Trevor showed up at the Great Forest. He was no longer drunk (he threw up the rest of it days ago) but he was still passing out the scrolls with the Common Calendar written on it. He told one of the Elven Druids all about it before he could say no.

"Here it is finally! Take a look!" Trevor put the scroll in front of him and opened it so he could see:

Month, Season, Sign
Farael.... Spring...Fish
Nuah...... Spring...Turtle
Pleiades.. Spring...Toad
Leafar.... Summer...Serpent
Jormungand..Summer...Dragon
Ralos...... Summer...Phoenix
Trevor......Fall... Horse
Hutan.......Fall.....Lion
Dogon...... Fall.....Rat
Valor.......Winter...Wolf
Carlock... Winter...Bear
Nevara......Winter...Raven

Days of the Week
Lights Day (it could also be called Darks Day in evil lands)
Lands Day
Waters Day
Winds Day
Fires Day
Moons Day
Gods Day

Trevor put it into the druid's hands and he walked off deeper into the Great Forest passing out scrolls he duplicated with a spell.

"Aren't you a god?" Alsokar asked. "How about you name a month after yourself?"

"Me? Oh no, I am not worthy. I am just a minor god at best."

"I think you are worthy, considering all that you have done. As far as traveling goes, your name should go to the Horse month. How about it?"

If Trevor was a normal human he would be dead from the amount of alcohol he drank all day and night. However, the Common Calendar was finally finished. The Sun God Ralos was completely unaffected by the 24 Darkfire Vodkas he drank. He flew away to see more of Beriya.

Trevor wrote down the Common Calendar on a single, long scroll and he began to pass it out to everyone he saw. Using a Duplication spell he had all of the copies he needed. He was still drunk, but not too drunk to walk, smile, and pass out scrolls. He completely forgot Alsokar, who was still passed out in the Taurus Tavern.

Trevor, who was very drunk, agreed with Nevara and made the changes. Ralos was busy drinking 12 Darkfire Vodkas, one for each month...

Trevor, quite drunk now, thought it was...

Trevor took one look at Ralos, and he knew what he was. He invited him to sit by him at the, bar, because Alsokar had passed out and he was asleep under the bar.

"Welcome, Sun God! I will name one of the Summer months after you."

"I thank you. I knew you were working on a calendar, because the Sun sees all."

"Would you like a drink?" Trevor asked. "The Darkfire Vodka is very good."

Trevor, quite drunk now, thought it was an excellent idea so he made the change.

"I will definately include Hadesween in there. Probably during the month of Dogon."

He then ordered a Darkfire Vodka.

"I think you are correct, sir!"

Trevor added their names...

"Yes, do it!" Alsokar said. He asked the barkeeper for two more ales. Trevor added Hutan's name....

"There, that was fun. I have never named a month before," Alsokar said laughing...

Alsokar and Trevor were still at the Taurus Tavern in New Primeva drinking Aquarian Ale.

"I have got it! The month of the Dragon. Let us name it after Jormungand He fought with me at the Battle of Lighton. I know he would not mind."

"Now that is a good idea," Trevor said. "More ale!" They drank more ale.

Trevor went to New Primeva and asked to see a cleric of Farael. Since he "died" and went to the Far Realms, his clerics built a temple to him. The Faraelians believe in the attributes of goodness, loyalty, honor, and judgment. Farael know sits in judgment in the Hall of Souls.

Trevor told the high priest, Allabytha, that he was naming the first month of his new Common Calendar after Farael, and she was indifferent.

"Do what you will, Traveler," she said. "Every culture and region in Primeva has their own way of measuring time. Why would they use your calendar?"

"Because it would be for everyone," Trevor said. "I also made names for the days of the week too. I just got back from the beginning of time, and I saw the Creator create the world! Here is what I have come up with based on the days of creation!"

Trevor then told her the following before she could say no:
Lights Day (it could also be called Darks Day in evil lands)
Lands Day
Waters Day
Winds Day
Fires Day
Moons Day
Gods Day

Allabytha then asked him to leave the temple or be thrown out. Trevor walked down the streets of New Primeva looking for a bar or tavern. Maybe she was right and he was wasting his time.

