So we are doing something crazy... We are going to kill our way through d&d 3.5 deities and demigods. We are using level 40 characters and I'm having trouble figuring out my damage. I should be dishing out damage equal to the unarmed strike of a level 41 monk (huge size)...everyone has agreed since we are killing gods the raw cap at level 20 is to be ignored... So how much damage is that?

4 arms with double barrel shotguns... So 8 attacks?

Are they at a cumulative -2 as multiattack or -5 as normal?

So only 2 attacks at 10/5?

I'm doing a gestalt game where my munchkin friends actually get to go nuts. One of them wants to do a summoner with a bunch of extra arms, and each arm holds a double barrel shotgun. The summoner specifically says you are limited to the number of attacks given by your eidolon, but is should at least double from the double barrel. He's a lvl 10 summoner synthisist/gunslinger. How many attacks are we looking at and what would his bab actually be?

Astetic strike with improved critical would be great but scimatar isn't a monk weapon. Is there a way around that without multiclassing?

Well if I have the sword inside me, I have improved unarmed strike and monk damage. Agile weapon idea was a brain fart ill admit. But is it better to use the weapon or go unarmed?

I'm thinking a svirfneblin. Luckily stats are the 4d6 method so I should be okay in that department. And would dervish be worth the feet when I could get an agile weapon? Also I would be getting spellstrike twice so would the vmc spellstrike just revert back to a feat?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Have you considered brawler?

And is call spirit a lame ability or am I missing something?

I'm considering a phantom blade with the variant multiclass option for magus, I'm not sure what race would be best or what direction to go to optimise it. Any pointers?

Also I need it to be either a swift or free action

Preferred spell looks like it would work...is there a way to ditch the prereq? Feets are tight

Yeah, its unchained. I just think it would be awesome to use dimensional dervish with spellstrike, and what not

Hey there, I'm running a kensai with 3 lvls in master of many styles and I was thinking about dimensional dervish. So the question now is how do I use dimension door more often without flubbing up my spellstrike? Is it possible or a waste of feats?

I did one simular to this. I did 3 lvls master of many styles and the rest as a kensai. I used ascetic style mixed with panther style while wielding the urumi. I chose not to go blackblade because my gm allowed me to give my urumi the agile enhancement. Loved the character

So even if it was a magical weapon, its a no go.... Sad face

So what if I changed it to 1 min intervals?

Not bad but I want it to work for the magus/monk builds

Well, I want a weapon like the ivy blade from soul calibur, and I think a whip sword should have trip. What do you have in mind for a reflavored urumi?

Totally fine by me. I'm okay with spending that kind of gold on a weapon like this, beck I'm okay with exotic weapon prof req too

I don't see it as any more unbalanced than say a monk robe.... Should i add some kind of enhancement limitations?

I want to make a new weapon for the magus that's also monk friendly. Here's what I have in mind

I call it the temple whip

1d8 18-20x2 slashing
Finesseable, monk, trip

With added spend one ki, or arcane pool to cause the blade to become segmented and held together by a thin chain simular to the urumi. While in this form the weapon is treated as if it has reach.

Changing the blades shape requires a swift action and can only be done 1/round....what will I it take to make this dreamblade a reality

Create and sell undead? Is that a thing? It should be a thing!

Then why does it say

In addition, you ignore the still mind class feature prerequisite for the Monastic Legacy feat

Its misleading

Okay but do they stack?

So what happens to all the bonuses to the unarmed damage? They just stop existing?

Does it actually say that anywhere?

I've read that these feets do not stack, however in the description of ascetic strike it mentions monastic legacy as if they where meant for each other. So do they or do they not stack?....the build is monk3/magus17 btw

Ascetic strike
Your weapon strikes deal more damage than usual.

Prerequisite(s): Ascetic Form; Ascetic Style; Weapon Focus with the chosen weapon; base attack bonus +7 or monk level 7th.

Benefit(s): You can use the unarmed strike damage of a monk 4 levels lower than your character level (minimum 1st) instead of the base damage for the chosen weapon. Ascetic Strike functions in all other ways as the brawler’s close weapon mastery class feature.

In addition, you ignore the still mind class feature prerequisite for the Monastic Legacy feat

Monastic legacy
Prerequisite: Still mind class feature, Improved Unarmed Strike.

