The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"As you say, our options are few. I think we need to risk it"

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya turns to his companions

"What do you want to do with these morons? I'd like to know why they attacked us but they don't seem to want to say. Or maybe they really don't know much. Just let them go, kill them, or take the time and effort to get the authorities involved? I'd vote to just let them go but I really don't care that much"

He then indicates the screeching woman

"Can anybody calm this screeching maniac down, or charm her or something?"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

I will use smelling salts on the mercenaries. Lets question them separately in order to determine WHY they attacked us.

Oh. First, of course, loot the bodies to the ground :-)

Not sure if you want to do this by actual diplomacy and such at this point. I'm easy either way.

"So, you attacked us for absolutely no reason, after we'd tried to talk to you. We could turn you over to the guards but that involves SO much tedious paperwork. Perhaps if you were to tell us exactly why you attacked us, who hired you, what your orders were, etc we could see ourselves free to just letting you go"

intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya takes a 5 foot step.

"Surrender and live. Do ANYTHING else and I'll put you down like a rabid dog"

He is actually NOT planning on killing her.

Not sure if you want an intimidate check, especially since he is NOT using a standard action. In case you do:

intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

He then readies to attack her non lethally with his sap if she does ANYTHING other than to surrender

Following include prone bonus:

attack: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 4 = 28 for damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
Crit confirm roll: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 = 17 for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya is on slow play. No day job

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya will draw his sap and whack the woman in front

sap: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 for non lethal damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
bite: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 5 = 19 for lethal damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
bite confirmation: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 5 = 16 for lethal damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Darn. My allies moved where I wanted to go. Again

Shallya just double moves to where indicated on map. Does NOT provoke.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

I guess I'd better get out and help, before this turns into a death trap

Shallya takes a double move action (the last half at half speed) and then tries to stealth behind the pillar

stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

"Who are you and what gives you the authority to question us? We didn't find anything here, nor were we looking for anything. We were just paying our respects to Zimpar. He was born in the same village that I was"

bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Obviously they know where am I since I am talking to them but I remain behind the block of stone where they shouldn't be able to see me

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya would have accompanied the others into the rough area but seeing that it was apparently safe.

"You check this out. I'm going to go back to the entrance and make sure that we aren't surprised"

He then returns to the mouth of the tunnel and tries to hide himself, keeping a look out for any trouble.

Take 10 on stealth for an 18

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"Ah ha. I found something here. Everybody get ready"

Once everybody is ready, I write "Wiffle" on the chalkboard.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya will join the others and carefully examine the alcove.

Take 20 on perception for a 23 (24 vs traps). He'll pay special attention to the nameplate.

After examining the alcove and only if he doesn't discover anything of interest he will say wiffle.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"You're absolutely right. Let's head there then.

Janira, is something going on there today that is of interest? Sounds like some poor idiot is going to try the Test?"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"we're here. Let's check the wall of names"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"We need to know what message was on the coin. Lets go back to the Grand Lodge and borrow somebodies wayfinder to see what the message is. Perhaps then it will all make some kind of sense"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya goes to back up Calcifier and also does a quick once over of the room

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 +1 vs traps

I HATEs this dice roller. Hates it I does :-)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"No, the bugs have gone. If they were ever here at all"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"The gnome is just an illusion. Ignore it. Even if you can't see through it you can trust me. Us Kitsune are experts at detecting illusions. You can trust me"

Diplomacy or bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 +2 if bluff

I'm lying about Kitsune being experts on bluff but I'm telling the truth that they can trust me on this. Not sure if that is bluff or diplomacy. But with that result it probably doesn't matter :-)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya stands up and tries to shake the gnomes hand, grabbing it the next time he waves at somebody.

If the gnome fails to respond:

This has to be some kind of trick

Shallya then heads out and starts looking around the house. Take 10 for 13 (+1 vs traps)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya climbs through the window, ignoring the Gnome.

He then moves to a position were he can see into the front hall, trying hard to stealth behind the desk

stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Are the beetles still present? Are they reacting at all to the shenanigans.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya delays until after Grimm. If he goes in through the door, he'll back him up. If Grimm joins the rest going through the window he will do that too.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya turns to Varg:

"Varg, it really looks like something is wrong here. Gnomes use illusions a lot and its very strange that he hasn't reacted. We're well within our rights to investigate as long as we don't damage anything "

This speech is interrupted by the crash as Tavagra smashes his way inside the window

"Or pay for any damages that we cause if it turns out that he was NOT in any danger."

Shallya mostly believes that. He doesn't think it is WRONG, doesn't really know or care if it is legal. I think that makes it a diplomacy check. If you disagree and think it is a bluff check the result is 2 higher

diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Yells at Tavagra
"You do realize that we have to pay for that, right?"

bluff to pass a secret message to Tavagra that he isn't at all serious about paying: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

I REALLY have to learn to take 10 a lot more. Roll20 hates me

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya carefully hides what he is doing as he fumbles at the door knob.

bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Assuming the 20 is enough :

"Oh look, the door is unlocked."

Shallya then opens the door and again calls out?

"Hello? Your door was open. We just wanted to talk to you and make sure everything is OK"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"Does anybody have a wayfinder? I don't. If nobody has one, I'm sure that we could buy one back at the Lodge."

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya goes up and knocks on the door.

If there is no answer, he calls out and knocks again.

If there is still no answer, he tries the door to see if it is locked.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"Does anybody have any idea what this coin could be? If not, yeah lets go to his house"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya whispers
"Everyone ok if I close off the casket?"

