I am very interested in this book. I've started implementing both Ultimate Intrigue and the new Horror book into my campaign. I want to see what this book has to offer, and if I can apply it to the game I'm currently running. In a city where assassination is common, there are bound to be a number of people haunted by their past. Also, I am really interested in the Harrow Medium. Is there any chance that it could get it's own book, like an expanded Harrow Player's Companion. ![]()
![]() Heh... I've been bring my tablet everywhere, these last few days. It doesn't download well on it's own, so I have it at the ready to conect to my computer and move the file to the tablet the second that it becomes available! I so need this book. :-) This and Legacy of Dragons are going to have a few influence in the next phase of my campaign world. ![]()
![]() Linnworm half dragons could be interesting. ~IF~ they were to introduce a series of "Pathfinder Dragons", I'd like to see some dragons from Arcadia, the "India", and "Arabia" locations. I notice that every bestiary, they introduce exactly 5 dragons. I think that's awesome. I believe if we're going to get another Bestiary next year, it will probably have 5 more dragons. That being said, I would believe that a Golarian only book of dragons would probably just be a specific number of named dragons and no new species. It may have some character and GM options, but nothing new true dragon wise. I doubt, though, that we'll see a lot of information on having dragon companions, dragon steeds, dragon lances... oh... wait... Anyways, one thing I would like (which is from the old 3.5 Dragon Magic book) is the idea of "dragon mentors". It would be cool to see benefits of having a dragon mentoring a spell caster, and then sending that arcanist/witch/sorcerer out into the world (perhaps to serve as a spy, or to further the dragon's interests). ![]()
![]() I think the lack of focus on dragons is somewhat intentional. The "other" game even has Dragons in it's title. They released the newest edition with a dragon-centric storyline. I believe it ill be years before we see a Dragon based AP. I would love something like an "Ultimate Dragons", maybe with some new dragons, and dragon focused archetypes (dragon spirits for both Shamans and Mediums; dragon patrons; mythic dragon based path abilities, like changing into a dragon!). I'm exceptionally excited about this books! All things considered, though, I suspect that Pathfinder is trying to distance itself from the Other Game. Of course... there's always Starfinder. Dragons... In... SPACE!!!!!!!! ![]()
![]() I agree with the hopes for love for the Spiritualist, Medium, and Shaman. I think there's some good potential with this book, but I'd like to see more of what might be included. Some possible ideas:
Just some random thoughts. ![]()
![]() Here's some things that I would be interested in: A Draconic Pupil archetype for either the Wizard, Occultist, or the Arcanist, basically someone that studied magic at the foot of a dragon. More options for having dragons as cohorts. Maybe something to allow drakes to be mounts? A Dragon-Style fighter, brawler, magus, monk, swashbuckler, cavalier or samurai. Some martial love, not for slaying dragons, but for emulating their fighting spirit. Additional options for sorcerers with dragon as their bloodline. There have been a number of additional dragons introduced, maybe some options for Imperial or Esoteric dragon blood? I like the Dragon Oracle idea. Maybe also a Dragon spirit for the Shaman, and a Dragon spirit for the Medium?? Those are somethings that could be cool. ![]()
![]() Another possible alternative is to take Leadership and take the dragon or psuedodragon as your cohort. You don't get all the benefits of a familiar, but it does get to level. To be honest, though, what he is describing is closer to a Summoner's eidolon, instead of a familiar. If he were to multiclass as a Summoner, and shape his eidolon into a dragon, he can level it up and do all sorts of "pokemon" things with it. That's actually how I see most Summoners in my games. Either their genie binders, angel or demon/devil bound, or they're pokemon masters. ![]()
![]() On the chain of what could be cool in this type of book...
