I am interested. Probably put together a CG gray elf arcanist.

Wood has been changed to make him level 1 again. Losing five levels hurt, but he is ready to do some gothic horror.

He could lose the Necronomicon, but it is so cool. +2 planes for 100gp may not be RAW.

I have a wizard who made it through Carrion Crown before the game folded. He has a Necronomicon for flavor (master kit to give +2 to Knowledge Planes). He also has one of the campaign traits no one takes, because it makes good flavor. He is a conjurer wizard.

Would modify to fit any requirements.

Conjurer wizard who would plan on moving to Collegiate Arcanist if things progressed that for.

He is a Lovecraftian type hero, who has dabbled in the wrong magic. Upon learning of the evil world at large, he now has to stop it.

Posting so I can hide

Yes happy 4 of July DM, Thanks for your service!!

I think we say it is inactive.

Wood thinks better of casting. He waits patiently.

Wood shelters behind the paladin after protecting her with magic, and begins to summon some eagles.
=monster summoning I

Wood checks his Necronomicon for a possible picture of the creature.
Kn Planes: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

Wood steps behind Andjela and tap her with his wand when able to act.
Protection from evil 10 rounds

"If I were here, you would be the one I'd target.

The mage answers:
"The Beast was somewhat childlike, but capable of injuring others. I will not allow the Beast to align himself with evil. I do not know if I like a bunch of newcomers challenging every assertion I make about things I witnessed firsthand, especially without any prior knowledge on the subject."

Wood clarifies:
"I suspect the Beast has been duped by his adoptive father. Although found innocent, I think his father has unhealthy influence on this creature with no evil intent. I would like see him under my care, my magic can protect him from evil."

He declares in a flat voice. "No one will be judging the creature, no one will call him the beast in his presence, and no one will treat him as anything less than human. Is that clear?"

Wood looks at the newcomers.
"I think we have this handled. If we can survive trolls and troll dogs, I think we are fine. Plus we need to free the beast."

A somewhat pale, and homely Varisian wizard takes notice of the newcomers.
"We are visiting this castle upon invitation, how about you? If you need to know, our reception for a dinner party has been exceptionally rude. Trolls, troll dogs and now monsters that eat metal."

Sorry, out of town guests in.

I am just hoping for a good tank to back up Rova. Melee paladin was my preference. I could see a melee focused inquisitor.

I am here. I suggest you recruit three more -- divine, skilled, and another martial (preferably paladin). Or Rova and I can get leadership early and bring two cohorts along.

Those are my 2cp

Woods celestial dog appears and flanks with Rova.
att/damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 101d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
He begins to summon another to make sure of the job.

I was here, but the hiatus has me concerned.

A roll call is a good idea.

Wood casts to bring a celestial dog into existence.
MS 1 full round

Wood is concerned about making an explosion and wants to keep Rova's armor working. He fires a precise set of missiles at the rust monster attacking him.
MM: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 3 = 12

I like the Staff of the Magi from old school D&D and still like the Pathfinder version, I think it is an artifact now.

My wizard would probably give you a good price if you found one and didn't want it.

Seeing danger with a major explosion, the white wizard returns to finding a dog of celestial origin.

MS 1

The white wizard grabs bat guano and a ball of flame engulfs the trio as he upgrades the threat.
fball dc 18ref: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 4, 4, 4) = 21

Wood gestures and a celestial dog appears to oppose the insects.
MS1

"Well, I can follow behind, but we can use a rope line for safety."

Wood uses his magic sniffing can trip and follows.

The mage backs up his friends using detect magic to help warn them.

Polo

Wood's next move is using the wand of protection from evil on Gkirkan.

I would think any gkirkhan build should have

Cleaving Finish (Combat)

When you strike down an opponent, you can continue your swing into another target
Prerequisites: Str 13, Cleave, Power Attack.

Benefit: If you make a melee attack, and your target drops to 0 or fewer hit points as a result of your attack, you can make another melee attack using your highest base attack bonus against another opponent within reach. You can make only one extra attack per round with this feat.

Wood is probably going collegiate arcanist

Collegiate Arcanist

Collegiate arcanists are students of the oldest academies of magical learning. A Collegiate arcanist studies and follows ancient traditions of magic and utilizes these secrets to bring decency and integrity to civilization.

Most Collegiate arcanists consider their studies to be a sacred duty and a tradition that spans the ages.

Class Details

Hit Die: d6.

Requirements

To qualify to become a Collegiate arcanist, a character must fulfill all of the following criteria.
•Alignment: Any good.
•Feats: Scholar, Spell Mastery.
•Skills: Spellcraft 5 ranks, Knowledge (arcana) 5 ranks, Knowledge (nature) 5 ranks.
•Spells: Ability to prepare 3rd-level arcane spells.

Class Skills

The Collegiate arcanist's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Diplomacy (Cha), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (all) (Int), Ride (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), and Survival (Wis).

Skill Ranks at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

Wood rushes inside and touches Gkirkan with his wand, which enlarges Gkirkan.

I wanted him to buy the full plate in the Harrowstone town.

Sneak in without announcing ourselves. Rova has his cutter and Vertielle has picked locks.

Wood smiles: "Rova can cut anything, but Gkirkan can gut anything!!"

hp: 1d6 ⇒ 1

"This is a bad man if he puts trolls out here. Let us sneak in if we can open the door. Rova can cut anything with his special weapon."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I like traps triggered by detect magic in my homebrews

One thing the news has taught us, watch the VA closely!!

Being enlarged, Gkirkan may have been able to swing as the doggie approached? Happy memorial day DM -- thx for your service

Wood taps Rova with the wand enlarging him and his weapon.
"This should help."

Wood begins casting. Enlarge person on Gkirkan

His new dog waits to pounce.

Wood feels that the troll will get hammered after hitting Gkirkan.

He fires a splash of acid at the troll.
hit touch range/damage: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 151d3 ⇒ 3

His new celestial dog tries to flank with Gkirkan and hit the troll using smite evil.
dog: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 141d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Wood begins to summon his own dog.
Mon summon 1

"That is a symbol of the Whispering Way!!! I will keep the staff and see if I can figure it out later. Right now, it is beyond me. I think the creatures father is tied up in some bad S*^%"

KN arcana/spellcraft: 2d20 ⇒ (4, 9) = 13

The quartet of fire elementals descend on the remaining troll and leave in a smoking husk.

Lamar is on it.

Superior summoning!

Then improved familiar.

Wood sends the flaming balls of fire after the other troll.
hit/damage: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 181d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
hit/damage: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 291d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
hit/damage: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 131d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
hit/damage: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 241d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Wood sends his four fire elementals after trolls. They have no problem closing on the one not facing Vertiele.
att/damage/burn rounds: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d4 ⇒ 3
att/damage/burn rounds: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 131d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d4 ⇒ 3
att/damage/burn rounds: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d4 ⇒ 2
att/damage/burn rounds: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 181d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d4 ⇒ 4
Wood moves invisibly up to get close.

Double move 60'
