I just seen the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean II. If the new AP can capture as much high seas fantasy flavor as that 3 minutes trailer did then it will be outstanding. I seen a squid headed pirate and a giant tentacles smashing threw a ship, cannibals and all sorts of good stuff.
Looking forward to the new AP.
Yes, had seen that as well. I could not help thinking of a Mind Flayer pirate when I saw it...
I don't know what's gotten into me, I usually hate this "Ninja Vs Pirate" stuff, but it keeps up coming out lately... ;-)

I've been tinkering with Ghostwalk and turning it into a Ghostsails setting, by the time I'm done if the Savage Tide is as swashbuckly as I hope, and my players get through the SCAP then I save myself a lot of time on adventure building.
If not I'll have to search Dungeon's stable of other awesome aquatic adventures.
Something to think on though -
A place with all the charm of Cauldron, but with the adventures sometimes taking the characters on sea-voyages and wilderness adventures. Combining the best of SCAP (The wonderful location), with the best of AoW (World Exploration). Fishfood for thought.
One final thing to consider, is not Redhand a coastal city?

Guys, guys, I've got it.
Imagine a water elemental. No, bigger. No, bigger still! Imagine it's so huge that it's like a tsunami rising over the city with people screaming and running in fear. It approaches too slowly, and soon - not just yet, but soon - it will dump itself onto the city and kill every man, woman and child who couldn't run fast enough.
Now imagine instead of a water elemental, it's a barbarians elemental.

Dude, were you at that rave too? They started a slow motion mosh pit to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Conan was there, but he was just painted to the side of a van by one of Thoth Amon's wicked spells.
Then the 1/2 fiend flumphs came, and ordered everyone onto the hayride. Total composite barbarlemental.

Okay, so I really hope this is a naval/aquatic AP. As someone earlier mentioned, perhaps the PCs get their own ship, preferably early.
Since the last two APs have had poster maps, maybe this will have a poster map of a ship, 5 ft. scale, that will have recurring use throughout the campaign.
Man, that would make my day.

SPOILERS FOR THE NEXT AP:
Over in the Age of Worms section of these forums, a regular poster shared a few tidbits from #135's editorial (which he just received). If you want some teaser-bits before you get your hands on a copy of the mag, go here:

Is it just Me or are APs getting bigger and bigger ?( in scope & in size )
AP 1 - An outsider attempts to open a permanent portal from Carceri to the Prime Material Plane in order to corner the real estate market.
AP 2 - A long-dead necromancer/god wanna-be comes back from the dead and tries to take over the world.
AP 3 - Pirates. And wenches. And kopru. And demons. =)
They are all world-shattering events, but each focusses on a different aspect of D&D. AP 1 was about the locale. AP 2 was about the journey. AP 3 is about ... well... we don't know much yet. =)
I would say that they are all about the same. Adimarchus is Kyuss is Demogorgon. It's all 'save the world, get the loot, die trying.'

Awww. I'm filled with an amazed sadness. We just started an aquatic Ebberon campaign a month or two ago. My PCs have been loving the AoW but I don't know if another soggy campaign will be a good idea. On the plus side I have learned to respect the ridiculous power of the servant horde spell on a ship.

Savage tide will be the first campain i have DM'd in a very long time. the guys i play with(and have done so with since secondary school) have been bugging me to get started so i said i would give the next AP a shot. Imagine my joy to read the James' editorial and discover that it has a nautical setting! my two favourite things combined - gaming and pirates! i grew up on the sid meyer's game and now i get to run one for myself! cant wait for october to get here so that i can get my teeth into it already.

P.S James, are there any plans to release any more info on Savage Tide prior to issue #139... a little something more to whet our insatiable appetites?

We'll doubtless be leaking tidbits here and there on the messageboards. Plus, in our anneversary issue (#137) we're planning on doing a more expansive preview, with concept art.

Two guys are down in Key West for Spring Break. They swing into the "Pirate Bar" to see what it is all about and to get drunk.
Inside everyone is dressed like pirates. The Bartender, the band, the people, everyone. Taking seats at the bar they order the first round.
The man next to them has a peg leg, eye patch, hook hand and a parrot on his shoulder. The works.
After a few drinks one of the guys asks him if he is a real pirate.
"Sure I be." he replies "Been raiding setlements along these waters fer most a me years."
He proceeds to tell them about life on the high seas. Amazed and slightly drunk by now the two decide to ask about his injuries. "So how did you lose the leg?"
"Twas a shark what bit it off near ten year ago."
"How about the hand?"
"Were a sword fight and it got chopped off. Thats why I gots the 'ook you see."
"And the eye patch? How did you lose your eye?"
"Polly here did poop in it."
"What? Getting bird crap in your eye caused you to lose it?"
"Nay I went to wipe it out but it was the first day with the 'ook."

....and it doesn't get any better than that!!! I'm so stoked for this AP, because I loved the "Isle of Dread." Combining an AP with a classic and beloved old module--that is going to kick ass so much!!!

OMG yes! I wasn't implying that this is a /bad/ thing. I'm so stoked that I'm trying to find time to either run this AP as it starts (in addition to the Shackled City AP I'm running and the AoW AP I'm playing) or to find someone in Columbus to run the blasted thing.
I've definitely become a Paizo fanboy. It's so very sad. =)