"You are not wasting your time," he heard someone say. Trevor turned around and saw a Primevan male he had not seen before.

"I was just talking with Farael in the Hall of Souls, and I know he would approve of you naming the first month after him," he said.

"Thank you sir, but may I ask your name?"

"Yes, my name is Alsokar, but keep that a secret. I don't think I am very popular here anymore. I was dead, but Farael sent me back to a new, recently dead body. He said I was needed here. I guess I paid the price for my crimes."

"Yes, death typically is the highest price for most crimes," Trevor said.

Trevor eventually woke up in a grassy field outside New Primeva. He remembered everything he has from the Creation of Beriya. He also decided that the months should be named after the gods (and other powerful beings) so he decided that the first month should be named after Farael. He would ask the people of Beriya You regular posters what the names of the other months should be. He had the 7 Days of the Week from the Creator himself. He began to walk to New Primeva to go something to drink and eat.

Trevor made his way to the edge of New Primeva. Once, before it was destroyed by the Destroyer, it was called Primeva. Farael created a race in his image, and they called themselves Primevans. Now, Trevor had to see what happened before Farael fell to Beriya, because the world had all ready been created. Trevor casted a time travel spell, and he felt himself go back to before the beginning....

Everything was absolute black. It was a Void. Then he heard a man's voice say, "LET THERE BE LIGHTS!" The Void was filled with stars! The light was so bright that it burned his eyes. Then the Creator said, "These stars are good. I will name the closet star the Sun. This was a good, first day.

Then the Creator said, "I will make a World to circle the Sun, and I will make other worlds too. However, this world will be my first and I say name it Beriya, which means creation. Beriya will have many Lands, and I will make creatures to live on those Lands. This is enough for today. It was a good, second day."

Then the Creator said,"I will make Waters next to the Lands, and I will fill the Waters with many creatures. Water will flow from the ground and fall from the sky. That is good for today. It was a good, third day."

Then the Creator said, "I will make the Winds above the Lands and the Waters, and I will fill the Winds with many winged creatures. That is enough for the fourth day."

Then the Creator said, "I will make the Fires below the Lands, and I will fill the Fires with many burning creatures. The is good for the fifth day."

Then the Creator said, "I will make the Moons to circle the world, so those that will live on Beriya will be able to mark the passage. One Moon will be Seen, but other will be Unseen. Only when the world is in peril will the Unseen Moon be shown. That is good for the sixth day."

Then the Creator said, "I will make this the last day of creation. Above the world I will make the Heavens, and in it will dwell Gods of Light. They will bring Light to the world, and guide good souls to them. Around the world I shall create the Havens, where Gods of Neutrality can dwell. Below the world I shall create the Hells, where Gods of Darkness can dwell and guide dark souls to them. The Gods can create and bring living beings to live on Beriya, and those beings will pray to them. Now, I must return to my home and rest. This was a good, seventh day."

Then, the Creator turned to Trevor and he saw him in his true form! What he saw shocked him to his soul, and he would have died if the Creator allowed it.

"I hope this answered your questions, Trevor. It also raised new questions for you too. Its time for you to go back." The Creator waved his hands and Trevor was back to the present. Trevor smiled, took a deep breath, and he fainted...

Trevor stopped near New Primeva, where he would complete his quest, and he wrote down some of his thoughts about the Star Signs:

Month and Season
The Fish.....Spring
The Turtle...Spring
The Toad.....Spring
The Phoenix..Summer
The Dragon...Summer
The Serpent..Summer
The Horse....Autumn
The Lion.....Autumn
The Mouse....Autumn
The Ram......Winter
The Bear.....Winter
The Wolf.....Winter

Each culture would probably have different animals; for example, there would probably be a rabbit in there somewhere. However, this was a good start. He was certain others would name the animals he listed. Trevor had seen a Phoniex on Beriya before, but most folks would call it a "Firehawk" or something. Let the arguments come! Now he headed for New Primeva....

