"I agree hit them while they are in a state of shock and confusion."

I'm with Jonuli, in that the AMF really put a halt on Rune, as she's not strong straight up fighting and does need her equipment for tasks.
Dragon's are a problem for her given it's defenses

Rune will stealthily move to U-18 while invisible

She keeps invisible readying to use her Assassinate ability when the dragon is at it's closest to her.

Will: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38 +6 if Mind effecting

She keeps invisible readying to use her Assassinate ability when the dragon is at it's closest.

Rune readies to attack once Mae's invisibility purge kicks in.

Their shaman, this Tiboquoboc, is what concern me most. The set-up looks to me like this human girl conspired with the dragon and other allies to take over the clan and use them as weapons. As I mentioned earlier, the dragon seems very ambitions for a "CR17"; attacking 2 20th level wizards at their fortress and expecting to win... This young lady might be the motivator for that confidence...

WRT Questions,
1) exactly who is "Their chief, Tiboquoboc and his most skilled companions" that are inside the castle itself. Who's at the camp right now:
A) Bird Lady Yes or No
B) Spider Lady Y or N
C) Frost Giants Y or N
Sounds like the dragon is pretty much out here with just the Chimera's, the orc warriors and the giants (maybe). Not bad odds at all if we can rip the dragon and break off...

2)Are there any junior shamans around (ie Does Tiboquoboc have apprentices around)?

3) A question that we probably can't get an answer for: how skilled are "the greatest of the Ironmaw clan Warriors"? Are we talking Orc vs Orc Barbarian 4 vs Orc Barbarian (N>6)?

I'd add the Question 1's sub questions, Where are they Now?

True, I'd forgotten it, Now we did get that Tiboquoboc died from the Orc, so he might be a ghost and possessed the Sarwal's a teenage daughter.

So what do we have for ghost busting.

Oh crap......
Looks like the dragon might not be then worst thing,
Sounds like a harpy and either drider or Drow are among some of the tough ones.
And we have freaking Giants...

Any questions folks want answered?

Here's some Info Rune would like to weasel out of the Orc;
Who there leader is?
Where is there Orc Leader?
How Many of Orcs are there along with any and all allies?
Are the Orcs working under the Dragon or vis versa?
Camp layout? this'll be useful in sabatage planning
What weapons and supplies they have?
What is the leader's skills and what do they look like?

I'll come up with more questions when I can think of a few others

Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

For suggestion rune would need to be less then 70ft away (still within the 100ft telepathy).
Still a reasonable distance. and she'd plant the suggestion (go privy deep in the woods) invisibly to break him off far from the group and stealthily follow and start using detect thoughts to get a read on his perfect ideal mate.
Then disguise as her and smack him with a charm Monster to make sure he'll be more willing to freely part with information.

---

I'm also asking the group what kind of sabotage they can think of, since this'll be our inside man, and what info they'd like to get.

Telepathy is a racial ability.

And now for the gathering of Info

she'll use Detect thoughts to read some of it's mind, then
Disguise as an attractive target for the target
Charm Monster them with SLA
Then query using sense and detect thoughts to get info.
Then when ready for release, use Suggestion twice
one for suggesting the encounter was a daydream, the other for some internal chaos or sabatage.

Now what Info from the Orc would the group be looking for?
and what sort of fun action should we have him do?

Telepathy is 100ft, so it is close but not to close, and yes she'd likely do this invisible and stealthing.

stealth: 1d20 + 27 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 27 + 20 = 66

Save would be DC 23 will

And the smallest group of orcs is no less then 10 right?

Cause I could splinter one off of a group using telepathy and suggestion
and that suggestion being a need to use the privy.

Rune can find any lone orcs around but she does spot a patrol of ten orcs (all males) making their way back towards the camp from the north side of the castle.

....

Guessing GM meant to say "Can't find" over "can find" here, but want to double check since I know when typing quickly, words can get jumbled and letters are either missing or added.

"Oh I like your spider hole, As I can bet they'll check the town if we retreat."

