![]() So any news on what is going on with this project? Committed $305 bucks to throne of night (and also purchased way of the wicked but) but have never gotten either AP... Just saying cause when you give someone money for something and they kinda disappear I call that stealing. Sorry to sound harsh but I honestly dont know what else to call this... ![]()

There was a blurb in the newer companion book green faiths or something like that. It had a section on dead gods or faith and it specifically mentioned Iomedae taking pity on those that did not or would not abandon the Aroden faith and still grant them spells. Even though they did not worship Iomedae. Not sure if that is what you meant for mechanics or not. If your interested I can find the spot I read it when I get home. ![]()

Keep trying to bait people it won't work. Also not looking for critiques. Was simply supporting the initial commenters post rather than being a killjoy. ![]()
![]() There is two ways I can take you comment. One would be directed at me and my character in which case you can imagine my response. If not consider the lack of it censored to stay true to our forum guidelines. If it is directed more broadly, which I hope it is… It would still be better to keep such comments to yourself. Saying what is good or bad story wise for other folks really defeats the purpose of games like pathfinder. If they are having fun and enjoying their time with friends who are you or anyone else to say to say they are wrong. If you are looking for a pat on the back for your vocab keep trying. Self righteous people like to sit themselves high, but they just have further to fall. ![]()
![]() Remember assimar live longer that humans do. Also consider that prophecy sometime take generations come to fruition. So perhaps my fate was assigned several generations ago and nothing bothering to stop it. Aroden likely had an unknown number of plans in the works before his death, why could my characters birth not be one of those. If you don’t like this idea there are a number of other ways you could have a character from another period; turned to stone, recently resurrected for unknown reasons, or put on statis somehow. Honestly the limits are boundless as this is a fantasy setting. ![]()
![]() Just rolled up a character like this for a campaign we are playing. He is an assimar paladin 2 / synthesis summoner 3 currently. At max level I will be paladin 2 / summoner 18 with the summoner build going full angelic in style/appearance. The paladin rounded out some flavor of minor healing, detect evil and weapon prof’s etc… He acknowledges Iomedae has taken on a majority of Aroden’s followers but still holds true to his faith of Aroden. There is text that shows that Iomedae will still support faithful of Aroden from time to time so even a cleric could still follow Aroden with their powers coming from Iomedae. My story is there was a purpose for me that was left unfulfilled with the death of Aroden and I have been cast to the fates to find my own way. Still wanting to find my original purpose and what happened to Aroden has become my characters mission. ![]()
![]() Was thinking of changing some of the crusaders driven mad to being possessed instead and I was wondering if anyone has went this route. Having this thrown in the mix I think adds to despair the players would find when they reach the surface (some crusaders were already evil, some driven mad and even some broken so bad they were possessed). Story wise this would give me a few cards to play if the group is plowing throw everything to easily (the possessed crusaders might have some additional abilities/HP I could use if needed). Sometimes it is hard to gage how strong a party is the first few games and always like a way to tweak it on the fly but keep to the storyline. ![]()
![]() I have never viewed dragonscale armor of any type as a hide type armor. You are not skinning and using that as the armor it is the scales. The movie Dragonslayer would be my reference for this. If you recall the chick in there collects scales to fashion a shield for the slayer. As to how other dragons would view the use of their scales in armor would likely be varied. Dragonlance is a good example of this as each highlord wore armor of the same dragon type that they rode. Perhaps if you are allied to a dragon this would be a consideration here. Being intelligent beings it would be useful for the dragon to have an ally that was (after enchantments) partially protected from their breath weapon. Also consider evil dragons often stomp out other dragons in their region, even of the same family. Armor might have been fashioned from one of these dragons and the victor might careless about it. Remember many evil dragons are self serving and not about racial pride and good dragons would be more likely to ask how the individual acquired the armor if they were concerned. What I am getting at is there is not realistic one answer to how a dragon would react to someone in this armor. ![]()
![]() Took your survey and glad to help out. My research experience is solely on the clinical side but it might be useful for you. The responses from your first question are inconsistent and would be better if you stayed with a Likert scale. Your question about how much would we pay for a new setting could also use some refinement as you do not ask what format. If I were to buy a PDF I might pay $10, softbound $20 and hardcover $30. So I just gave you the average to keep it a whole number as you asked. Hope you will share your findings and work with us when you are done. ![]()

![]() As time goes on I think we are going to see a big shake up in the gaming industry due to kickstarter. Mainly I think this is due to many people with great ideas being able to find support for their products. Even established companies must operate with in a budget and are not always able to see all their ideas to fruition. This article follows two games from Cool Mini or Not that were extremely successful. True this company is well know and respected, but lessons can still be learned from their approach. Hope this helps some folks out there. http://www.wired.com/design/2012/06/coolminiornot-success-kickstarter/ ![]()

![]() Currently I am prepping to run Kingmaker AP but wanting to personalize it a lot. My goal is to not only expand the AP as it progresses but also leave room to have the campaign potentially carry on through the last module. One thing I plan to do is extend the amount of time it has been since the Rogarvia’s have disappeared to 17 years. My plan here is to insert one of my PC’s as a bastard of the current ruler at the time’s son. The reason this player at the time was not taken/disappeared was he/she was still in the womb. Another change I plan to make was the view the Brevoy family had on the Rogarvia family. While initially I wouldn’t argue that Rogarvia conquering a country with an army and red dragons would offer a healthy amount of fear. I plan to have the descendants evolve into more of a fair/stern leadership in which the people were able to prosper. This I hope will open the door for my players to look north after they stabilize their land and perhaps look to reestablish the Rogarvia family on the throne. So my question is while I have not read any official print on what happened to the Rogarvia family has anyone had any thoughts or done anything in their games with this? Just looking for input to maybe help fill out this idea I had… ![]()