Trevor slowly made his way south from the Valley of Nevara, past Lighton, and through Hukara (that was currently occupied by the Drakonites). They pretty much left the surviving Hukarans only, because those strong enough to resist were either dead or in slave pits. He met a young, Human hunter named Ha-Ris, who was just 9, but he was hunting bison alone on a desolate plain. It was nighttime, so Trevor made him a fire and gave him some elven bread to eat.

Ha-Ris was very happy to eat, and he told Trevor about his favorite star signs in the sky.

"Look up there, its the Bison! And over there is the Dragon! I hate dragons, because of the Drakonites, but he's still up there," he said.

Trevor had looked up at the stars before, and he noticed that you could draw lines to connect them into shapes like animals. In other worlds it was called a Zodiac. That was when it struck him! His calendar could be based on those signs! Everyone across Primeva (and the world), both good, neutral and evil, looked up at the stars.

He asked the boy where his parents were, and Ha-Ris said sadly that they were all slain by the Drakonites. Trevor felt a great sadness for the young hunter, so he used a rare Wish type spell, and Ha-Ris was relocated to the city of Lighton, with new parents, brothers, sisters and a nice home. He was sort of bending the rules with that spell, but sometimes Trevor felt rules should be broken.

Trevor began running south now, because he knew what he had to do...

After throwing up the poisoned wine all over his table, Trevor thanked the Dark Elves and left through a slight tear in reality. When it came to traveling, he had many spells. It interested him that in his calendar he had 5weeks per month, and they four, which meant they were experiencing time differently. Interesting. In Beriya everything was different.

His calendar did need names for the seven day week, but they had to be general in nature. Not based on seven deadly sins or virtues. However, everyone could agree that the world was created in seven days or eons before time was created. Trevor needed to find out what happened on Beriya during the Creation. He threw up again...

Ae the Verdant wrote:

It seemed as though ward, guard or any other form of restrictions could remotely stop the Traveler from traveling into the forest without so much as asking permission or politely "knocking on the door". The Archdruids grudgingly accepted him to a cup of tea and a conversation.

Trevor would learn that the elves measured the months and weeks by the shifting of the stars and the leaves upon the tree. Each month is named after the star which shines brightest upon it while each day would be named after an Archdruid. Ae would be the first day within the week and Sha'lorei the second, while Esil'dar would be the third. The names would go on and they informed Trevor that soon Netura shall join them as the seventh day within the week. He would also be explained that the number seven is sacred in Elven cultures and that there are also seven seasons as well as seven months, but twelve weeks. Twelve weeks, because it is considered a lucky number in Elven culture.

The seasons are:

Dalar (The Birth). \. Spring
Alar (The Growth)/
Galar (The Middle) - Summer, also a symbolic meaning that it is hottest at midday, when the sun is in the very middle of the sky.
Nualar (The Tears) \
Ysalar (The Sleep) / the Fall, the tears signifies the many rains throughout the fall while the sleep describes the fall of leaves and the sleeping of the forest.
Doalar (The Cold) \
Desalar (The End) / Winter, both are symbolic in their meaning towards the two stages of winter.

The months are not exactly correspondent to the seasons and a season begins in the middle of the 3rd quarter of a month, for instance. They follow no logic other than how nature and weather shifts. It seems elves have a thing for making things unnecessarily complicated. This may come from the abundance of time they have to deal with through their lives. Though the same can not be said for the Low Elves and their cousins, this system originated from ancient times, when all elves lived as long as the High Elves.

He would also learn that the elves do not use...

Trevor thanked Ae and the Elves for the tea, but he wanted some Elven Wine. He wrote down the information on his scroll, and explained to the Elves that the calendar would probably be very general in nature, because each race/culture had their own calendar. He said that when trade & travel become active in this world, a Common Calendar and Tongue would be needed.

Then he grabbed something to eat without asking and he walked away singing a song about Elven maidens...