"I'll see if I can find an Orc outside of camp, and see if I can get some information out of them.
All it'll take is some mind reading and questioning.
It'll help in knowing more about how the camp is set and who might need to be on the priority list among the Orcs."

"When we are attacking it would be best if I could stay invisible as I fight instead of needing to constantly needing to make myself invisible after every swing."

If Rune can find an Orc outside the camp, she'll use Detect thoughts to read some of it's mind,
Disguise as an attractive target for the target
Charm Monster them with SLA
Then query and detect thoughts to get info.
Then when ready for release, use Suggestion twice
one for suggesting the encounter was a daydream, the other for some internal chaos or sabatage.

If Mae can cast greater invisibility on Rune she'll be able to get a large number of sneak attacks in each round and conserve Ki for when it is really needed if we do multiple strikes during the next 24 hours.
Heck she could focus on doing assassinations of problem targets, like the chimeras.

Rune has a few Bug-outs
* Invisibility
* Incorporeal (and keeping Full AC)
* Greater Teleport
* Once all the flyers are down, flight
* Hide among them, disguised (requires being hidden first and some confusion)

But she can only use them for herself.
Though she can give the a alter-self like ability to others with a +2 Stat bonus

Rune's Melee Attack is at +22 (only 4 off from Devlin), she has Sneak attack and all her weapons are +1 (sans the Shuriken) with effects for increasing damage.
Now she does have an AC of 41 she she could tank for a while.

In the Fiendish Codex 1 on page 21-26
A fiend doesn't need Magic Jar or a feat, just Etheral Jaunt, For possession.
Now it does not really list that anything more then; 4 HD, a Cha of 13 or greater; and having Etheral Jaunt.

But I'll let the GM decide on it.

Now The Fiendish Codex 1 has the most detailed covering of possession for fiends in the DnD 3.5 and PF1 rulesets, with Fiend Folio being next in line.

Now for teleport we did get a hint at it from the GM

Ride the blast still works normally but devlin does notice the interference and feels like he might be a few inches off from his intended destination. He feels short range transportation is likely fine but anything further than a couple hundred feet should be avoided.

Which means if you look at it in Polar math, the angel has a minor margin of error, while the magnitude is correct.

Moving post to the more appropriate thread

Devlin Plumb wrote:

Rune, if you want to infiltrate their camp and cause chaos, that'll help, yes. Particularly if you can assassinate the hypothetical other caster involved.

But you should realize what that's getting your PC into. 1) The only person who could potentially come with you to back up your play is Mae, and I'm not to sure she's interested... 2) If the attack on the dragon fails, that leaves you in the camp, with a) the Dragon, b) our hypothetical caster, who's at least 15th level to cast earthquake, c) a lot of orcs - probably a fair number of mid level and up barbarians there, and d) any other high level NPC's or other specials in the camp.
Even if the attack succeeds, you're still in the middle of a encounter who's CR is greater than your level, with only 1 PC. 3) If your exit plan is greater teleport, realize that DireMerc has indicated that the actual teleport spells are gimped...
That said, your PC, your call.

Well I got thinking, since I can Ethereal Jaunt, And I am a demon (though risen), I could *possess the Camp's leader or second in command. Thus if killed there, it really is the host that is killed not me, and could then start really laying in the mind games that'll mess them up.

That and it could be used to create a root of paranoia among the Camp, which could lead to more Orcs being Flat-footed them they'd like.

And Yes I Read Greater Teleport is gimped, but not if you set the destination right with careful thought,
If the offset from Camp to Town is 300 ft, all I need to do is set the destination 300ft above town and fly down.
This means I can appear anywhere from ground level to 600ft above town.

*Refering to FC1 pg 21-26

"Oh I can could make for a very convincing Orc so I'd be right under their noses."

Rune uses her change shape to morph into a Female Orc
Then speaks in a perfect Orcish Tongue and accent
"Я довольно убедительный орк, не так ли?"

Then she changes back.
"I can get in and out in a number of ways, even going through walls."

Orc Tongue:

"I'm a pretty convincing Orc am I not?"