What I think they have said or at least how I have taken this reaching out to the fans as a way to prove to the investors that this is the type of game people want. We so to speak are putting our money where our mouth is. Just to further this point look at Bioware, once this company was king of RPG's and most games they made were awesome to say the least. In comes EA how controls the cash flow and we see products decline. EA from my point of view has never understood what its gamers wanted outside Madden games... Paizo has a solid concept and fan base behind it. I hope this effort shows it investors that they are in tune with their gamers and will let them develope the product we all want to see. ![]()
![]() GentleGiant wrote: What happens if the, admittedly, unlikely situation arises and the project doesn't get funded? Don't think we really have to worry about this being a factor. A better question is they have posted 50k as the amount needed to make a demo, what is the reason to go past that? 100% on board for polishing up a demo and seeing it done with all the bells and whistles. At the rate we are seeing this thing grow I think we will will blow even a polished demo out of the water. So what is the plan than, and I hope you guys have already considered stretch goals :) ![]()
![]() Fully intend to back this project once I discuss it with the wife... Because I have not yet backed this project I cannot comment at kickstarter but will instead do it here. It would be nice to see some of the rewards directed more toward the game. If say an individual were to donate 250-500 bucks they would have a lifetime subscription. Or at the very least a free copy of the game when released or 1-2 years as a subscriber. Just food for thought... ![]()
![]() Gave 100 bucks to give this a crack. I have used maptools and the one thing that I did like over this was the LOS options in maptools. Honestly though maptools is not overly noob friendly and was just downright frustrating in places. As mentioned above there seems to be a number of intergrated features that may make this one of the best options for groups to date. What I really would like to see is paizo consider working with these folks in some way. Maybe have their AP's posted to a closed sight that only those that are subscribers or bought the PDF or something have access too. This way we could access all the maps and handouts and such for our games here. ![]()

Great point but I would also argue cover art of the AP's could do this as well. All in all if these mini's continue to sell out I hope that this line will only continue to grow. If that turns out to be the case we should see most mini's we will need. Being that paizo has grown to be the most respectable gaming company around at this time in my opinion I think that this is likely to happen. On another thought is there any thoughts of giving a better incentive to those of us that subscribe to the cases when they come out? I do realize that the black dragon was nice but I could have bought that on eBay a the case from an online store and still saved 50+ bucks. ![]()
![]() Please dont misunderstand my suggestion as criticism, and yes I do realize that more work is involved in this idea. There was a time when your public requested prepainted miniatures and Paizo was not planning to do so and look where we are now. Perhaps at that time the idea of having this product seemed unrealistic? No one expects you to go from nothing to perfection overnight, but taking these ideas into account in your business plan couldnt hurt. Regarding needing a specific weapon to a specific character in an AP I would not expect this unless this move could be used as another generic miniature. In a perfect world it would be awesome for me to have every miniature armed and looking the exactly the way it is described that is very unrealistic. Recently I reran Council of Thieves and took the time to purchase prepaint and convert/paint to have a mini for nearly all the encourters included ones I added. The added value that my group had for nearly every encounter was very rewarding. To be able to recapture this experince easier for myself and other groups is priceless in my opinion. ![]()

Totally on the same page here with you. But Paizo is not blind sided by the content of AP's even as the author writes it. There is some type of synopsis submited before it is approved to be even written. If the writer intended to write an AP with alot of undead it wouldnt be difficult for Paizo to request a rough break down of what the author intended to have in there. Such as skeletons (armored/unarmored), wraith, shadow and the final boss being a dracolich at the end of AP 6. They could then say ok we know these are some of the intended encounters and we have yet to produce these miniatures. Granted my experince has been limited to independent scupltors and small spin casting. This scale would be a larger endeavor for sure and prove to be more work at the front. But producing a quality AP and then hitting us with some great mini's that go along with that is good for us and good for them. ![]()

I do recall reading that and is one of the main reasons I plan to continue supporting this product. Regarding the difficulty, sure I can understand this to an extent. The AP's must have some lead time before publishing and the general theme should already be understood before they are fully complete correct? So the miniature line that would be out at that time could line up better. Please understand that my line of thinking does not mean that every single creature should be represented for each AP by these mini's. I just think interest could even be better if they were more in tune with the most recent AP (even if this meant the last, current and next). ![]()

There are a number of area that could have made this set much better. Personally I feel the creatures selected were poor. For a first set a better range of common monsters would have been better. Another point I feel needs to be fixed is some of the paint jobs. They are just to light and colorful and really need to be toned down. Worse case give them a wash at least. A final suggestion going back to miniature selection for sets is please line them up with the current and/or next AP. if we are going to buy your AP's we likely will buy the mini's for them too. Overall. For me I feel Paizo is a great company and while this product line needs to improve I wil continue to support it. If however things stay similar to this release I will not. |