Quote:

Once the goblins are done trying to eat him, they consent to explain their measuring system. The trolls measure time in what they call "Acts" and "Recurring Themes". Currently, it is around the eleventh Act—the trolls are having trouble agreeing, particularly as some prefer to measure them in groups of three—and the present Recurring Theme is "independence". According to most of them. They don't seem to agree on much. In fact, two of them are still trying to eat him when the rest start to explain.

The trolls celebrate the arrival of their species on the world. The holiday is known as "Kickstart" and takes place in early winter. On this holiday, they have a great feast. Afterwards, they strap explosives to goblins, kick them around, and try to hit far-off cities and towns. They keep doing this until someone dies, at which point the winner is declared.

Trevor is immortal, but he can be eaten, so he was lucky to get away unharmed. He realizes that he needs to create a generalist calendar that each race and society can fit their own holidays and holy days into. He had no idea when Merlyndas and Hadesween should be celebrated, or even if they are official holidays. However, he did come up with a very simple guide to fit the various dates into. On his scroll, he wrote down the following based on the gray moon Terequie, that turned around the world 12 times. He decided to start his year in Spring, because it felt like a new beginning. It made no sense for him to start the calendar in the middle of winter:

1. First Month, Spring
2. Second Month, Spring
3. Third Month, Spring
4. Fourth Month, Summer
5. Fifth Month, Summer (Solstice)
6. Sixth Month, Summer
7. Seventh Month, Autumn
8. Eighth Month, Autumn
9. Ninth Month, Autumn
10. Tenth Month, Winter
11. Eleventh Month, Winter (Solstice)
12. Twelfth Month, Winter

Trevor noted that the "year" on Beriya was 420 days long, and each "month" was about 35 days long. On his previous world he had seven day weeks (before Dogon destroyed that world) so he figured each month here would have 5 weeks per month.

Of course, Trevor knew that Beriya was constantly changing, so his numbers could be wrong, but the world was more or less stable at this point, at least on the eastern part of Primeva. The other areas of the world remained "undefined".

Trevor was thinking of simply numbering the months, or having a name that meant the same thing as the number. Hmmmmmm....he thought about that as he ran away from the Troll/Goblin hoards....

Trevor did survive being thrown out of the Tavern of the Gods by Pan, because he was still a Quasi-God. He swam out of the Aquarian Ocean, and he spent some time with the Mashileen settlement on the east coast. He learned their language and enjoyed eating raw crabs with them.

He asked them about their calendar, and Trevor learned that they followed the turnings of the grayish moon, 12 times a year, and each month was named after an aquatic creature. For example, this was the Month of the Whale, and next month was the Dolphin and so.

Trevor decided that like the Common Language he created, there should be a Common Calendar. However, it would be extraordinarily difficult to find common names, creatures, and Deities that everyone could relate to.

Trevor was excited. He set out to make it happen and in order to accomplish this task he had to travel around. Perfect!

Trevor was in the Tavern of the Gods in the 10th dimension. The waiter Pan, looking very mischievous, made him his favorite drink Venusian Rum. Here in the tavern no money ever changed hands, because it was pretty meaningless among the gods. However, gods did pay in other ways. He felt a hand on his shoulder and it was the tavern owner Bacchus.

He looked like you would imagine him to be: short, fat, bald, dressed in a white toga. However, he looked very businesslike at the moment. Trevor thought that was what happened when you ran a business.

"Trevor, so happy to see you again," Bacchus said not smiling.

"Well, happy to see you too. What is up?"

"There has been a change on Beriya. Apparently, gods may no longer live there. So you need to make up your own realm for souls."

"What? I have never had to do that before. Why the change?"

"Oh, there is no change. It happens to all of us. You have just been traveling so much that there was no need. Now, you have too."

"Its against my very nature to settle down anywhere. What else can I do?"

"Well, you can do what Hercules and Perseus did. You can chose to stay on your world as a "Quasi-God". That way you can still travel about, but you wouldn't an actual god. You have to decide now before you have that drink."

