"The Twin"'s page

The Twin grabs his file and reads through it with a grim smile on his face before tossing it over his shoulder. The file folder flaps open as the scant pages flutter around before spreading chaotically across the floor. "The only interesting thing in my file is that we are somehow wards of the crown admitted on the same day." he says, taking note of what he can see in the others' folders from his vantage point.

As Cats keeps yelling about his name, the Twin's brain throbs. "In the name of whatever god Brother follows, please just call that idiot a 'cat' if it will make him shut up." he says in an effort to relieve the walking headache.

"Let's move to the dayroom so I we can get the hell out of here." the Twin says as he moves down the hall to investigate the doorway they passed.

The Twin wrenches his dagger from the man's shoulder as he wipes the blood onto the man's tunic. "You can keep that..." he says as the Snake joins him once more.

Seeing that the feline-attuned is searching for shiny trinkets, the Twin stands by to help with Fearless's choice of intimidation. "I thought that these robes turned yellow once they saw you, Fearless." the Twin says with a smirk. "Here, try shoving a dagger into their wounds. That tends to make them talk." he says as he flips the blade over and extends the hilt to the halfling.

Intimidate Assist to Fearless: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

When he sees that the cultists don't take him seriously, his eyes narrow and he flips the blade back over and holds it to the throat of the purple robed cultist. "Do you think I won't slit your throat right here?" he asks with a steely voice.

Perhaps that is enough to get a +2 circumstance bonus to aid Fearless. :D

As the Snake is besot by the man in blue, he hisses before lunging forward to try and sink its fangs into the man's leg.

However, the Snake appears to be losing his connection to this world and his link to the power of the other plane is waning.

The Twin hears Brother Butterfly's request and seemingly snaps out of a trance. The newly awakened man looks oddly at Brother. "I have no desire to swing a club around wildly." he says as he pulls out one of his thin daggers and flings it past the Mariner's head, aiming for the chest of the acolyte in purple. "These blades are just fine."

The Twin looks over from his thorough investigation of the door and says concretely. "The door appears to be a door. We should be safe." he advises as he sees the group assembling a bevvy of magical treasures that he cannot identify.

Closing his eyes, the Twin contacts the Hidden Snake in the library above and tries to see what he sees.

Watching as the group tears through the remains of the Asylum, the Twin follows behind the group, oddly quiet and reserved as he flips the dagger around in his hand. The Snake slithers along side him as the Twin watches the crazies butcher the Doctor and then worry about blood.

"Perhaps you should have considered the blood spray before you hacked off her head, Mariner." the Twin says dourly as Brother and the Butcher fumble around with pitchers of water.

Seeing a staircase in the corner, the Twin edges around the blood as the Snake's tongue flicks out, lightly tasting the pool before they reach the base of the spiral stairs. "Check it out, friend." Twin says as the Snake nods and slithers silently up the steps to investigate the lofted library.

Snake-Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

As the Snake investigates the staircase, the Twin will take the time to examine the door nearby. "Once you all finish your collective sponge bath, perhaps we should keep moving. The roiling yellow fog outside the windows is probably not going to be kept at bay by simple glass for long." he says in an effort to get them to focus.

I've messaged our illustrious and wonderful GM, but I figure that I'll make a post here.

Recently, I have been lax in posting properly. Most of my games have lost their appeal to me and it makes logging on feel like work instead of like fun. In the end, I've decided to finish out any games that will be ending soon and end about half of the remaining games.

I really enjoy this game, but this is a several year long commitment and I think that leaving now would be better than fading out over the long term with poor post rates and subpar posts.

The Twin nods to Mariner as he moves with the man, keeping about 30' between him and the man, but he he gives a flick of the hand as he speaks softly. "Follow him to make sure he doesn't die."

The Snake slithers forward to follow the Mariner as the Twin opens the door into the hallway revealed by Brother.

Stealth-Snake: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

To Brother, Twin nods to the northern door as he and the priest of Desna moves towards it. "Use your palm-eyes to look through this door while Mariner deals with that door. It will help us speed up a bit."

