This is interesting and I haven't got a chance to try 2nd E yet. Hmm I think ancestry human.

Arianna's first attack falls short by inches. Her second connects scoring a deep stab in the gut of the cultist. He growls and stays standing. Serena fires a ray of light again at the cultist next to Balthasar.
The cultist that drips blood attacks Arianna. Cultist #6 Melee atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Arianna deftly steps aside. Frustration and effort are apparent on his face. The cultist beside Balthasar takes a step behind him, flanking him with the Demon and lunges at his back. Cultist #3 Melee V FF AC Balthasar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 He finds a hard target, blade unable to find purchase through the warriors armor. The furthest cultist comes forward 15 feet and fires a crossbow bolt at Serena. Ranged atk v. Serena: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Thrall is up, then Bitey
Sorry to see you go Rednal, you've been a staple on these boards for years. I second bitey, feel free to hit me up on Discord if you need to chat. Hopefully at some point you'll get to return to the field of play here. I agree that we should get an arcane caster. It is really nice to have someone in that role, especially the Archmage mythic path is super helpful. I'm still going to have us continue to play, while we recruit. I also would like to use Serena as an NPC and side plot point in this game if that is okay with Rednal and none of the rest of you have objections. ALSO, I can't find the old recruitment thread for the life of me. Do you guys remember specifically if you used point buy, I think by looking at your sheets, you're likely at 20-25PB or any other caveats or house rules when you built?
Botting Bitey The little goblin bears his teeth and shrieks, charging forward at the Tiefling in front of him. Rage/free action
He jumps forward and bites down on the leg of his enemy, sinking his teeth into the thigh, with a quick tear, he rips free a chunk of flesh and the femoral artery, the Tiefling drops dead from blood loss seconds later. The odd looking Tiefling in the back charges forward, longsword in hand, straight for Balthasar and Thrall, certain the whole group is dangerous but especially aware of the danger Holy Warriors pose him and his men. The sounds of battle clash and the general din in the area intensifies as the on either side of the small section of tents is full of cultists engaged with crusaders. He lashes out with skill.
Balthasar is up
The cultist flashed a smile as he ducked Arianna's first strike only to have her second one catch him squarely in the throat. He dropped to the ground gasping and gurgling blood. Botting Serena Serena stepped forward raising her arm and releasing a beam at the cultist nearest her. Searing Ray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 but it shoots wide and strikes one of the tents causing it to erupt in flame. One Cultist charges Thrall, longsword connecting solidly, but Thrall managed to shift taking the blow to the shoulder instead of the neck.
Following his ally's lead a Cultist does the same, charging Balthasar and connecting under the arm
One of them fires a hand crossbow at Bitey, but the small target proves to be a harder target than the Tiefling can handle.
A Cultist further back fires at Balthasar with his crossbow. It strikes him square in the chest and clatters off his armor uselessly.
The last Cultist runs up to Arianna, sword drawn. She deftly dodges his cumbersome strike.
Cultist #1 is down, Thrall is up
Over the next hour or so the party discusses the battle plan with Irabeth and Standard Kain as you ride toward the embankment preparing for battle. "Kain and I will command the troops while the five of you charge the heart of the enemy position. Hopefully disrupting their commander if there is one present and allowing us to strike before they can assemble. A sound plan." Irabeth says. Anevia nods at her side in agreement. Anevia's scouts effectively silence the two outlying scouts before the ridge. Reaching the roll of the ridge, a slight slope leads down about 50 yards to the dried up river crossing, a sad sight, not much water here. Before it is about 2 dozen campfires and a hodgepodge of brown tents on the green and brown splotchy grass. The party quickly identifies the center of the camp and Irabeth easily assembles the army into a Calvary line on the crest of the ridge, not wasting any time she orders the paladins to charge into Tiefling ranks to make the most of their element of surprise. The party is at the forefront of the charge, the thundering sound as a hundred warhorse's and clanking plate armor pulse down the hill, the crusaders giving off a loud war cry. The Cultists are caught by surprise and began to leap up scrambling for weapons and moving to get into some sort of formation in the 30 or so seconds it takes the front line to reach the outskirts of the tents. Six cultists rise to meet the party, with a seventh being similar to teifling but with cloven hooves and black horns. DC 12 Religion or Planes:

