Prohibitions of Kalistrade

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

Hey,
So I'be been working on a concept for a Prophet of Kalistrade (Using the Mesmerist class) and just wanted to know more about the non-religion. I know the prophets have a bunch of prohibitions on general conduct... but very little is spelled out. Any thoughts on what the rules are? Things like sex, marriage, trade, violence (do they abstain from bloodshed?), diet, etc? I'd love to see the cult expanded on, it's a fun idea. As an aspiring Kalistocrat I need a clearly defined set of expectations. Golarion isn't going to buy itself!

Any resources I may be missing?

Silver Crusade

This link to the Pathfinder Wiki of the subject might help.

Prophecies of Kalistade

I hope that helps some.

Edit: Sorry, just read it over, and it does not have much if anything related to the regiment of the Kalistades. I know for one that they abstain from physical contact if they can help it. They wear white arm length gloves to prevent themselves from getting... Filthy. There might be more information in the Prestige Class too. Also look for any magic items that might be related.

Edit Again: Here is the link to the Prestige Class with a little bit more info. Prophet of Kalistrade It is from the Archive of Nethys.

Faiths and Philosophies contains the honor code for the Kalistocracy. This subsystem gives you a LOT of information about the value of actions for the faith.

I'd also check out the $yndicate convention of the Technocracy in Mage: the Ascension for ideas. Its an old World of Darkness game, but the $yndicate is all about economic techno-magic, namely with entropy/luck and "prime" (the fabric of reality/mana).

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I've updated the PathfinderWiki article on the Prophecies of Kalistrade with content from the Faction Guide (prohibition of tattoos), Paths of Prestige, and Faiths & Philosophies!

Unfortunately, I couldn't find specifics on many of the prohibitions; very little more specific than "many meats" or "most sexual activity".

Liberty's Edge

Thanks everyone! Yea, I looked at the Wiki, the prestige class, and read the Armored story by Stephanie Loree. I'm glad there is more in the faction guide and F&F! Looks like global economic conquest is underway!

I don't think that there are any prohibitions about bloodshed in the Prophecies, mostly because there is an NPC in a PFS scenario who believes firearms to be the ultimate tool of a Prophet of Kalistrade: They're prohibitively expensive, thereby cementing themselves as a status symbol, and they keep you from coming in contact with people by killing from a distance.

Obviously this is anecdotal and may be contradicted in the future, but it's the 2cp I have to throw into the ring :-)