The Twin's eyes gloss over as the group barters for flasks of flammable liquid. "I just want to leave..."

Once everyone appears to be ready, he moves along with Brother to the door to the Infirmary. "About time to move this along." he says with a sigh as he draws his magical dagger and keeps the Snake at the ready next to him.

The Snake loosens from around Ratch and the Twin looks at the offerings to the group. "Apologies for my friend eating all of your kin. Next time you should just say hello." he says as his eyes flash with magic.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Cloak of resistance +1
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Unidentified.

The Twin recognizes the cloak and shrugs, unsure if he really wants one. "I have a fairly nice dagger. I don't need the cloak, though it will boost your innate defenses against magic and poison and the like." he says. "But, I don't know what the brooch is."

"Also, we have no need to boot them from the building, nor do we even know if we can." he says, feeling a bit bad for causing so much harm when he and the Snake hardly have a scratch. "Let them stay here and make sure you tell the Inquisitor of whoever that they are here and are peaceful."

Looking to Ratch and Genny, the Twin narrows his eyes. "Be nice to the humans." he starts. "Now, where can we find the Catterman... I mean Tatterman?" he asks, stumbling due to Cats' constant alteration of speech.

The Twin looks impassively at Genny, but he finds that Cats' comment makes him smile.

Hearing the words of the cloaked rat, the Twin is unimpressed. "Inconsequential. We already know his name. Squeak to the point faster. " he says icily as the Snake squeezes down in the cloaked rat and the man keeps his dagger between him and the rat-woman.

The Twin keeps his eyes looking at the ratlings that was just on his back. "Back off, mouseman." he says as the Snake pins the ratling, wrapping him tightly up in his coils, but not choosing to further harm the lead ratling.

The Twin's dagger remains pointed as he looks unsure at Cats. "You would let these rats strike out to kill us in an ambush and then, once we stay their blade, allow their surrender?" he says with a sneer. "Your hubris may be your death."

The Twin feels the ratling leap onto his back so he bucks back against the small creature and whips around. "Think you can take me?!" he yells as he takes a swipe with the dagger in his other hand as the Snake lunges once more, trying to snag the stronger, magic-wielding rat.

The Twin scowls as the ratling disappears into the ether. "Well, at least they don't all flee." he says as he sees the one appearing after searing Brother's leg. "Looks like there is more prey..." he adds as he turns and lets the Snake rush in first to try and grapple the small humanoid.

"Do you not see that one, Fearless?" he asks, confused by the halfling as the Snake strikes.

Once the Snake tries to attack, but gets trapped under the table, the Twin flings a normal dagger at the rat from 10' away. "Take this!"

Seemingly invigorated by the bloodbath of the tiny rats, Twin and the Snake rush into the room with the sleeping Cats. "Now even the mascot is relaxing?!" he says as Fearless and Pinkie flee from the room. "I just saw Pinkie run out. He literally just ran in here, running in fear from the swarm and leaving me behind to fend for myself!"

Much swifter than usual, the snake slithers under the table to the south and lashes out at the ratling from against the wall, trying to grapple him as Twin goes in with his magical dagger.

The swarm flees in the direction of the solitary Twin as Pinkie and Brother flee. "Cowards! I'll devour your souls if I die!" he yells after them as he is left to deal with the swarm on his own.

Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Snake- AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

The bonded pair attacks as the swarm moves, but Twin is still overrun and feels the bite of a thousand teeth. "And your imaginary family's souls, Pinkie, you bloody useless piece of..."

Twin cannot finish his thought as he slashes once more with his magical dagger and retreats as the Snake continue to harass the swarm from maximum range.

The Twin moves forward as Pinkie and Brother decide to flee to the north. "Cowards..." he mutters as he is left with the swarm of rats. He flings a non-magical dagger at the swarm as he steps out of the bookcase maze and the Snake lashes out from the top of the bookcases, trying to eat as many as possible.

Dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

With his left hand, the Twin draws a blade from his bandolier and flings it at the swarm, hoping to distract it away from the gagging Snake as his eidolon flees up and over the bookcase.

"Get away from me, Pink! The rats are just going to swarm over us regardless of how bold you think you might be!" he yells as he retreats away from the withered creature that the group seems to like keeping around.

As the rat swarm rushes over the Snake, he lashes out with his mouth once more, trying to scoop up some of the red-furred rats.

Fortitude Save-Snake: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Snake is Nauseated in the next round.

Twin sees happen in slow motion as he seems to have pretty poor reflexes. The rats swarming reminds him of the fight yesterday which was terrible for him, but he doesn't quite wish to be the recipient of the multitude of rat bites.

"Please eat to your heart's content." Twin says to the Snake as the creature lunges with its jaw distended.

Bite @ Red Swarm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Twin slashes with his magical dagger, trying to kill a few as well as he retreats away, hoping to build some distance as the Snake follows.

Damage | Arcane Strike: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6

Setting up for an AoO for Snake since he has reach.

With a yell, Twin calls out to those in the far room. "Are you guys dead in there? We got rats out here too!" he yells in response to Cats. "Last a few more seconds and we can come help!"

The Twin watches the group try to cram the halfling into the hole in the wall and he shakes his head. "What is wrong with you lot." he says as he moves to the double doors and opens them, hearing Brother already mention the hallway had only doors.

"Let's go. Stop messing around, Fearless." he says as the crazed man rants about rats.

The Twin decides that Cats has a point and stands, summoning the Snake from the ether as harrow cards swirl around his feet, forming into the reptilian eidolon. "My friend here can eat as many as we find. Just don't die in the mean time." the Twin advises to Fearless.

After a few quick strides, he reaches Cats' side. "I'm not sure anything in here has a beef with us, yet most have tried to kill us..." he says, unsure of Cats' statement. "Except that poor, innocent door."

The Twin watches as the group panics due to Cats screams. "So dreams can harm you in this forsaken world?" he says, unbelieving off what is happening in front of him.

As Brother Butterfly rushes to wake the man, the Twin feels like this cannot be true, so he keeps his eyes peeled for some sort of invisible creature. "Maybe that last ratling came back for punishment on the Cat. Seems fitting." he says as he waits for the results of Brother's attempt to awaken the sleeping man.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

The Snake slithers up into the corner of the bookcases, slowly digesting the corpses and soon-to-be corpses of the ratlings in his belly. The bulging frame of the harrow-marked reptile coils up, leaving a small pyramid of scales with the occasional forked tongue flicking out of the top, like a volcano.

The Twin moves into the library and picks up his magical dagger from the ground as he sees the group tending to their wounds. "My pet and I are able to continue, but if you need to rest, then it appears that we can find the time." he says as Fearless starts to relax on his cot.

Since we brute forced the door haunt thing, can we close it in case the last ratling wants to kamikaze?

The Twin realizes that he is in the laundry room and remembers that he was afraid, but cannot figure out what was so scary now that he thinks about it a second time.

Shrug, hindsight... he says as he saunters back to the room, watching Cats run past him in terror.

As Pinkie shoves his rapier through the throat of the ratling, the Snake swallows it, shoving it on top of the others trapped in the inter-dimensional snake's belly.

As another one appears, the Snake hisses in pleasure. "Hsssss..." It slithers over and lashes out with a quick strike, hoping to bite another prey.

The Twin rounds the corner into the room filled with decaying linens and laundry as he screams incoherently. "WHY MEEEEEEE!" he yells.

The Snake clamps down on the ratling in his jaws as he seeks to consume another delicious verminoid. "Sssssssshhhhh..." he hisses in an attempt to ease the creature's path to the Boneyard.

Is the map correct? I only see a dead ratling and another one.

The snake turns and lashes out at the nearest target after the rest of the Watchmen have attacked, choosing to aid them instead of address the fleeing master.