How I'm considering doing it is having you guys do an encounter kind of "inside" the battle and giving bonuses to the actual battle based on the outcome. The other option is that we have the commander in this case Balthasar make round by round rolls, and ordering tactics in sort of a simulation of combat. The upside to simulation is that it will go quicker which will allow us to reach our destination sooner IRL. But if you guys are thirsty for some combat we can do a battle encounter. Let me know what people think.
The group travels for the day with little event. The country side is damaged, dead and burnt out more than it should be, but life is not gone, there are still patches of trees and grass, birds still inhabit the area. Anevia and Arianna return with the scouts at about an hour until sundown. Anevia reports to the party. "The bunker at Vilareth Ford, is overrun.' she pants, 'It looks like just yesterday the crusaders there were taken by surprise and overcome, an army of about two hundred make their encampment on the east bank before the bunker itself. Heads and guts all strewn up on the walls and pikes." She spits with disgust. "The encampment is about half an hour's ride from here." she adds. Standard Kain looks to Balthasar. "Your orders my Lord?"
At dawn the party and their army depart Kenebres, one hundred mounted knights, their armor while well used, still shines in the light and they step their horses proudly into the Worldwound once again. At the head of the column, the party and their entourage trot. The army is followed by several horse drawn carts and wagons some of which were provide courtesy of Horgus Gwerm. A quarter master and staff travel with them. The map shows that it is 28 miles or about a day's travel to the town of Valas' Gift. The recruitment of new followers adds the following,

Sosiel considers a minute. "I don't unfortunately, perhaps we could petition the Queen." When the group petitioned the Queen, she ordered a cleric to give Aravashnial a scroll of restoration. With his sight restored the old elf happily agrees to accompany the group. In the morning the Queen gives a last piece of advice to the troop and you all at its head. She suggests that you march north directly to Valas's Gift and then follow the east bank of the Sellen river north until you reach Vilareth Ford at which point you can cross and follow the west bank to the Ahari riverbed. It is a 160 mile journey along this route. With the 100 heavily armored mounted paladins your group can cover about 36 miles a day.
During the course of the evening, the party interacts with the people of Defender's heart. The Queen makes an appearance much to the joy and cheering of her beleaguered host. Drinks are had toasts are given and throughout the night, when asked both Irabeth and Anevia agree to accompany the party so long as they both can go. Aravashnial sighs at the request and says, "I would love to accompany you but it would be to great a risk unless my sight could be restored first." After having a different buy still cordial tea with Bitey Horgus agrees to accompany the group as a provider of supply lines.
Sosiel watches Kain leave. "Commander, I'll retire for the night, and be at assembly at dawn for leaving. Actual tactics, you'll be able to hash out amongst yourselves tonight or on the actual march to Drezen." The dark skinned man bows and heads off toward the crusader camp. The group considers whom it could bring, Lady Irabeth, Aravashnial, Horgus and a few others come to mind. Aside from Horgus most of them are back inside the Heart. Evening approaches and inside Defender's Heart, the mood seems a lot better than it did even a day ago. Many people are supping in the main room of the inn and there is even a bit of singing and much chatter. It is now evening, you've had a day(8 hours) of downtime to use how you like. Your troops leave at your command, scheduled as of now for about 8 am tomorrow.

