A Starfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st- through 2nd-level characters, playable in 2-3 hours.
Every year, the Starfinder Society learns of thousands of newly discovered planets, planetoids, moons, and other stellar bodies, many of which sustain life. Each location is closely catalogued, with the most promising marked for future study. The frigid moon of Luvoth is one such location.
Known to the Starfinders only as Vast-723-Arctic-Moon, or VAM-723 for short, Luvoth is one of four small moons in orbit around an unexplored gas giant in the Vast. Initial scans of the moon indicate there’s no sapient inhabitants, but there are some artificial structures—an intriguing mystery! Believing VAM-723 could be the perfect jumping off point to explore the local stellar bodies and surrounding system, the Starfinder Society dispatches a team of agents to perform initial surveys of the moon and investigate the structures.

Very flexible adventure as far as run time goes, I could easily see it running around 2:15, as one of the other reviews says, but we managed to run over the 4-hour mark. To make it run longer, I added an NPC to the encounter on the way to the moon. Once on the planet, I added some winter survival skill checks, which ended up being really fun because most of the other players had real-life winter survival experience, so the party was very cautious with exploring and traveling to the site of the final encounter.
I really like the ending of this scenario; it's interesting, and there's a lot to figure out before the final combat, and the ending has a surprising twist that makes the PC's actions feel very impactful.
I might have gone a little too easy in the combats, but a lot of that was that I rolled 3 nat 1s. But even so, the encounters themselves have interesting setups, so they were still fun.
For those players wishing to play full hard mode, especially at the 1st level, if you make the wrong move and the GM has lucky dice, and you don't, good luck not having a TPK on round 1 or 2. Having said that, I think hard mode vs the right party will be a very fun challenge for both players and GM.
GMed once, and planning another later. A level-1, 5-character party with SFS. we are Japanese play group.
There is good lore, useful information from the lore, and good encounters...
Story is colorful, and so are the environments and atmospheres.
This scenario contains the most delicious parts of SF.
I found one typo, but the SFS regulations and the new difficulty system allow GM to fix it.
We reached a good conclusion. The players seemed very, very satisfied with this scenario, and they praised the writer. I felt the same.
I loved this, and I recommend it.
My GM went easy on us; don't do it! Anyone barathu-prismeni enough to play Starfinder wants hard mode! Give hard mode!
Joking aside, there's enough here for 2.15 hours (a bit more with some interested roleplayers or flourishing GM). I found the ending intriguing - "a presence I hadn't felt since"...Star Trek TOS.