As the Twin disappears from view from the Watchmen, he reappears after a few moments in the rest area/hospital of the survivors. The shirtless/pantless man runs through the area. Without waiting for the inevitable punishment, the man flees deeper into the asylum.

The Snake twists harder as he tightens his grip on the creature,s inking its fangs deeper and deeper.

As the Twin flees, he runs around like a chicken with his head cut off, running back into the library and slamming into a bookcase. You see that he has somehow lost his tunic and his chain shirt, running around without a shirt.

The dazed man stumbles backwards and sees the scene of horror before him and runs off into the asylum once more. "Help me, Ospra-Winnahprey!" yells the man as he disappears from sight.

The Snake keeps the ratling trapped in his fangs as he thrashes about, trying to end the life of his prey, coiling his body around the vermin-turned-humanoid.

As the Twin stabs the ratling from around the corner, the creature lets loose a blast of magic and bares its fangs at the man. The glowing rune on his forehead falters slightly as the harrow card shuffler's eyes widen. "F+~* THIS S#!%! GOOD LUCK!" he yells as he turns tail and runs back into the admissions hall.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

The Snake lashes out at the ratling as it flees, trying to harm it.

Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 I don't think that will grapple.

As the ratling scurries away, the Snakes houses and tries to follow, hoping to overcome the fear.

As it ignores the rat's spell, it tries to chomp down once more.

The Twin moves up next to Brother Butterfly and stabs at the other enemy from around the corner. "Stay out of harm's way, Brother! " he yells.

As the rat swarms surge around the room, the Snake finds a few opportunities to lash out at the moving rats, hoping to eat a few more.

None of the ink is dry yet, however I should be receiving the final draft of the contract this week. I will be an assistant professor at one of (if not 'the') top private law schools in India. It's not much money in American terms, however, with the difference in cost of living, the money will stretch well in New Delhi. Also, they pay for a lot of the basics like housing and healthcare, which is great! :D

Overwhelmed by the swarms of rats, the Snake slithers away from the party and down the corner of the bookshelf, moving below the yellow-eyed ratling. He hisses violently at the rats as he feels the ones he's swallowed trying to escape.

"Hmm... Well that was quite rude." the Twin says as he steps forward and throws one of his non-magical daggers, trying to impale the other swarm with the aid of the group's help.

He keeps his magical blade at the ready, in case the swarm closes in on him and he gets an opportunity to slash at the rats.

The Twin wipes his mouth as he swipes off the drool off with his sleeve as he moves up next to Cats. "I thought you use a rapier." he says non-chalantly.

The Snake, eating some more of the rats, sees the remaining swarm and hisses in delight as its belly wriggles from the trapped rats.

The Snake feels the thousands of tiny teeth rending his flesh slightly and begins to gag, trying to vomit back up the whole rats stuck in his belly.

The Twin scowls and cuts at the rats attacking his eidolon. "Be gone, vermin! "

"I don't know." the Twin says as the ratlings don't attack, other than the hyper-aggressive Mariner.

"Why are we trying to kill them?" he asks.

Hold Action for both.

The Twin looks at the ratlings and moves in, gripping his dagger. "Snakes enjoy eating rats, I believe." he says to himself as the Snake nods in agreement, salivating at the thought of a fresh ratling.

"Stay near me, but feel free to eat one." he adds as the Snake hisses and readies to bite one when it approaches. The Twin imbues his dagger with minor power as he readies a strike as well.

I'm not opposed!

Deadly Aim and Power Attack are usual "always available" feats in several games, but I think Combat Reflexes falls into a more specialized area as most builds don't take that feat unless you are using reach weapons or have some other methods to get AoOs.

"It smells fragrant in here." comments the Twin as he approaches the doorway, smelling the deep, primal scent. "Perhaps there is another creature you can bash to death in here." he says, certain now that the bloodlust of Mariner and Brother Butterfly exceeds his own.

The Twin and the Snake will gaze into the room, trying to determine what may have caused the ruckus in the library.

