A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 5th level characters (Tiers: 1-2 and 4-5).
When the Decemvirate sends the PCs to the Viking city of Trollheim in the frigid northern Lands of the Linnorm Kings to deliver a package to an allied scholar there, the Pathfinders soon find themselves unwelcome visitors. Forced to navigate the rugged, isolated city and interact with the standoffish natives, can they deliver their cargo to its target, or will they find themselves exiled from the city... or worse?
This scenario is designed for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but can easily be adapted for use with any world. This scenario is compliant with the Open Game License (OGL) and is suitable for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

Having run this scenario 6 times in the past 3 days, I can safely say this is one of the most balanced scenarios out there. There is great investigation and role playing for players who really enjoy that, as well as challenging combats for players who enjoy that. The last combat is definitely tough, but not an auto-TPK at low-level as long as the GM follows the tactics given in the scenario.
The back story for the scenario is great and really helped me as a GM flesh out the story.
All of my tables at the convention where I ran this had a great time and the coordinator had a lot of positive feedback. Each of my tables was ready to move on to Part II immediately, and were a bit sad that the time at the table had to end, which is really my only criticism I have. The end doesn't have a finite stopping point, so I really would recommend this for convention play when Part II is available at the end of March 2011.
That last encounter at 1-2 tier was a lot harder than one would expect. It just layers way too many effects onto the PCs and just tore us apart.
The preceding encounters weren't hard at all, and then the final one brings a hammer down on everyone's heads.
The rest of the adventure was more enjoyable, as it had a lot of open ended play and roleplaying moments which made things a lot of fun.
I guess I just feel cheated by that last encounter. I'm not a "gamist" player who's looking for super challenging fights, and having a 3rd level character with a bunch of 1st level characters isn't a situation where I'm expecting to get stomped on.
The final encounter didn't have normal arrays for the opponents, they were equivalent or more in point buy to PCs, and they had feat selections that were optimized to grind the party apart.
And with TPK the character is gone, which is too demoralizing to bother to try the class again for awhile, which is a shame because I was really enjoying the character and looking forward to a lot of out-of-the-box solutions to problems.
- One of the flip maps contained within (ruins) has inconsistent grid sizes, so if you are playing on a VTT you won't be able to get the grid to space evenly.
- No map for the city of Trollheim (either in this scenario or in the Paizo collection as a whole, AFAIK).
