Sailing Stormy Waters to Be Near You!
Kickin' it with Green Ronin!
Watch out for that black flag on the horizon—Green Ronin is sailing into your harbor with a Third Edition gaming classic, ready to be updated and reprinted with their Kickstarter project!
Master and Commander, The Pirates of Penzance, Razor Coast's Port Shaw, Riddleport, Tortuga—that's just a dash of some of the nautical influences that have seeped into some of the Skull & Shackles games around the office. But with a heaping helping of piratical Pathfinder Battles pre-painted minis on the horizon, a lot of us have dusted off one of our favorite pirate ports—Green Ronin's Freeport! With a just a hint of mind-shattering Lovecraftian madness lurking under the surface, Freeport has a lot to love, and now Freeport is returning in all of its glory with their Freeport: The City of Adventure Kickstarter!
The question of course, is what do you get for your hard-earned dubloons? Well, you can get everything from the Player's Guide to a whopping 512 page hardcover of ALL the Freeport material—updated and ready to rock for your Pathfinder Roleplaying Game! How big is a 512 page book? Bigger than the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, and bigger than the Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition Hardcover! That's a whole lotta pirates, cultists, serpentmen, and ancient treasure awaiting, and with rewards like poster maps, miniatures, even a chance to have Chris Pramas, owner of Green Ronin, to run a game for you in-person or online, get on this Kickstarter project and help it leave dry dock and set sail for even more adventures on the high seas! (Did we mention that if the Kickstarter funds, that you'll get a HeroLab data pack with all of the Freeport mechanics—FOR FREE—as part of your backer rewards?)
With over a decade in hobby gaming, Green Ronin has a number of gaming classics in their portfolio. Check out everything from Green Ronin right here at Paizo.com, and catch their gaming classics that are on sale here and here!

Although I am a big Freeport fan I am actually not backing this as I would have preferred it to stay a systemless setting with companion books providing stats for various systems (I personally own the d20/D&D3.5, D&D4e, Pathfinder & Savage Worlds companions along with Mutants & Masterminds' Warriors & Warlocks that includes a Freeport companion for M&M2e).
I would have loved a full colour glossy Freeport setting book though :(
I've yet to participate in one of these, but I really will have to give this one some thought. Love me some Freeport.
It's very cool, Freeport is a good setting. I own the old french versions, and a Pathfinder compatible book like this is great.
But i will support only a french version.

Freeport! One of the best things to come out of the OGL. It's like coming home, except everything either oozes, runs or smells. Ah, Scurvytown, how I've missed you.

Paizo, any chance you can help them on fulfillment. 30$ for non-us orders is brutal for Canada...
A 512 page hardcover is not bigger than the Pathfinder Core Rulebook.
I'd like to support this kickstarter but feel the cost for a hard cover book is just to high. To get a hardcover book you need to back for $100 dollars. You get a fair number of PDF's but most of it is old Freeport product I already own or Fiery Dragon stuff I don't need so the incentive to pay more than the book will cost retail isn't there for me and I imagine that interest isn't there for a number of long term Freeport fans like me who already have every Freeport product.
I really wish there was a $75 level where you just get the new Freeport book in print. At a $100 I'd rather just wait and get it retail for less and if it doesn't fund... well I already have Freeport v1 and v2. I'll be good.
Watch for Monday's update. If you're wavering about spending $100, we've got something just for you.
I'm most likely going to pledge $100, just not yet. I am kind of bummed that by the time I found out about this earlier today, the $200 name a bar in Freeport deal was all filled up.
1 person marked this as a favorite.

So I checked out the new Monday option. At the $80 level for just the book, does that mean you get none of the stretch goals, or the Return to Freeport option.
Thanks,

Now to start ruminating on an awesome name!
The $80 level is just the physical book and the PDF of Freeport: The City of Adventure. If you want the other rewards and the Return to Freeport Adventure series, you want the Freeport Pirate level ($100).
And that makes $30.00 more for the project. :P