That and her Skills at Bluff and Disguise are Freaking high

"I agree the Dragon is the biggest known threat and the earthquake spell,
I'm guessing requires one with a divine connection....
That is very troublesome...."

"I think it might be better to put some internal confusion and chaos in the camp before we attack it,
so they are less organised in a response to it.
That and if done right we can learn more about the state of the castle from them while they don't know of us."

You weren't the only one looking at the ring of evasion.....
But didn't take it due to having multiple immunities and a few resistances,
and just my luck it's one that I have resistance to....

Better hope nothing has Tremor sense and do a tip off, worse case you attract something that does have it and a burrow speed, like a purple worm.
Oh gravy that would be fun to summon that right in the middle of the camp.

Rune has a few styles of Combat Open (all mostly Melee)
1) Stealth + Sneak atk + Assassinate (either with Balrog or Winter's Breath)
2) Straight up Melee Combat with Balrog or Winter's Breath.
3) If Rune goes big (i.e someone uses Enlarge person on her) she could become a mobile platform for casters, they are on her shoulders (about 28ft off the ground) and she'd likely be using Balrog as the Damage output from once strike could be enough to force a save from death from Massive damage, if no casters then yeah the damage would climb as she vanishes and appears with sneak attacks.
Given the damage for Balrog at Medium size is 3d6 + 9, her large size is 4d6 + 9, and then with enlarge person it becomes 6d6 +10 per swing before the +6d6 sneak attack if flanking or vanishing, and the weapon is also flaming.
Given the damage for Winter's Breath at Medium size is 1d10 + 9, her large size is 2d8 + 9, and then with enlarge person it becomes 3d8 +10 per swing before the +6d6 sneak attack if flanking or vanishing and has both Frost Burst and Shocking Burst along with Keen.

Rune can also disarm opponents, but that is more or less for when she doesn't have her big weapons or any weapon at hand.

Now here is a VERY FUN idea and it would get the Dragon to Work for US for a time,
Let Rune with or without anyone that can infiltrate and speak the Orcish tongue go into camp,
Rune then repeatily uses Either or Both; Charm Monster and Suggestion
and plant the idea that the Dragon would get betrayed by the real leader.
Note She has these as AT-WILL SLAs along with Telepathy for no vocal trace back to her.
All it'll take is a dragon to roll low or a Nat 1.

"If you moving through the earth, then you'd better hope that nothing and sense you moving through the earth, or you'll be in trouble."

"We can't rush to the castle, or we risk being put into a pincer maneuver which means some of use will likely die.
If we weaken the Orcs, it'll mean if we need to get out it'll be much easier then if they are at full strength.
I think we should take out the chimaeras first since they give them air support and they might sense anything sneaky we plan or do.
Then the camp will be weaker to various methods and plans we come up with and use.
The Biggest known problem is that F***ing Dragon."

"But Devlin does raise a point, in that there maybe one that we should
really look out for, but I think they're focused on the castle at the moment."

If GM wants more anime;
Rokka:_Braves_of_the_Six_Flowers
Goblin Slayer (Warning: it is a Dark Fantasy, as bad as Berserk at times)
That and the Manga is Further along then the anime while the light novel series I believe is even further then the manga.
Slayers (5 different TV series, 5+ OVAs, 5 Movies)

"I don't think flight would be good unless we could keep ourselves invisible.
Now the Disguise idea is good, but how is everyone in the Orcish tongue?
And it'd be best to cut off the escape route if we do go down that way."

Rune was made with a few ways of quietly taking out NPCs, that and has 120ft darkvision, better then any Orc and with no Need to sleep really sleep she could pick some off during the night. when they leave camp for the Privy.

And if we wipe out the camp and it is obvious from afar, Rune could do an infiltration, reconing some and feeding them bulls**t, and pin it on Maple.

Rune does have 6 knowledge skills, but not sure what chimeras is under.

Now something else we could do and it'd be funny and do able, is everyone disguises as an Orc and then cause havoc.
As Rune can give a gift that gives a +2 stat bonus and give the racial ability shapechange.
Though it first should be done with those that can speak Orc.