Assuming nobody objects, he puts one of his own gold pieces into the casket and closes it.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya takes a look at the coin and checks the sarcophagus. He is VERY careful to not disturb the bones at all.

appraise: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

To the cleric

"Did you hear that? It sounds like somebody is breaking into one of the tombs. You have to stop them, your duty to Asmodeus demands it"

bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya examines the tomb and sarcophagus.

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 +1 vs traps.

Are there any inscriptions, pictures, carvings, etc?

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Does Shallya recognize the holy symbol? I figure its common enough that hopefully a 10 will be enough

Untrained Knowledge Relgion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Guessing not :-(

"I assure you, we just want to see his tomb. We're doing nothing wrong"

diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

I am actually telling the truth for once, hence it being diplomacy and not bluff :-). It would have been 2 higher if I was lying :-)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"The man that I was talking to at the bar, Aram bin Kaleel, seemed to know an awful lot of Pathfinder history. We could ask him if we get stuck. But I agree with Wailan, first lets see what we can find at the stonemasons grave. I'd prefer to solve this on our own if we can."

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Knowledge local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

I guess I should have paid a little more attention in class

I'll copy down the inscriptions in case they mean something more to somebody else.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya will examine the wall for any hidden slots, especially in the areas around where the 3 names are. And where the name of Eylysia is.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 (+1 vs traps)

"Right. Nothing to see here."

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"The one that you sent us for was corked. So we brought the next one on the list instead. Here it is. Bye now."

bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya will stop off to buy a couple more alchemists fire on our way to wherever we end up going. You can NEVER have enough Alchemist's Fire :-) :-)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

I'm voting for dropping off the bottle of wine, not mentioning the notes, and then continuing on to the Grand Lodge (I think that is closest). But I'll definitely happily Cooperate with the majority if they want to Explore somewhere else or even Report back to Dreng first :-)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya reads the notes

"Trying to find these old notes is going to be a whole LOT more fun than delivering a bottle of wine. Lets drop the wine off and then go see if we can find the notes. I suggest we don't tell anybody, if we do they'll just do it themselves and make us go clean the latrines or something. My people have a saying, "Better to ask for forgiveness than permission". If we can't find the notes in a day or two THEN we can tell the others."

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya watches as the previous flask of alchemists fire continues to burn for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 = 9 points. Thats better :-).

"Hah. Take that you bunch of flying rats."

If the swarm is still swarming, he takes out and throws his second flask

to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Well, that will miss. miss direction: 1d8 ⇒ 1

He then takes a 5 ft step so some other brave person can step in,

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya takes a 5 foot step. As a move action he removes an alchemists fire from his knapsack and throws it as a standard action

Throw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

That might actually hit :-). If it does, it does
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 damage

Woo hoo. I feel so useful :-) :-)

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"Interesting. Did you know that was there? Do you mind if we go take a look?"

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"Nice eye. I'm impressed. Most don't notice. You're right, though, I shouldn't hide who I really am here"

Shallya resumes Kitsune form.

"I appreciate your insights into the Society's past. I can't help but agree that the Society has changed, and not necessarily for the better. While I certainly don't agree with their methods, everything I've heard makes me think that the Shadow Lodge weren't completely wrong in their goals. I was most dismayed to find that Torch was just a posturing bastard out for himself"

Sorry for the delay in replying. I'm happy to either move on or keep talking

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"No, its ever so more important, he is thirsty and needs a bottle of wine. Ah well, I suppose most organizations haze their new members a little.

Thank you, I am a bit peckish. May I perhaps buy you another round?

You knew Vilk, did you? I've heard many a good story about him and some of the antics he got up to. Do you happen to have any good ones to share?"

I don't know or really care if I've ever heard of Vilk, I say the same thing regardless :-). Listening to his stories is going to be way more interesting than going back out into the rain.

My disguise is +17 (not bad for level 1:-))

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya walks over to the Sarenrite.

He currently looks human although NOT in his "basic" human form.

"Hello there, mind if I join you? My name is Shallya. Do you happen to be a Pathfinder? I've just recently graduated and am on a very important mission"

The word "important" drips with sarcasm. Not sure how to do that in PbP

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Join the Pathfinder Society and have a life of adventure they said. Instead we run silly errands for idiots

"Why yes, we'd be most honored to undertake this important task for you sir"

knowledge history: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

"certainly. Always willing to help poor unfortunates" as Shallya drops a couple of coppers into the bowl, being careful to keep his hand on his purse at all times.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

oops. I really shouldn't have done that, should I?

Shallya turns back into a Kitsune

"Thank you very much for that gift. It is very beautiful. I hope that I didn't offend you by that little jest, it was not my intention. I sincerely apologize if I did, If you wish me to return the gift that is fine with me, no hard feelings.

My name is Shallya. As you can see I am a Kitsune. Sometimes our desire to play tricks gets the better of us.

No bluff check as he is perfectly sincere

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Drendle Drang walks up to the two. "So, what are you doing here? Who told you to come here? For what purpose?"

disguise: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22
bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Thanks for running this. And I, at least, appreciate you finishing up the last fight quickly. I think that it had outlived its amusement factor :-).

I'll be continuing to play Shallya but I may tweak him a little. He needs more perception :-).

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Shallya tries to stab the one in front of him. Hopefully his stealth roll was Hugh enough that he isn't noticed

attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
crit confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

concealment, high hits: 1d100 ⇒ 68

"Hah, take that. I told you to surrender".

damage, 1st rapier, 2nd sneak if applies, 3rd crit if applies: 1d6 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (4) + (5) = 14

If goes down, 5ft step. If not, try and stealth

stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
