Greyhawk City map

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

Living Greyhawk Journal #2 saw a 2'x3' poster map of the City of Greyhawk.

Are there any plans (or hopes) to re-release that map in some form?

Thanks,

Jack

Arrrgh!

You can download copies of the CoG map from LGJ#2 and the unpublished sewers of GH map from Denis Tetreault's site (he was the cartographer) at http://www.melkot.com/locations/cogh/cogh.html

If you are willing to fork over $4 for a download of the 2nd ed. "Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins" off this site, there's a pretty good map of Greyhawk (and one of the surrounding region that shows positions of Diamond Lake, Blackwall Keep, Tenser's Fortress and other relevant sites. The book has many pages of info on the city's politics, points of interest, NPC's, etc.--plenty of info to help you bring the city to life.

Sorry... just saw this today. (And only just discovered the Age of Worms message board today also!) Yup, you can find lower-res versions of my map at the address grodog posted (I'd dearly love to make available a higher-resolution version, but you know....)

Also, Erik never got around to posting the url way back for the "web enhancement" of Maldin's shop described in the AoW Wormfood article a few Dragons ago. It includes a floor plan of the shop's showroom that DMs can use.

You'll also find several other City of Greyhawk locations described (and the number will continue to increase over time). Perhaps I can convince Erik to do a couple as part of our series once the Mighty Abyssal Tome is out of his hair. ::wink wink, nudge nuge::

Keep an eye on my site map page to see what becomes available.

Am I going out of my mind, or is Living Greyhawk Journal #2 really available now?

It doesn't say unavailable anymore, so I ordered myself a copy as well as copies of the three issues.

Edit: My order has shipped. It looks like it really is available!

I downloaded the Adventure Begins, and the City Map is lacking. Looks like parts of the map were not scanned entirely. Anyone else notice this problem?

The CoG map I redrew for LGJ#2 supercedes the Adventure Begins anyways, so if you can't get a hold of a copy of LGJ#2 from Paizo (if indeed it is not a website-error), you can find a low-resolution version of the map with pop-up labels (plus my never published sewers map) on my website at http://melkot.com/locations/cogh/cogh.html

Some of the location numbers have changed (most are the same), but you can find the updated map index at http://melkot.com/locations/cogh/cog-index.html

Oh, it's been confirmed that it's not an error.

It's correct - when we recently acquired a stock of Polyhedron backissues, we also received a handful of Living Greyhawk Journal issues.

What program did you use to create these beautiful maps?

The quick answer, partly hand drawn, partly Photoshop, partly Illustrator. The long answer... check out my "Guide to RPG Map Making" at http://melkot.com/mechanics/map-guide.html and you'll find alot of info on mapping and map-making programs. If you have any questions after that, fire away.

With all those pop up labels, definitly the best map I've ever seen. Thanks Maldin!

Now, if I can just get my ?!#@* computer to download it in a format I can read!

Thanks, Rothandalantearic!

If you look at the bottom of the main City of Greyhawk page (with the labeled maps), you see a section called "Saving these maps". Download the two maps and the zip file (containing the necessary javascript files) linked there and dump them all (unzipped) into the same directory and you should be able to view the pop-up labeled map by double clicking on the accompanying html file.

One pointer... when viewing the files locally, its better to use Netscape or Firefox, because IE hates viewing local files. Let me know if you still have problems after trying that.

If anyone hasn't checked out these maps they absolutely should do so. I don't even care if you're not interested in Greyhawk City, they are just about the best city maps you'll ever find. It's exciting that they are being rediscovered through the AoW.

Great work Maldin.

Cheers
Ian
