Savage Tides / AOW

Savage Tide Adventure Path

To be honest I just don't see how Savage Tides could hope to surpass the Age of Worms Adventure Path. AOW had everything a hardcore gamer could ever want. From the return of Dragotha, the cairns of the Wind Dukes to the Hand of Vecna this adventure path was top notch.

Paizo I don’t' envy your task of trying to out do yourself, but if anyone can James and the gang can. Good luck.

I adore AOW also.

On the other hand, I think ST promises a lot of novelty (in terms of plot and settings) that previous major campaigns haven't had. As brilliant as its execution is, AoW is still fairly generic in overall concept.

I'm waiting very anxiously :)

I have had the pleasure of reading James's manuscript for the first adventure. I've also read Nick Logue's and Richard Pett's which are #2 and #3 in the series, respectively, and while I won't provide any spoilers or other info I could get my ass reamed for, I WILL tell you that I CANNOT WAIT TO RUN THIS CAMPAIGN!!!

Will it top AoW or be just as good? Heh. Easily.

Well, that sounds promising. So when exactly do we see the Demogorgon v. Orcus v. Asmodoeous fatal 3 way match? Of course between you and I we both know that it Vecna who is the mastermind behind the plot and when it wraps up he will be the Overlord of the Hells and Prince of Demons. But lets keep that under wraps for right now.

Ha! Steve you think you're being so subtle but you've given everything away. I can tell by the way you typed the message. I know the entire adventure path now. Amazing!

So, does Asmodeus really change sides and become the sovereign deity of cheese? That's a little bizarre, but I guess it works.

Seriously though, can't wait...I'm playing AoW and reading Shackled City (thinking of running it). I think, so far (and I haven't spoiled myself) AoW is much nastier and more convoluted than Shackled City. I still like Shackled, but there's something about Kyuss that just makes me...squirm.

While there are things about Shackled City that I like better than Age of Worms, it is pretty clear that Age of Worms learned many lessons from its predecessor and improved on it. I can only imagine that Savage Tide will continue that trend. I don't think there have been enough adventure paths that they have already stagnated in their methods of creation... quite the opposite.

I have finished my installment of the path, and read James' and a tasty draft of Steve's...

It is so deliciously good. I am actually one of those f~&!ing a$&@#@%s who never used a published adventure in his life, but guess what - I am totally running Savage Tide for my group in Hawai'i. The outlined path is a work of art, definately the most ambitious and insightful adventure design ever. Erik, James and their dark minions (yeah you Jeremy and James) have not only outdone themselves, they have outdone everything we have seen before in D&D or any other game for that matter.

Now I am obviously biased because I am a Pather on this one, but I honestly think Savage Tide will be amazing. It gives players options unlike anything I've ever seen in a published product before.

Now if that is not a serious tease, I don't know what is.

On the downside I hear Rich's installment pretty much sucks monkey balls. But c'mon what did you expect. It's nice of James to put him in the path so the rest of us can look even better by comparison. Good thinking Mr. Jacobs, that's why we all love you. Thanks to you too Rich. You make us shine.

Huzzah!

Is "sucking monkey balls" an insult AND a compliment in Hawai'i, like the way "aloha" is hello AND goodbye? I'm confused.

Forget Pett! What about Vaughn? He hasn't even made an appearance yet. Apparently he's forced a group of monkeys to type up his manuscript for him and is just going to call it in after he's done with all his other projects. Oh, the humanity! ;)

Magic scribemonkeys? As in...new monster for MMV?

Nope. Rich's adventure just sucks monkey balls. ;-)

Dude where is he!? I am getting away with bloody murder! This is great! :-)

Totally. He's too busy writing 4th Edition and every adventure for it for Wizards of the Coast, no doubt. No time to go slumming with the likes of you and me Steve. :-)

Just to let you know, I'm earmarking this thread for resurrection in a few months, when you all start claiming Rich stole his adventure path installment from you...

Wow, I'm surprised Pett's "ribbing radar" hasn't gone off. Of course, he may only have it set for Greg's jabs. So, Nick, while you apparently have a free-fire zone, have at him!

As for Greg's part in the path, all he's bothered to tell me is he's writing the last part (if I remember right). Has he shared any details with me? No. Well, I know someone who's getting a lump of coal for Christmas . . .