Benefit: Add half the levels you have in classes other than monk to your monk level to determine your effective monk level for your base unarmed strike damage. This feat does not make levels in classes other than monk count toward any other monk class features.

Also i plan on investing in monk robes, and they increase my unarmed damage as if I where 5 lvls higher. So what's the small unarmed damage beyond lvl 20?

Well, we are starting at 3 so not that bad

When are you turning into a lich? From the start or is this just a thing you want to have happen?

By lvl 15

I dig that build, however I was going for sword master with just a touch of magic. Just enough to throw my enemies for a loop mid-sword play. Ill keep this in mind if I ever play another magus. This one should be closer to a shiningami from bleach than anything else after

Stats are old school roll 4d6, remove the lowest, my constitution score doesn't matter to me as I plan on being a lich. Oh and I will be a master of many forms first lvl, and then bladebound kensai for the rest of the way. I know my build leaves gaps in spell combat, however I'm not the only party member =)...I've been called a power gamer before and so now I pick 1 job and try to do it well lol

I listed my feets in order I would be taking them, I will have a low dc on my spells that's why I am using the ones that don't offer saves, lvl 16 feet is combat style master and I should be good to go around lvl 13

I'm doing one as a human with first lvl as a master of many forms and the rest in bladebound/kensai I'm using ascetic style combined with panther style, so my sword deals damage as if it where a monks unarmed strike (-4 lvls) in addition the armor issue gets fixed by that lvl of monk as I get to add my wis, dex, and int to my ac. Yes, I have less spells but I only usespells that move me around the field, and touch attacks without saves. I f***ing love this character!

I want to be in the center of the action, no ranged spells, only touch that don't offer saves. Its gotta hit hard and as often as possible... I want to build the guy that you drop in the middle of an army.... Well ill fly to the middle... But ya get The point

Still 2d8 on weapon damage, a weapon that can be used with panther parry with the monk archetype. And I get an even higher ac with my wisdom modifier added to it...thanks again monk lvl

Well, I'm trying to get as many attacks as possible by using panther style, and I was under the impression that I could use the 2 styles together... Wrong, ill admit. So I did a but of tinkering...lol 1 master of many forms, then Kensai magus all the way. Feets (in order taken) combat reflexes, panther style, panther claw, panther parry, weapon focus urumi, ascetic style, craft wondrous item, ascetic form, ascetic strike, improved crit (urumi),extra arcana ×2, combat style master, sacred geometry, and another extra arcana.

Well, to use it in the way I initially intended it would have been a prerequisite so I could use my sword in place of the unarmed strikes mentioned in panther style, but since I can't mesh the styles its not even relavent.

Aha! I missed it! Combat style mastery!... Either way the panther strikes are unarmed

Feat text is missleading, especially when you don't know it requires a swift action to change styles

Sorry but that wasn't in the feet description, and I was using ascetic style to use my weapon in place of an unarmed strike. However if I can only use one style ill stick with ascetic, and ditch panther all together. That frees up three feets so I can get sacred geometry

Okay, so you are telling me that if I use panther style I have to be unarmed and cannot use my weapon to get the monk damage?

Blackblade, and you need ascetic style as a prerequisite of panther style so I have to take it anyways

The feet requirements do not state that you must be a monk, in addition ascetic style is not an actual combat style or at least it does not appear to be by feat description.

Does monastic lineage and ascetic strike stack? I have no monk lvls, and monastic lineage sounds like you need some form of monk damage increase to base off of, so I was gonna take ascetic strike...would that work?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It is a straight dps class. Take a look at eldrich glave, then at heighten spell like ability, and maximise spell like ability.that's an insane amount of damage! Normal blasts can hit once per turn but once you have that setup with cleave you are straight up awesome!

So I'm going with a human for the extra feat. I'm using Kensai for all lvls but lvl 3 so I can have my black blade. And in using ascetic style to get panther style, strike, and parry.then working on getting ascetic strike. My gm has allowed the urumi, as a monk weapon as it is in the fighter monk weapon group. So including improved crit I'm looking at 2d8 (15-20x3) at lvl 20.I also plan on being a lich, but I just wonder if I'm missing something....any pointers?

You could just run off of the blackblade, and customise it for each class
