Planetouched Races

Dragon Magazine General Discussion

I like Fey'ri, Genasi, Tieflings, and Aasimar. It would be really cool to get to see some more planetouched races detailed.

Especially if there were something in the article that tied it all to the Realms . . .

That would be great...new planetouched races, or the current ones with alternate abilities based on heritage. Especially if it were tied into FR somehow.

more information about planetouched would be great. Especially Genasi and Tieflings

I'd love to see some more info on the Planetouched races. Whether that be expanding on the current ones or some new ones altogether.

There are also the tanarruk (orc/fiend hybrids).

I'd like to see something about tanarukks to. An Ecology-article would be awesome...
But i don't see the need for even more infos about tieflings. I think there are about five official books with tieflings in there: MM, MoF, Planar Handbook, FRCS. There was a time these guys were nearly everywhere...:)
As one tiefling hasn't much in common with another because of their lack of unique culture there isn't much to write home about...

That's whats cool about planetouched though. You have so many core races that could have various types of planar blood that haven't even been touched yet, you could see a lot of interesting combinations.

Okay, if it would be an article with characters from different races that all share a planetouched-template including backgrounds etc., than i'd love to see this too!

I pitched it to Dragon like twice and they said no. Then the WotC website does a similar thing for half-fiends...

There are several planetouched races in other supplements I'd like to see given a Realms spin...the Maeluth, Shyft, and Wispling from Fiend Folio especially, as well as the Chaond and Zenthyri from MM2.

I would love to see something on Planetouched in general, but if it were tied to the Realms that would be unbelievably cool. My favorite and most-used issue of Dragon was the one with the Para-Genasi (I can't remember the number.)

It will be great see something about the planetouched!
And if this is something about Faerûnian planetouched, I will be a very happy DM!!! :D

I would like to see an article on the Planetouched too. If it was specific for the Realms that would be great too. Especially since our game takes place in the Forgotten Realms near Unther.

I too would like to see more plane-touched races. However I would prefer more of them that ar NOT based on humans. Whether they be some variant of Lizardfolk/Coatl crossbreed to other odd peculiar combinations that could cause a specific result that would breed true. Maybe even something that may further expand on the previous "Infused" article that could go along Inner-planar flavor.

I am currently writing a campaign around planetouched and would love to see more about them. The FF has 4 that could be expanded on and maybe improved. Dragon issues #293&#297 had articles on the Genasi and para-Genasi(?). A lot of untapped potential there.

What would be nice to see would be some templates that could be applied to current FR races. Why should humans be the only planetouched suitable for players. Or at least something a little different, dwarves with earth elemental bloodlines, elves with eladrin traits. Maybe alternate abilities for aasimar/tieflings based on heritage.

A Planetouched article was done a few years back. It was in DRAGON #293

It had the racial stats for:

---CANSIN (those with bloodline of chaotic outsider that's not a slaad, since the Chaond is the one with slaad ancestry)
---AXANI(those with bloodline of lawful, preferably axiomatic, lineage)
---PARAELEMENTAL GENASI (Ice, Magma, Ooze, Smoke)
---QUASIELEMENTAL GENASI (Dust, Steam)

The article did mention the roles these very Planetouched races had in the Forgotten Realms, because I believe it was actually a General Planar/Realms article.

There was another planar issue later on, DRAGON #321, that detailed the Plane of Radiance and had a quasielemental genasi in there called Glimmerfolk.

I'd personally like to see the rest of the quasielemental genasi types (preferably lightning, I remember devising a 2E lightning genasi long ago for a player that wanted one)

New Planetouched!
I have a question though. Shouldn't the Worghest, my favorite of the four, have the goblinoid subtype?