Perception-Snake: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

If there is no apparent danger, then the Twin blesses the Snake with some magical armor and the pair slowly creeps inside, dagger and fangs at the ready.

The Twin sees the feeble attacks and looks down to his dagger and thinks that it is surely not going to work if the Snake's fangs failed to penetrate the eye. "It doesn't appear to be normal. An eye should be weak to attacks, but this is strong." says the Twin choosing to step back away from combat. "I cannot damage it."

He thinks about the few interactions with the eye and only remembers it crying out ammonia and calling out 'Who am I become'. "Perhaps we have gone about this all wrong. It attacks when attacked and asked a question..." he says, scratching his chin.

"Mr. Eye!" the Twin calls out to the enemy. "You are a giant eyeball attached to a door that we need to pass through." he says, trying to explain what it has become. "You drip down terribly pungeant tears and are very resilient to attack."

"It doesn't have ears though, so I wonder if it can hear. Though, it doesn't have a mouth and it talked, so who am I to judge..." he says, hoping his words have some effect.

The Twin and his companion quickly retreat into the building to avoid being scalded. His face is dour as he says. "It appears it is time for the eye to perish so that we may leave. "

He pulls out the magical dagger and looks to Brother Butterfly. "Gather them up. Let's kill it. "

The Twin will advance on the Eye to stab it unless he is stopped.

The Twin follows along with Cats into the courtyard and sees the opening in the ceiling. His eyes light up at the sight of the sky, despite the overcast nature of the day and he silently motions to the Snake as it slithers over to the wall and tries to climb.

@GM: Can you climb the wall to the top with a Climb speed?

Seeing that the Snake might reach the top without him, he quickly moves over to the fallen shed and investigates the contents of the dilapidated outdoor building. "Yo. Kathmandu. Find something to climb. Perhaps we can escape out of that hole in the ceiling..." he calls to the man staring up at the same possibility of escape.

"Why do you lot keep discussing fish?" asks Twin, confused by their conversation as he takes small bites from his cookie, trying to savor it while also satisfy his roaring appetite. "Is it because he thinks he is a cat?" Twin asks with a slight head nod towards Cats.

Twin listens to their conversation for a bit longer, but decides that he wants out of this loony bin and looks for York. "Hey, whelp." he says with a friendly smile. "Is that eyeball thing blocking the only exit? Are there no other ways out of this building?" he asks, positive that there has to be another way out.

The Twin yawns as he awakes to find the eye still staring at him but he seems unaffected by the gaze of the weird creature. "Hmm... I should summon my friend back to this plane." he states to no one in particular as he works on his ritual, creating the Snake out of an ethereal deck of Harrow cards.

Once the Snake has returned, the Twin realizes that he has barely eaten and moves to scrounge up food, deftly moving past Cats in the chair. "He must have liked the Eye too." he says absentmindedly.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Looking for the good foods. :D

The Twin sees Pinkie playing with himself in the corner and nods to the man and his three imaginary friends. "Pink." he says, lifting his chin slightly to the man before regarding the others. "Steve, Bill, uhh..." he forgets the third, but quickly covers it up by making up a third. "Martha."

"Saved it..."

The Twin looks at the eye and realizes that the day of killing skin-stealers is quite tiring. The Twin finds the eye to be quite entertaining so he sits near eye, watching it as it watches him. The Snake stays by his side. Occasionally, he will whisper to it.

"What are you..."

"Who are you..."

"Who am I..."

After a while, he dozes off a he leans against the nearby wall and the Snake fades from existence.

Sorry for the disappearance over the last 24 hours. Ended up falling asleep several hours before my usual time, thus I didn't get to my round of updates. On the plus side, it is my birthday and I'm drinking local craft beer and local bourbon in Louisville, KY!

The Twin sees the throbbing, yellow protrusions along the hall and finds himself intrigued. "Guys..." he yells back to the group as he and the Snake disappear behind the hanging cloth that flirts close one the Twin releases it.
