"I see my rivals will stoop so low as to steal my people." Tartuccio then backs away with several guards as the others turn to fight you. Evidently there is another exit to this tomb.

Tartuccio rolls his eyes in annoyance at Signy.

Speaking towards Halden and Pyros, he says. "Come, let's see if your fools are as useless as mine!"
Turning to his guards, he continues. "Draw your swords! Cover my retreat!"

Ignoring Jaethal, Tartuccio continues.
"Quickly now! We must find the artifact before someone else seizes it! Someone...who's standing over there right now watching you, you fools!" Tartuccio turns his angry gaze upon you as he nods at his guards to draw their weapons.

You enter the tomb, after squeezing through the opening. You immediately see that there is light ahead and can now clearly hear voices and the sound of digging. The corridor is short and ends in a large room. There is little danger of you being heard as the people in the room are making plenty of noise.

As you get closer, you can make out the distinct sound of Tartuccio's voice.

"Let me guess -- you're still dawdling?" Tartuccio scoffs at his underlings, unimpressed.
"Should I make some tea in the meantime? Bake a pie, perhaps? Plant a garden and harvest some cherries? Perhaps you'd be more comfortable wearing fools' caps and colored trousers? Then at least I'd be able to sell tickets. Come one, come all! Come see -- 'The Slowest and Most Ridiculous Buffoons on Golarion!'"

"That one," Tartuccio says, pointing at Pyros, "He is in cahoots with the other."

Lady Aldori! Please, I know who arranged this attack. The vile king of Pitax, Irovetti! What's more, I know who among us works for him..." After a dramatic pause, Tartuccio points at Halden. "You! Show everyone the ring you are wearing! You think I wouldn't recognize the seal of Irovetti? That's why he wasn't killed -- the bandits recognized him as one of their own by his signet ring!"

Tartuccio kicks the morose dwarf.
"Get up you faker! Or we will leave you here!"

Halden:

Tartuccio approaches you,
"The other one refused this gift, stupid fool, I need someone capable to protect me as we go forward. You were able to dispatch those ruffians quite efficiently, I should have offered this to you first. It is magical, it will protect you."
He hands you a gold ring.

Pyros:

Seeing him pocket the ring, Tartuccio insists,
"Put it on silly! It does no good in your pocket. I'm sure the the other fighter that dispatched several others would gladly wear if you don't want it. It is magical protection against attacks after all."

Pyros:

While everyone is searching, Tartuccio leans close to you and whispers,
"Speaking of dummies..." He eyes Linzi, "Take this ring -- quiet now, so that little fool doesn't hear us! She might try to steal it for herself... it's magical, it'll protect you. You'll need it while you work to defend me!"

He hands you a gold ring with a seal on it.

When the last assassin drops, Tartuccio speaks up.
"You're just in time! A bit longer and I'd have been... ugh, I don't even want to think about it! Can you imagine? What a terrible loss that would have been! But it's all right now, I'm safe, sound, and unscathed -- ready to lead you to victory!"

He continues,
"Lady Jamandi is holding the line in the banquet hall. We need to make our way to her! And along the way, we'll try to save some of these dummies that were supposed to accompany us into the Stolen Lands."

The purple gnome immediately replies, "I will, of course, I am the leader of this team after all. Don't worry, I'll make it worth your while for helping me."

The gnome sniffs dismissively and turns his back on her.
Barbarians! he says sotto voce, managing to squeeze as much contempt into the single word as is possible.
They are utterly useless as henchmen anyhow.

You are more than welcome to leave, young lady. replies a smartly dressed gnome with an abundance of purple hued dyes adorning his skin and hair in a decidedly insulting tone. I'm quite sure there is a keg to be smashed somewhere else.
