The faction talk area is still around on the forums, just kinda weird Paizo disconnected it from here. But if you're still interested in looking around there, since it is still active, just follow this link.

Long time reader here, but with the recent release of the new book, Ultimate Wilderness, a new class came along with it.

So scholars of this thread, I have a question or two for you. What would happen if one of the participants had levels in the shifter class? And another question similar, yet different, what would happen if one had the oozemorph archtype of the shifter class?

Silver Crusade 2/5

True and I agree, but the same thing could be said for most other APs and some modules, except for maybe Shattered Star. I understand that it is a challenge to figure it out how to get it to work, but that is the reason I am asking for assistance to figure out how.

Now if I wasn't too clear, I wanted help to make this work. Be it with scenarios or modules that seem to work with it, and level placement of the module parts of the AP.

Now this bit is a bit crass on my part, but I do not mean any offense, just annoyance but the comment. But if you want to lampoon it, simply for the fact that it "doesn't fit" for your tastes, doesn't mean I, or anyone else think the same. So please, if that is all the constructive criticism you have, I rather see about figuring out how to get this to work.

But thank you for your advice.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out a good way of running the module parts of Iron Gods with PFS. So far I have a idea on how to start it, but not necessarily how how to implement it.

Start off with two evergreen scenarios, then Murder's Mark. Afterwards, the first module part of Iron Gods. But I am not sure what to run after that. So any help and advice would be great.

Silver Crusade

Well, considering I have heard that us players are akin to a herd of cats... Well... With food? Or shiny bits. >.>

I honestly have no idea either. >.<

Silver Crusade

Wow, just watching this. But I have to say I see so many interesting characters.

I wonder if there is someone that might figure out how to make a Ranma type of character... >.>

GM Advocate:
I updated Alexander Malicdor with a bit ore tidbits in the backstory.

Made sure to note that the business is a lumber one, and looks to expand into different things.

Also written down that the reason he decides to listen to Cimri's plan is that running low on money, he doesn't want to return back to his mother to see about more funds.

Also, the thing about his sisters, is that they are currently out of the country of Cheliax. After all, they are both Pathfinders now. They might visit their mother, but with seeing Alexander so enthralled to Thrune, they might keep their distance. Anyway, there could be other family members show up later on though if you wish. Would be interesting to hear about a cousin, or maybe a half-sibling.

What do you think?

Silver Crusade 2/5

There is one thing that concerns me about this book. Does it replace the old Lion Blade prestige class like it did with the Living Monolith?

That is one I am curious about.

Edit: Ack! Sorry, was thinking about that new splat book that came out recently. Not Ult Intrigue.

GM Adovocate:

GM, I thank you for the questions and inquiries about Alexander. I'll try to answer the questions you put forth.

  • Alexander's Birthplace and Family residence: I thought of Westcrown, but Remesiana sounds good. The business is mostly a lumber company, but always looking to expand. The family is also interested in shipping business with supplying lumber for shipwrights and shipping of lumber.

With heading to Longacre, Alexander would have been sent to see about getting a Lumber Yard and a Lumber Mill started.

  • Yes, Alexander went to Egorian Academy. His older and younger sister are both wizards as well. The youngest sister is a Sorcerer. All the sisters joined the Pathfinder Society. As I said before, Alexander doesn't even know that Olyssia, the youngest sister even joined the Society.

  • The elder sister's corpse is in the family crypt. Possibly cast restore corpse with permanency. Though if not, once he knows how, Alexander would cast restore corpse upon it. Since that would bring the body back to when it just died. Doesn't say anything about the soul though.

  • He doesn't like the Society because his elder sister was killed shortly after she joined. His younger sister joined soon after to find out why she didn't return and sent the body of Reilly back afterwards. So all sisters joined the society. And one of them died because of it.

  • As I have written earlier, went to Longacre to see about trying to get either a lumberyard or a lumber mill going for the family business. So maybe if not the Arch Barron, it could be a local land owner or something that has a decent sized forest on his land. I can see him going to a bar, and talking with Cimri. Might think that helping her might be interesting, and depending on what it might be, might help with business opportunities.

  • And I agree entirely about everything you suggested. Sounds like a good plan. Yes, definitely agree with everything you said. Would not want to bother his mother when he was sent out to specifically to do this. And yes, he does believe if he becomes an agent of the Government, thinks that will improve his family's standing, and business. And again, I agree wholeheartedly with what you said.

