We pay five cents per word as a baseline. After several adventures, and after you've prooven you can get us cool adventures without blowing deadlines, this rate goes up. Payment goes out about a month after an issue hits the newsstand.

We have not held one in some months. Making time for one of those meetings is on our list of Things To Do. I'm certain there'll be announcements here on the boards some hours to days after the meeting, wherein contributors discuss rejections and acceptances.
But as of yet, nothing.

General information for everyone's benefit:
99% of the time, we get the emails people send us (queries or not). 99.995% of the time, we don't inform you of that fact directly.
The only time to ever worry that we didn't receive your query is when we say that we've gone through all our queries and submissions up through a certain date and you didn't actually hear back from us about a query or submission from before that date. THEN you should send follow-up emails. Otherwise, you should assume that we have the email you sent us. Sending us MORE emails asking if we got your earlier email only fills our already burgeoning Inboxes and slows down the machine even further. And believe me when I compare the current state of the machine with glacial molasses at the North Pole in January. :\

So, I sent in two article queries in around late May, and an email in early September told me "they're still under consideration." I haven't heard about them since then...
I don't want to bug them (again) so I wonder if anyone else had been in a situation like this? Should I consider this period of consideration to be a sign of interest?
Guess I'm just eager to get a chance to write an article =).
what i suggest doing is keeping an eye on this thread. usually, within a few hours of someone hearing back, they will post in this thread. generally, a whole lot of people get e-mail replies on the same day or within a few days of each other. if other people are hearing back on something and you're not, then it's definitely time to speak up. :)

Oh.. the submission meeting is far more likely. Right now we are neck deep in the works of China Mieville. Once that is squared away, I hope to start the journey through the submission pile.

Unfortunately, as of late, this has been the norm. Getting the magazine out the door in a timely fashion comes first I am afraid and for some months, that leaves us little time to go through proposals. That said, I am really hoping to carve out some more time very soon.

You might want to read through some of the earlier posts. Eight weeks is nothing. ;D
In fact, despite what might seem like horrible lag times on our end, three to six months is pretty standard for the publishing industry. If you want to be a professional writer, one of the things you rarely hear about is the need for patience. :)
And if patience isn't your strong suit (and I'm certainly with you on that one!), just keep sending in other queries, or try querying Dungeon as well. Sometimes just the act of sending in a query helps alleviate the doldrums of waiting.

Not sure Mike. Got whose disclosure forms are dated 21st of August. One for Nov 1st. Thats perhaps a bit recent. You may well have replied; hotmail has failed me a lot recently.
Given what I've heard back on, November 1st is still pending. I've heard from things sent in in August. I'm not sure if I'm special or not, though. And if I am special, I'm not sure if it's a "rides the short bus to school" sort of special, or "one of Mike's pals" kind of special. :D

It's very possible our darn junk filter keeps snagging your emails and casts them into the ether. :(
The only thing I can think of is trying to send it from another email, but that might be a terrible hassle. :\