Trevor looked around and noticed that EVERYONE was looking at him. Next to him was the very large, armored god Gorum, from Golarion, and he didn't look very pleased.

"All right, I will leave. I guess I am not a real god after all. Being a traveling god will do," Trevor said.

"You have made your choice and I respect that," Bacchus said. "But now you have to leave my tavern. Pan, will you escort Mr. Trevor out."

"With pleasure boss!" Pan said.

Before Trevor could say "no" Pan literally threw him out of the Tavern of the Gods, and he fell through 10 dimensions until he crashed into Beriya's Aquarian Ocean...

Far away through the 10th dimension the Gods meet in the idea of a tavern. The Wormlord mentions to whatever beings are not avoiding him,"Remove an Archdruid from the world? I created the souls of my wormpeople and the ones who became Druids are lost to me forever. You can kill their bodies but they reincarnate immediately. That's just an amusing joke you tell mortals." The Wormlord laughed in a manner best left unimagined.

Meanwhile, back at the world, Some of the wormpeople have found a flying machine left from the battle. They put in a symbiot and fed it till it reached full size and sent it upward. It hovers over the black dessert at the edge of the atmosphere. It is scanning the desert
looking for the source. Worm people are covered with mucus to protect them from their own acid and they cannot live in a dessert. Thunderbird Z is toying with the idea of redirecting a small ice comet to fall right into the desert.

I didn't know about this Tavern of the Gods. Why didn't anyone tell me? I will travel there now just to check it out. I am sure Beriya will be OK while I am gone.

I have been traveling around for a long time. In my travels I have picked up quite a few languages along the way. I have noticed that on most of the worlds I have been to there is a common language that most folks know. When I arrived at this world I noticed that there were different languages, but no common tongue.

Undaunted, I went around to the different races of Beriya (like the Roocaf, Primevans, Humans, Elves, Dogarr, Mashileen, Krageri, Dragons, and even the gets) to learn their languages. Then, I created my own language that each of the races here could easily learn and understand. Even for a god like me, it took some time and effort. That war made it more difficult too.

Now, however, I have that common language and I have been traveling to each culture here on the known world teaching it select folks (the smartest ones I can find) so they in turn can teach it to others. You can call it the Common Language or the Traveler's Tongue, whatever you like, but I just wanted you folks to know that it's out there ready for use.

It really is very easy to learn, speak and write. Now, I have new places on Beriya to travel to and explore...

How can I find the lost trail if it's lost?

The next poster will write that he or she is unable to write anything.

I am a traveler. They call me the god of travelers, and that is good with me, just as long as I don't have to stay in one place too long. I often feel my worshippers pray to me and take a part of my divinity to answer their prayers, etc. I am used to it. As long as I am traveling, I am okay.
I found this world by accident. I had just left my previous world because some idiot/god destroyed it, so I had to quickly find a new place to roam. Look, I am a god, but even I have limitations. I can't stay in the Void forever, or I will end up in the Graveyard of the Gods. Lucky for me, I was Called here.
I have ended up walking around the main continent of this world (both the continent and world are currently nameless), because they rest of it isn't exactly defined. I have been on worlds like that. Whoever the Creator, or Creators, of this world are, they have not gotten around to making those parts yet. This large land is getting to be pretty well defined, but there are places to the far west, south, and north that are not. I guess that big crater filled that ruby colored goo would be considered the center, but it really isn't.
There is an ocean to the east, but the folks here don't know yet that there another continent across it, plus a bunch of islands in-between. To the far south are jungle (and this giant gorilla god), but there is also another continent south of this one that is a lot hotter and much weirder.
To the far west is a vast hinterland with some very dangerous folks. I may avoid that area for now.
To the far north is a frozen land, past that Obsidian Mountain, with really cold people and living glaciers. I "see" someone calling it Ralopa, but it has other names. As I said, a lot is still undefined, but it will eventually get there. That's when I have to move on. Time to start walking...
