping a little that there will be some better options coming for Chirurgeons, but I won't sweat it if there are not.
Will likely be focusing more on getting his craft skill up to expert/master, so that he can heal better, as well as craft better.
Also hoping the debate over the verbiage of treat wounds and how it interacts when other skills are replaced gets cleared up (don't expect it to, though).
Kazikli
|
What's important is that you're having fun with the character. And if tablemates have any problems with that, screw that! have a healthy conversation to convince them optimization isn't mandatory.
Teja Khellekdottir
|
Who cares about optomisation?
Teja is an int optimized rogue with a bard dedication.

Hah. Yeah, I feel you. My guides are written with optimization in mind because that's generally what people are looking for with guides, and a lot of my frustration with ranged champions is just the lack of options despite me and many others shouting from the rooftops during the playtest that they would be nice to have, please. There's nothing wrong with throwing optimization to the wind in the name of character though, I've done that multiple times.

GM Ferret, what are the chances we'll be done by Paizo Con online?
I'd like to plan around Heyou! being available.
That's a little under 2 weeks.
Thank you.

GM, I think when you reported the game early, you did it as 1-03 Escaping the Grave. Does anyone else see this or is it 1-04 over there?
Edit: I'd like to change what I'm doing with my Downtime. I'm going to spend 7 days retraining my Champion Dedication for Magic Warrior Dedication. Seems equally thematic in a different way and I want to try natural attacks with Kazikli. That'll leave me 1 day of Earn Income for 5 copper.

Looks great, thanks!
Emdi invites everyone to an underground rave. "It's gonna be sick! Meet at the docks - we're still looking for a place to hold it, but it'll probably be in the sewers somewhere with good acoustics. Prep dancing lights if you have it. I'll send someone to the docks to lead you to the final location."

Thank you for running, and I am sorry for any snark about this scenario. Certainly not your fault, GM Ferret.
Thank you all for putting up with me!