Silver Crusade

Wow, so many people so far now. And I am not the only magic character any more. >.< Well, I hope I get a chance to play. And with this being my first evil character, I will definitely have to work things out properly.

Though, being on the side of Cheliax should make things flow smoother anyway. ^_^

Silver Crusade

I am watching this with interest, though not interested in making a character. Although, I am wondering what characters will come out from this.

Silver Crusade

Right. Got two characters available to a couple games that I am interested in.

First up I have Alayi AhMheed. A Ifrit swashbuckler for either Legacy of Fire or Mummy's Mask.

Then I got Mary Morrickson. A human Musketmaster Gunslinger for either Rise of the Runelords or Shattered Star.

I hope that either one can get into their respective pbp. Also added these two to the registry document at the top.

Silver Crusade

Male Human Commoner ?

Alright. While this sounds nice and all, I am going to bow out. I thank you for the offer to continue with a game, but it isn't the one I signed up for, so no thank you.

So thank you for the fun, and may everyone have fun.

Silver Crusade

Just updated my character, Alexander Malicdor with the wound threshold system in place. Though I have to say, that figuring it out was slightly confusing at first. I hope I got it all correct for someone that has 11hp.

Silver Crusade

I guess we met in a bar? Or something similar to meet Cimri?

Silver Crusade

Also made a profile for Alexander. Here is the link to the profile with the updated stats all ready to go. ^_^

Silver Crusade

Alright, good to hear that at least. I'll go with reactionary then as the third trait.

Alexander's Background:

Alexander grew up in a high classed merchant family. A low ranking family in terms of Nobility, but was able to call himself Alexander of House Malicdor. Had decent upbringing and is the second in the line of children of the Malicdor family.

The eldest sister is named Reilly. A headstrong woman and devotee of Asmodeous after her father.

After Alexander is Selena. She decided to follow the word of Nethys. Interested more in magic sake, she still believes in her family.

And the last child, Olyssia. A tiefling born and locked away. Yet cared for by mother.

Alexander was brought up to heed the words of Asmodeous and the law of House Thrune. Believing that their word is the law. But it would not last. When Alexander became of age, he found out his own father planned to sell him and his younger sisters to the slave trade for "advancement" of the Family itself. Finding that appalling, he brought the evidence to the authorities. And his father arrested. All of the merchant business that father gathered was transferred to his mother. Not much is known what happened to him, most likely he died. Alexander does not care one bit.

Afterwards, his mother Millian Malicdor sent him to the Academy that his older sister went to before joining the Pathfinder Society. Alex was glad to get away from the failed machinations of his father wrought. He took to his studies with glee, and in order. But when he found out that another student not only copied his theories, but claimed them as their own, he was furious. With help of a imp he bargained with, the both of them destroyed the reputation of his rival and had him expelled. Nearly arrested too, but not enough evidence was forged for that. They split their separate ways afterward.

With that out of the way, Alex continued his studies and was more drawn to Necromancy than Conjuration. While one could bind a outsider and force your will upon it, it wasn't fool proof. But on the other hand, mindless undead followed your commands, no matter the risk to them at all. But he still followed his conjuration studies anyway, just in case.

When his studies were over, Alexander headed back home. And found out his sister, Reilly joined the Pathfinder Society and died. Furious, he wanted to get revenge, but, he knew that she probably died to her own stupidity. His family was notorious for not keeping aware of their surroundings. He simply filed the knowledge away.

With nothing else to do, he follows a request of his mother to head to Longacre, a place where military veterans and others are sent to live out their lives. Or to be silenced. And see if there are opportunities there for business, or favor within the local government there. When he gets there, he is brushed aside from the Lord Mayor and many businesses that refuse to do business due to the current events of the foolish Reclaimation. Annoyed, he visits a local bar and a woman, named Cimri speaks with him. A means to make a bit of money. He nods, agreeing with her.

There is nothing better to do right now. Alexander thinks to himself.

There's Alexander's Background. Academic, meticulous, yet ruthless. But also a bit bored while in Longacre.

Also here is his short background.