Listening fervently to Balthasar's into speech, the 100 crusaders lifted their swords in unison to give a cheer. A loud battle cry intermingled with calls of "Justice! And, Inheritor!" Waiting until the group finished discussing who to invite on the march, a single soldier introduced himself, "My lords and ladies, I am Cevunus Kain, your Standard." His armor, slightly more polished he wore a golden knot on the shoulder of his cape and had red horsehair crest on the crown of his helmet. "It will be my honor to act as forward commander and battalion quartermaster." He bowed. "The men are ready to leave at your command, do we march now, or are we holding position until daybreak?" He speaks with the calm ease of a veteran soldier. After Standard Kain leaves with orders. Sosiel gathers the party around him. "Lady, Shelyn, we lift your servant, Iolaire, up to you. Welcome her soul into the ever garden of Nirvana, that she may walk in beauty for all time. May you take joy in the beauty of her bravery and sacrifice in defiance of evil. Lead her to rest in the warmth of you presence for ever." Sosiel finished his quick eulogy with a solemn moment of silence.
The Queen smiles, "Bold indeed, and you shall leave almost immediately. But first, all of you, take a knee." As you kneel in a line she draws her sword and approaches. "By the power vested in me as the monarch of the people of Mendev, general of the crusade and blessed of the Inheritor. I Galfrey, do herby dub you Knights of the Fifth Crusade. This title allows you to command armies, and own lands vassals as well as qualifying for the medals of righteousness." One of the guards lays a fine wooden box with velvet inside on the table bearing number of medals. She tips her sword on the shoulder first of Balthasar, "Rise Sir Heimren, another addition to a storied tradition of knights." Next, "Rise Sir Thrall, your devotion is an inspiration to all." "Rise Ser Serena, prudent wisdom and keen wit are essential to society and the war effort. Your example is most assuring." "Rise Ser Arianna, the past is behind you. I name you worthy. This is my word, and as such, is beyond contestation." She shoots a meaningful look to her guards who appeared slightly surprised at the inclusion of an apparent criminal in the knighting ceremony. "Rise Sir Bitey, your loyalty warms the heart and your tenaciousness will surely bring us victory." Sheathing her sword, she smiles again. "You leave at dawn tomorrow, come let us go and meet your troops and lieutenants." She leads you outside, where assembled before you are 100 fresh crusaders, Paladins all, their silver armor and golden capes shining in the afternoon sun. The salute the queen and their new commanders. Several more uniquely dressed crusaders approach, bowing and introducing themselves. The first a rough looking young man. Fair skinned with dark hair. "Aron Kir at your service my lords, your majesty. I've just been reassigned from an engineering corps to your regiment. An on honor to serve." Next a solemn handsome man dark of hair and skin, his silver and bronze plate is engraved with the holy symbol of Shelyn. "Sosiel Vaenic, good heroes. Priest of the Eternal Rose and most glad to be accompanying you on this Vital mission." Lastly a female halfling in a green tunic and riding pants. She gives a hasty bow, "Nura Dendiwhar, your lordships and ladyships, musician and humble biographer of the this fifth crusade. I try to be where history is and that seems to be with you as of the moment." She smiles. "You may of course invite any that would be of use to you or friends you wish to accompany you. Please rest well and I look forward to your success." The Queen salutes and turns to march back to her camp with guards in tow. Merry Christmas!

Arianna:
Hey how exactly heinous was the crime you were accused of committing and was it true or were you wrongfully prosecuted. I'm debating the likelihood of a LG queen, knighting a goblin... Thoughts anyone? Bitey? Your "owner" Is no longer with us, so how do you see yourself advancing, as far as thinking of yourself as a Nail Dog and not so much a goblin? Balthasar, which of your family members are still alive? Not your father, but your brother Silas and uncle Henrik right?
The innkeeper pales momentarily at the mention of the Queen coming. He regained his composure quickly and scuttled from the room. He came back and lit the candles. Wiping his sweat from his brow. "Would you like the meal now or served once the Queen has arrived?" he complies whichever way the party prefers. After an hour or so of waiting, the door opens with no knock and two full plated crusaders walk in and take stock of the room for a moment. After they are satisfied the Queen enters. Queen Galfrey appears to be a woman in her mid thirties but she is in fact over one hundred years old. She has led the crusaders since the first crusade. She surveys the group with calm and storied eyes. She wears her armor still, recently cleaned by a squire but still bearing the marks of hard use. She looks every bit the hero queen and leader of faith she is, only lessened from the air of sublime tiredness that emanates from her. She smiles and says,
Another question. So many feats in UtDB are required to be taken at first level. Is it possible to waive that restriction or is there a way to get more than one feat at 1st level? Unless we are doing standard PF human in which case everyone would get two feats at 1st. Also I will be rolling a channeling class, are we going to be playing in a time period where the Black tower is established, therefore allowing me to take Initiate as a male, or should I just take wilder. Also, I'm a little confused, I believe that the casting stat for Initiate is INT and for Wilder's is WIS, though it appears a number of channeling feats have WIS for a secondary prereq for Initiates and CHA for wilders, am I correct on this?
The herald nods. "Splendid, I shall inform her majesty. Please wait in the private hall." he takes his leave and hurries out into the street. The private hall in Defender's Heart appears to be a wholly intact room that was likely used for parties or important dignitaries who didn't want to dine with common soldiers and workers. The room is clean with no windows, several braziers sit in corners as well as large clumps of half melted candles on the large worn oak table. There appear to be about ten chairs. The walls are adorned with paintings of the earlier crusades as well as tapestries and sconces. The innkeeper pops his head in after a moment and inquires as to what you're doing in the room "Hello folks, did you need to use the private hall? You're welcome of course, would you like a meal or me to light up the candles? I can bring pen and parchment too if'n you need my lords."
Thrall if you want to switch that feat out that's fine. Now is the time to tweak characters before we get into the meat of things. Hope you're feeling better Balthatsar, thanks for the explanation. I sometimes forget that people aren't necessarily familiar with the umpteen extra systems in PF. The base value however is 4,400. This and the limit are being affected by a multitude of negative modifiers due to the state of this usually much larger/wealthier city.

