I just got my Dragon 344 and was very disappointed to find that the glue used to stick the Book-club advertisement to page 66 was so strong that it ripped apart the right-hand section of the page.
I've dealt with these glued-in adverts before and pride myself on getting them out without damaging my magazine, but whatever was used for the latest issue SUCKS for we the subscribers.
PLEAS PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE -NEVER- used this wretched glue again!

CU Amiga magazine had a similar problem when they sticky-taped disks to the cover. By the time they had moved to CDs on the cover, they began to use a flat line of sticky stuff that was soft, and so peeled off safely with no tearing or residue. Presumably it was like glue when applied, but the time you get the magazine it's like slightly sticky rubber.

Actually, my grandfather helped to invent those things. Every time I see one of those cards that falls out when you first open the magazine or the little glued-on inserts, I think of Grandpa Tony. He also worked on the first plastic milk jugs, and when he brought one home, my dad (who was young at the time) said they'd never catch on.
And yeah, that annoyed me that it ripped them.

I'm sorry to hear that so many of you are running into problems with this insert.
I've tested removing these cards from several issues and from what I can determine the tearing of the page seems to happen most often when the card is pulled in a perpendicular motion relative to the spine. When I pulled the card in a parallel motion relative to the spine (either softly and slowly or with plenty of force) it seemed to separate without damaging the page. I've checked with our printer and they have assured me that they used the same glue they normally use when tipping something into the magazine (the booger-glue) and they are experiencing similar results as I did when attempting to remove the card.
I hope this helps :)

Update: The operation was a success! The object was removed without injury to the patient. The glue seemed perhaps a tad stickier than previous occasions, but that could have been my imagination (I was pretty nervous). Commiserations to those who have not had my luck, and good fortune to those yet to try!