  • A short background: Academic. Alexander is learned, and wants to gain more knowledge. He is Meticulous, wants things to be in his order of view. Nice and neat. He also cares for his family and his now two remaining sisters, Selena and Olyssia, and his mother, Millian. He dresses like a typical Chelaxian. Black. with hints of red. Hates his father, and hope he is either dead, or rotting in prison.

  • His Goals: Wants to improve his standing within Cheliax. Wants to also upbringing his family's name, away from the scandal his father caused. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing him become a lich, or a rather good devil binder or Necromancer.

  • Secrets: He kinda wants to reanimate his older sister in some form. He doesn't know what way he would do that just yet. The secret he doesn't know is that his father is very much alive. And possibly wants to bring him down due to him throwing a wrench into his plans. Another Secret: He doesn't know his sister, Olyssia has already joined the Pathfinder Society.

  • His relations: His sisters, Olyssia and Selena. His Mother. Are on good terms with. Possibly his sisters less though due to leaving to join the Pathfinder Society.

His rival he managed to expel from the Egorain Academy. Alexander hopes he dies in a ditch. His father, may he rot forever more.

  • Likes to keep his belongings organized. Will set things out to precisely how he wants them to be. He may hiss or make a 'tsk' noise when he is upset. Views others as beneath him if they are not Chelaxian. But may change his mind if they are 'useful'. Undead are always useful.

Silver Crusade

Right. Here's my application so far with the character, Alexander Malicdor. A Chelish Necromancer/Conjuror. Currently has the traits Apprentice Devilbinder and Diobolical Dabbler with the drawback Meticulous. Still have a trait to go, but I am wondering if I can get the Rich Parent's trait? If not, I'd probably choose something for initiative. Or maybe something for fortitude.

Silver Crusade

Right, I am somewhat interested in this as well. How about a Chelish Necromancer or something? Just gotta get the crunch and stuff down first.

Edit: Btw, this is Telmarni here.

Silver Crusade

This link to the Pathfinder Wiki of the subject might help.

Prophecies of Kalistade

I hope that helps some.

Edit: Sorry, just read it over, and it does not have much if anything related to the regiment of the Kalistades. I know for one that they abstain from physical contact if they can help it. They wear white arm length gloves to prevent themselves from getting... Filthy. There might be more information in the Prestige Class too. Also look for any magic items that might be related.

Edit Again: Here is the link to the Prestige Class with a little bit more info. Prophet of Kalistrade It is from the Archive of Nethys.

Silver Crusade

Going to apply this to a standard character though. So anything works for for me.

Silver Crusade

I am interested as well. And we have access to many pregens so it can be rather interesting!

Silver Crusade

Improved feint makes it go from a standard to a move action. So yes, getting improved helps alot.

Silver Crusade

Yes, that was what I was thinking. Though I haven't thought about 4 different charts. Though that would be more options I guess.

I was thinking that on a 1d100 Percent roll, and depending on what you rolled, you get the effect. Say...

Random: 1d100 ⇒ 100
Well, a roll like that could be quite dangerous.
So then the character would have, depending on what ever it may be, would have to try to overcome it somewhat first.
So.. Maybe a few squares next to her appeared a fearsome creature, of course still a dummy, and lunges at her. Maybe to swallow whole?
So the person crossing might have a few options to beat that encounter. Acrobatics? Jump onto the head before it can bite, which would be a high DC to beat. While jumping to the side would be a lower DC, but it might also set off another square too. Or might be able to use a different skill or ability entirely!

So having four different lists sounds like a good idea. I'll have to think on that.

Silver Crusade

I have an idea for a platform that in fluff, was made by a rather powerful Wizard that followed Irori. He made it to test, and train future monks at the monastery he lived at. Now, I am trying to figure out how to implement it as a functional magic item. Care to help me?

So far, here are the ideas I have so far.

  • The platform itself would be 50ft, by 50ft.
  • It would react depending on how each 5ft square was entered. Say, what would happen if one stealthed across versus using acrobatics, or just muscling through.
  • Would have various reactions based on the method of crossing. From maybe a dummy popping up from an adjacent square, to having a splash effect happen. Or even ejecting the target off the platform, to dropping them into a... Not too deep pit.
  • Might include pushing or pulling effects into other squares with other skills required to overcome.
  • And of course, the non lethal damage would have to be based on percentage, and not by level so that anyone, has a chance to not be K.O.ed when trying to cross it for the very first step. Unless it was a very unlucky percentage roll.

