Hmm, not sure I’m on board with this being part of adventure subscription, when it only covers 1 level.
Was looking forward to the sub switching to larger hardcovers.

Is it because the village is newly-founded or you’re just retconning it in because you need a new village? Just so I know how to present it in my world. Maybe it has something to do with First-to-Second Edition metaplot?

It's really not the first time they "newly" describe a town that had never been described before but that have old history in the world. There's nothing to "retcon", cause not all settlements that exist in the world are "known".
For example: Otari was a completely "new" town for us in 2019 when it was introduced. But it has a long history in the setting.

This is 100% correct.
We make up new content for Golarion every time we publish something.

I'm really excited for this new adventure format! I've run through the beginner box probably 5-6 times with various family members on family trips because it feels like a board game. Having alternatives that work the same way, with all the pawns and maps ready, seems like a big win!
I will say that if this does well I hope you branch out to higher levels in future products...a 5th level adventure would be a great level for a lot of players that aren't absolute newbies. The pregens have their first ability score bumps, spellcasters get their 3rd rank spells (fireball, anyone?) and everyone should have their striking runes so they feel a lot more powerful.

I'd love to keep doing adventures in this format. Hopefully this one does well enough in sales and reviews and reception that we'll be encouraged to do so!
That said, since these are so self-contained, I fear that higher level ones will get increasingly tricky since we'd need to include all of the relavant rules for all of the spells and feats that higher level PCs have access to. That's easy enough to do for 1st level, but much beyond that and it starts getting complicated and potentially requiring more content (which would probably drive up the price point or do other weird things to the format). BUT Dawn of the Frogs isn't even off to the printer yet, so that's all down-the-road stuff for Future Paizo to figure out.

Do you anticipate this being a similar play length as other 32 page adventures?
No. It'll be quite a bit shorter to play. A typical 32 page adventure has enough room to cover 2 levels of play, and thus could cover several sessions of gaming.
This one only covers one level of play, with an intent that the three chapters within would each constitute a "game night" of play for about 4 hours or so.

If you like the "board game" feel, I think you could like the upcoming "Pathfinder Quest" board game! They will have some crowdfunding for it in a couple-ish months! :3
(Maybe you already knew about it, so sorry for assuming, but I thought I had to share. :P )

It would be! I'll pass that idea over to their team since they're different from us!

Boxed sets died with TSR. No one after did them like they did them. Glad to see Paizo is trying them out after the hugely awesome Beginner sets.
Free League makes some excellent boxed sets, for multiple RPGs.

It's true. They're really excellent, pretty much across the board. They're also some of my favorite things to collect. I'm excited to have more available for PF and SF now, too.

Just out of curiosity, will this be sanctioned for PFS? This seems just the right amount of silly and creepy, and would be a lot of fun for my game nights in between Seven Dooms of Sandpoint and Gatewalkers. I mean, I'll probably run it whether or not it gets sanctioned, but it'd be nice if I could attach it to a character.

Yes it will! Stay tuned for more updates!

The product page says print edition available now, can we expect to see these start to ship soon? Also, any sort of previews we can get other than the cover art? I want to start 3D printing out some minis to use with this to help enhance the experience.
Subscriber shipping begins this week! We can't provide any previews apart from just the PDF of the actual product unfortunately!

Just a heads up since this confused a friend of mine. The Single File download option is just the PDF of the adventure booklet, while File by Chapter download includes the various pawns, maps, and pregen downloads.

I really like this idea and that it is part of the Standalone Adventure sub. My only suggestion or want maybe would be to include a single premium mini with each Adventure. Either of tha main boss or key enemy.
Also I hope there are multiple level ranges not only 1.

Shouldn't there be 3 poster map PDF files? We have "Poster Map 2.pdf" (for Adventure 2) and "Poster Map 3.pdf" (for Adventure 3). In Adventure 1, the text says:
Unfold the Old Mill map, and place the Ground Floor side face up on the table
So I would expect "Poster Map 1". Is it missing, or is the text at fault here?

For those who have this adventure, anything interesting you've read in it so far? Any interesting creatures or player options in the adventure backmatter?
There's no backmatter to the adventure. All the stat blocks are in the adventure text itself and I don't believe any of the creatures are new. This is very much an adventure targeted at first time PF2 players. That said, I think it very much succeeds at this and I'll probably pull this out next time I want to introduce some friends to PF2.
The only thing I'd describe as new are the quick rules reference handouts. They seem helpful and they haven't streamlined the rules as far as I can tell (aside from only including conditions that might come up in the adventure itself).