Spiritualists that are "soul binders", their phantasms are actually souls that they've stolen. They hold them for a while, force them to do their will, then the magic fades, the phantasm flees (attacks), and the soul binder is off to hunt down another soul slave. A "demon binder", fleshing out summoners who enslave devils and demons as their eidelons. Monk "demon wrestlers" - Monks/brawlers that specialize in wearing spiked armor and grappling (there's actually a martial art about this). It's a style that's supposed to be based off of how real demons and devils wrestle. It also specializes in doing "Dirty Tricks" while fighting. Maybe some Mythic love, with some "evil" path abilities... instead of "Crusader", "Tyrant" (followers, but you have to occasionally put down rebellions)? Infernal Mentors? Maybe bonuses to having an evil outsider teach you something... with a cost? There's just a few ideas. ![]()
![]() Things I would like to see in this:
A Shadow Mystery (for Oracles)/ Spirit (for Shamans) An arcane school for Shadows (not as a subset of Illusions, but as it's own Elemental school) A shadow tainted Spiritualist archetype. I know that there's a void kineticist, but perhaps a shadow? A shadow bloodrager bloodline. Those are some ideas I'd like to see in the book. ![]()
![]() On a more practical side, my GM had stalled out. She's running an Occult based game, she got the Occult Bestiary, but all that had done Is actually reinforce the stall. She now says that this book may help remove the block. If I pre-order this book, any idea what the soonest it would be for me to get it? ![]()
![]() Don't know if this has already been addressed previously, but are there going to be more "racially focused" class options. The ARG has sorcerer bloodlines, archetypes, and the like. Are we going to see any new ethnic based archetypes or player options, especially for some of the hybrid classes, like the Bloodrager and the Shaman? I know that there's a lot of talk about how much emphasis is put on this race or that race. When I run, I love having as many races as possible to include in the game, but my real joy comes with class options. Oracle Mysteries, Bloodlines, Arcane Schools, Monk "schools" (archetypes), all these kind of things bring me a lot of happiness. ![]()

![]() My wife is in the process of making a game where the focus is the apotheosis of one of the players becoming a new god of dreams in the campaign world. I noticed there's talk about the Dream Realm. Do we know if there is going to be anything like a Dream, Occult, or Psychic domain for clerics? Also, I found the occult mystery, is there going to be a dream mystery, or similar for both the oracle and shaman? I have convinced my wife to hold off running the game, until the OA book comes out. I just can't wait for this book. ![]()

I can see what you're saying. Understand, what I'm trying to get across is the fact that when my players (who actually have not played Pathfinder much) are handed the books with the character classes in them, they can open up a book, look at the title of the class, the level break down, and possibly the first paragraph, and decide if they're going to want to play that character. This is how it normally breaks down. Player 1 (doesn't know what they want to play)- flips through the book until they find something that attracts their fancy Player 2 (doesn't know the class, but has an idea) - flips through the books that has classes that are similar to their idea, and then goes from there. Player 3 (has a definite character they want to play) - goes straight for the book they know the class is in. The thing is, the two players that are flipping through books are going to see the Vigilante and not want the hassle. The same happens with the Shaman class. While it's a very cool class, it's just too much "stuff" to keep track of. You have to WANT to play a Shaman. I think the Vigilante is going to be one of those classes that you will have to WANT to play. You're not just going to pop open the book and go, "Oh! I want that bundle of paperwork!". Also, so far what I have seen, I think can easily be approached through either rogue, swashbuckler, inquisitor, or monk archetypes. I just am not impressed with it at first glance. I will take a better look at it later, and maybe my opinion will change. ![]()
![]() OK, I'm at work, so I don't have a chance to dig deep into the character class, but already I've noticed something. With the Occult playtest, I was in a similar situation, I gave each class a quick go over, less than ten minutes, as a whole. I think the only class I saw that I wasn't quite sure about was the occultist. It looked complicated and I had a hard time wrapping my head around it, in the quick overview. I will admit, it's shaded my opinion of the occultist ever since. I'll be interested to see what changes in the final version. Perhaps it will overcome my first impression of the class. That being said, I looked at the vigilante class, quickly. I'm sorry, but what the...? This class looks way too complicated to introduce in a standard game. It's a rogue like character, that can also be a fighter, or a ninja, or a wizard, or a paladin? I mean, the customization can be cool, I guess, but as a start out the gates "build"? I think it falls flat. It looks, so far, like the class is trying to be too much of everything all at once. It's the very definition of power creep when it comes to character classes. I'll have to give it a once over later, but the lack of focus to the class really turns me off from it. ![]()
![]() What I would like to see from Super-Genius in the coming year are some of the following: 1) More on Words of Power. I haven't bought this supplement yet, but from what I've read in the reviews it's one of the finer products you have. I'm a huge fan of Power Word spells in general, and as soon as I get the chance, I'm adding this to my collection. 2) More books like The Vile Magic of Argonax the Mad. The idea of a collection of thematic spells and items all bundled together. I know that the 7 Sins are kind of over-killed on a regular basis, but maybe themes along those lines. A book that is a combination of a Super Genius Magic and Items book, all focusing on the same theme. Possible Theme ideas could elaborate on elemental magics (earth, wind, metal, void), or even more on Dream magic and orienomancers. 3) A compilation of Bullet Points. I like them, but I I think I'd prefer them in a bundle or something... maybe a subscription? 4) More of the Races books. Or a write up for the existing races like was done for the Advanced Races Guide, though, that is kinda how they are already set up. Those are my ideas for now. ![]()