So what do you guys think? Care to help me figure out how to do this?

Silver Crusade 2/5

I have seen a Kyra get bitten in half in a round. It was the Watcher, and was one bite, and that is all Kyra got to do.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Was there also a necromancer that is level 20 as well?

Silver Crusade 2/5

You could also try the sage familiar archtype. It gains the ability to speak a language per charisma ability. So at least a charisma of 12, your familiar can speak and understand one language. And that is any familiar.

Edit: Sorry, I got that wrong. It is the Ancestor's spirit of the shaman that gives the ability to speak to its familiar. My apologizes.

Silver Crusade 2/5

I don't know if having as a pet would be wise. That would open up many casters to having a pet when they most likely didn't need one. And also, what happens when anyone happens to get a scroll of Command Undead on a mindless undead?

I got a feeling if you want to have easier access to undead, either look into the Robe of Bones and the aforementioned spell, or see if you might reduce the price of onyx.

Though in my opinion, everything is fine. Casters still have its smelly toy, and there isn't going to be a sudden pet rush of smelly things.

Silver Crusade 2/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I know there are dead horses laying about, no one said anything about a herd!

Silver Crusade

From what I understand about the Soulbound Puppet, is that it is more of a short duration spell deliverer with a couple added bonuses.

And some options are not good in combat honestly, where most of those other bonuses are only good for certain skills. And the initiative ones would only be useful if it was already out before combat started, which is unlikely.

Who says that the scribes are not just criminals that had no chance of being "free"? I mean; "Oh look Mr Murderer, you did these unspeakable things. So because of that, we're going to cut out your tongue and sell you to the Society for your crimes."

Silver Crusade

Male Human Commoner ?

Thanks. And yup, I remember you. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Human Commoner ?

Dot dot dot! Erm, that is not code, because I don't know what that would mean. >.> Anyway, I am thinking of a wizard/rogue going into Technologist. With the background of... Someone from the Pathfinder Society that heard of what happened in Torch! And came to investigate.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Considering all the legendary Pathfinders out there, why not use the wayfinder as a focus? There are bound to be many legends just connected to that one item. And Pathfinders have been all over the world too. So maybe that might work?

Silver Crusade

Hm, I am interested as well. Though I guess my character Telmarni would be a bit out of place due to there being a Magus already. I'll see what I can come up with to suit your team.

Edit: What is the standard build rules for your game? Is it 20pb or something else?

Silver Crusade

Cool, this sounds very interesting. So what would the build guidelines be?

Silver Crusade

I am curious in this as well. I have heard of Fire Emblem, but never had a chance to play it. What would the story of your campaign would be like? Would it be a simple adventure fare, or something more?

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I heard some strange snippets while playing PFS, but I have to say, that your improv sounds like a nice beginning to an adventure.

Silver Crusade

Hm, that class you are making sounds interesting. What is it like?

Silver Crusade 2/5

I once saw a group of half orcs named, Ruff, Tuff, and Buff(Their leader), with an honorary member called Snuff the gnome. Was fun watching them go.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Well, it won't be any worse that the Master Chemist PrC, with their dual personality. Though looks like there are four paths to take, so looks interesting enough.

Silver Crusade

I got an idea for a ifrit swashbuckler that I am interested in playing. This will be my first PBP and I hope to join in.

Silver Crusade

I'll see about a character for Mummy's Mask!

Silver Crusade

The one I would like to play most out of those three is Mummy's Mask. I got a couple ideas for characters already rattling around in my head.

Silver Crusade

I'm interested in any of them. I really want to try going through an AP for once.

EDIT: Ah, I guess I will also add myself to the general list on the player recruitment sticky.

Silver Crusade

This looks like it is a great idea! I'll see about making a character for Kingmaker that I have been thinking of.

Silver Crusade 2/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I concur with Nefreet. Hero labs just makes it neat, but you still need to check the rules before, during, and after, building your character.

Silver Crusade 2/5

I can see Unnatural Lust and Eldritch Conduit in addition to Touch of Idiocy. Eldritch Conduit on the target first, then Unnatural Lust the same target and point out the caster in the back, then you can cast Touch of Idiocy, which you can originate from the target of Eldritch Conduit!

Silver Crusade

Or the trait Heirloom Weapon (Prof) And get it for Katana.
