Sasserine=Tashluta in the realms?! That’s a surprise!

Isn’t Tashluta a smidgen ‘grim’ compared to how Sasserine is presented in the players guide?

Our group was under the impression that the STAP was going to be more ‘up-beat’ and 'high-fantasy-adventure' than the 'doom & gloom' of AOWAP?

Judging by the character ideas my players have come up with, they appear to feel the same way -as most of them have chosen CG, LG and NG aligned sorts this time and have constructed seemingly optimistic characters with rather cheerful qualities about them.

No paladins as of yet but close enough; our party has some very morally upstanding do-gooders in a slightly 'Saturday-morning-cartoon' hero mould. Hope everything works out ok and they mesh with the STAP well. :)

…Or it could be that we were all subconsciously craving a less hopeless and fatalistic campaign this time after the harrowing horrors of the AOWAP?

Ha! Literally across the straits from where I was contemplating placing it, at the north-eastern corner of Q'barra's main region - i.e., draw a line from Adderport through Haka'torvhak to the coast, and that's the spot I picked. I'm happy to plonk it down on that island, though I might not have it oriented north so as to better isolate it from Lorghalen and the rest of the Principalities.

I don't think of Tashluta as grim. (And I don't think I portrayed it as such in Serpent Kingdoms.)

I think of Tashluta as a romanticized Zanzibar set on the mainland. It's an exotic, spice-trading city-state perched on the coast between the sea and the darkest jungle.

PS We should probably move a discussion of the Realms conversion to a separate thread.

I rather enjoyed the Serpent Kingdom's book, and the current AP is tying into my Forgotten Realms Serpent Kingdom Game, and I think that the city works well, or has so far.

Yes! Guessed right as to where it would be located in eberron.

My two cents on a theory of demogorgon in eberrong: Demogorgon is actually two different rakshasa rajas who were bound together. They have had nearly an eternity bound in captivity, slowly fusing together, taking on each other's aspects. These two beings have had no target but each other for their limitless hate over the milennia.

Since their release from below metrol in Cyre, they have been able to turn their bound hate outwards, and have grown to have nearly identical personalities.

Any updates as to when the conversion notes are gonna be available?

In Eberron, there are a couple of ways I could see Demogorgon being easily adapted:

1) He's an insane Lord of Dust who ended up getting banished to the plane of Kythri, the Churning Chaos, by his fellow LoDs sometime before the others were defeated back on Eberron.

2) He's a demon prince native to Shavarath, the Battleground, much closer to the traditional Demogorgon.

Kythri is probably closer in style to the Abyss, but maybe a little too unstable to serve as a long-term base of operations. Either plane could quite easily feature large bodies of water which a ship could sail onto via a planar portal, perhaps during the plane's coterminous phase or after establishing a manifest zone.

Is there a suggested start date for the campaign? I'm presuming 998 YK, but does it lend itself to being set at any particular time of year?

Any further news on publication date for the conversion notes?