Day wanes to night and the city takes a watchful sleep. Kenabres is still until morning. As the sun rises, the call is sent up that the crusade is returning. Thousands upon thousands of weary crusaders march or ride into the city. Bloodied, grimy and grateful to have a place to rest, even if that place is mostly decimated. The members of Eagle's Watch, poor into the street to begin helping the wounded. Tents are set up. Whole battalions shelter in the blasted out charred ruins of large buildings. Horses are set in makeshift stables that are little more than wooden debris purposefully set between fallen walls of buildings to give a little shelter from the elements. There is plenty of work to be done and all able bodied soldiers and surviving citizens, begin to do whatever they can to help, from searching for surviving wells to draw clean water to searching the devastated houses for unspoiled clothes food and medical supplies. In the early afternoon, the party is approached by an armored herald, an obvious Paladin of Iomedae but carrying many dispatches and scrolls, he bows and says. "Brave ones, her majesty, Queen Galfrey has heard rumor of your exploits and wishes an audience with you. She is happy to meet you at Defender's Heart if that suits you and if you tell me a time, I will inform her."
Alright folks, New Gameplay is up. Feel free to start it back up. Post in discussion and we can just get rolling again.
After talking with the scouts, you are informed that the Queen and the main body of the crusade are on their way back to the city and are currently about a day away. Taking the news of what happened in the city and at the Gray Garrison, the scout hurries away to speak to Irabeth and any other important parties as he prepares his report for the Queen. The Inn is in a somber mood, but being mostly full of crusaders and professional mercenaries, there is an air of grim determination as soldiers polish weapons and draw water for cleaning wounds and wiping the ash and bloody grime from their armor and skin. Several priests walk here and there ministering to those who would listen or helping the surgeons and clerics where possible. The party has a day of down time. There is food, beds, and the quartermaster is open for business, set up in the corner of the main tavern room watching over the few supplies that were able to be gathered during the chaos.

Yes it counts. basically like DND 5th, you can use dex automatically for light or slashing weapons if you want.
Jereru wrote: Any change we need to do to Mythic feats? I know many GMs have their own take on those, since some of them are quite powerful, like Mythic Power Attack. Correct, Mythic versions of feats still need to be taken, you would just be counted as having regular power attack for example even though it didn't officially cost you a feat.
Alright fam, time to nail down some particulars. I believe you are all back at the inn, Defender's Heart. So literally right at the start of Book 2. I have a couple of house rules that are common in my games. They are as follows, 1. Power attack, deadly aim, weapon finesse, and arguably like gateway feats are just combat options. Everyone counts as "having them" for prereqs. Feel free to leave them on your sheets if you like the reminder, just take a feat to replace the cost of purchasing said tax. 2. I like to use a compounding crit system for some very rare Uber heroic combat happenings. basically it works the same as regular crit system with the following caveats, If you roll a natural 20 on a crit confirmation roll, you double your crit modifier. I.E a 20 roll on a confirmation with a longsword changes the damage multiplier to a x4 the same with a scythe a x8. If you roll a 20 on confirmation you are also granted a bonus roll that has no effect save one. If you roll a third natural 20, you will heroically and in an epic fashion described by me, or if you have a particularly awesome idea in mind just write it out right there post roll, kill the target outright. If everyone would sound off either here or in the discussion page, when I know the group is ready, I'll open a new campaign and get us rolling. Feel free to ask clarifying questions or any questions really, of course.