Rune did return back to the group...in post 56

"They have a F***ing dragon, and the camp is like a fortess."

Rune does have tricks to getting out of trouble (but only herself unfortunately) if something did spot her, and I doubt a Lot of Orcs (and very likely all barbarians) can see invisible characters, if there was a threat that could naturally see through it that would of been a stopper.
And scouting is best done in the least numbers, and even if captured she'd likely be able to escape quite easily, and feed them bullcrap and they'd very likely believe it.

A little to far for my liking, at the moment so she'll turn back

Seeing the castle is further away then she'd like Rune turns back to the town to report back to the group what was found.

The invisible Rune decides to check the castle and flies toward it. As she want to know the situation with the castle and to check it stealthily.

Perception: 1d20 + 34 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 34 + 10 = 50

"A question to ask at the moment was if this town was assaulted,
was the castle assaulted as well and if so were the Orcs and Dragons the Victors?"

"It's likely best to check the situation, carefully.
If the Orcish horde is or was the victor.
I don't want to alert them to us if they are in the area,
unless we want a lot of trouble."

"I'll check it out and see what I find out."

Rune goes invisible and starts flying to the castle doing a stealthy recon of the Road to the castle and castle.
Perception: 1d20 + 34 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 34 + 10 = 49

If this module is TKP, then sorry for being a Cautious Hero
But I do want to be a group that makes it to the end.

I thought there'd be more major buildings as a town needs a product(s) for work and income to buy stuff from out of town like from a smith, tannery lumber camp, and or saw mill kinda like in the beginning in Iron Fang Invasion when you need to go through town, it listed like 12 buildings.

"Oh great looks like we'll need to add a green dragon onto the list of what attacked here."

Rune looks over the scale

Know(Arcana): 1d20 + 15 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 15 + 10 = 26

Well I hope they can fix it, if not and you have another older computer lying around I could help you get it up and running again with a new up to date OS that should be easy to use.

If fact my Old Core2Duo system is still running strong and reliably for over 8 years, and is my back up should my main system fail.

GM can we get a list of all the buildings in the town,

And maybe a mark showing it's been visited.

Might be helpful if we knew who had what skills for checks;

Here's Runes

Rune's Skills:

*Acrobatics: 27
b*Appraise: 11
*Bluff: 40
*Climb: 11
*Diplomacy: 32
*Disable Device: 27

As Rune looks about the store she notes the looting and finds the hidden compartment.

"Seems someone was start to hid a bulk of their coin in a secret spot.
I'll make sure these are divided among the party."

When she meets up with the whole group they can see Rune's adopted the form of a 6'2" Elf with likely Fey blood.

"Seems this was well planned, they even Killed those of the cloth in their sleep before looting it.
And the General Store's Owner we smart in that he hid is coin well,
And this is what was found."

She shows the 3 bags of gold and +1 Crossbow and bolt.

"I don't like the look of it, it's very well planned, and executed, we'll have to hope that they aren't coming back or are watching us right now."

Rune wouldn't likely object to Mae taking the amulet,
but it'd need to be in the loot pile first.

Rune seeing a signs of a planned assault inside of hallowed ground says
"Justice will be done."

After finishing with checking the Kirk heads to the General Store to check for any other clues before returning to the group.

Perception: 1d20 + 34 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 34 + 10 = 52

Rune flys to the town invisible, so as not to startle people in it, through as she approaches town she keeps invisible, so as not to alert any possible threats in the area to her presence.

When she lands she enters a building before undoing her invisibility and joins the others for Mae's Wine.

"I don't know what happened here, but it's a mess."

Rune will check the *Kirk for any clues
Perception: 1d20 + 34 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 34 + 10 = 57

*Dutch for Church

Since GM posted, "Rune had a last minute errand to run and will catch up later."
I'll wait til GM gives queue for Interaction

Got Rune Done

you won't be the only one liking to keep her real self hidden from strangers.....
Oh and if you have a Enlarge person spell slotted, I can do something ridiculous.

Rune does have Ranks in Spellcraft, and a number of other skills...

Just deciding on how she'll appear for now...
