Llewela returns Believer's sad smile. "Maybe they're being kept somewhere more secure." she suggests, though not very confidently.
On next steps
Llewela agrees. "Yes, I think going after the weapon cache would be a good next step. In fact, we should try to take the weapons from any other guards we fight - the fewer weapons they have the better. It might be tricky to transport though - we'll need to bring along someone with a wheelbarrow, and we'll need to fix up some safehouses or routes through the sewers to secure them."
---
"Fake names would be a good idea, but maybe we should think of something inspiring? We want the rally the people behind us, eventually." she ponders. "Then again, if we just want to get each other's attention, then we should probably pick something short."
On writing.
Llewela reads over some of the scrunched up papers. The stories she'd heard about the old rebellions mentioned propaganda, but she'd never thought much about how exactly to write it. "This is better than I can do. she offers. "If it was up to me, I'd be scibbling insulting things on the walls. Maybe try writing about the stuff we've been doing to fight back? He might try to cover up what we did at the salt works. Just letting the public know there's others fighting back would be good."
"Garren." Llewela says quietly. "He was a human priest. He was always so secretive, so cautious. He taught me a lot. I’d hoped he’d found a safe place to hide when the fires happened, but...” She trails off sadly.
The offer of the Wasp Nest as a hideout is a welcome distraction and something concrete to focus on..
"I've been worrying over where we could go, the Wasp Nest sounds like exactly what we need. Of course we'll search the tunnels for you and look for your friend."
"It may as well be us." she tells Maccha. "Someone's got to stand up to Thrune and stop him from stomping over Kintargo. We could call ourselves something else, but it's probably better to use the name that people already know. Plus, we have these figurines."
She glances over at Tessa. "Perhaps we should wait for a bit before we head down. Maybe Tessa would like another coffee?"
Llewela listens closely to Tessa's harrowing tale. She had suspected something terrible had happened to Tessa, but hearing the full story was heart-wrenching.
"Oh, Tessa," Llewela says softly. "You don't have to be strong for my sake. I can't imagine the pain and fear you've been through. I'm so sorry you had to endure all that."
Taking a deep breath, she wipes away a tear. "I wish you had told me sooner, Tessa. We’re here for you, and you don’t have to face this alone. With friends by your side, any fight can become easier - whether it's in the city streets, or in your own mind."
She places a comforting hand on Tessa’s shoulder. "We’ll take this one step at a time. I think we should try to get some rest for the night - we can decide what in the morning."
As Believer attends to Tessa, Llewela carefully lifts Aoede and carries her to the adjacent bed, placing her down gently. Kneeling beside Tessa as she begins to wake, Llewela places a comforting hand on her shoulder. Despite the whirlwind of questions in her mind, her immediate concern is Tessa's condition.
"Aoede is here," Llewela says softly, nodding towards the eidolon's resting form. "Tessa, you changed... it was like you became someone else. Are you feeling ok.. yourself.. now?"
She watches Tessa intently, looking for any signs of lingering fear or confusion. "Do you remember anything about what happened?"
Llewela nods thoughtfully as Rexus explains about his health. "Every rebellion needs a range of skills. Your knowledge and resources will be invaluable."
==
While examining Rexus's inheritance, she eyes the ring in surprise. "Are you certain you want to part with this? I don't think we're desperate for money just yet. If the ring holds sentimental value, perhaps you should keep it."
==
"I'd like to contact my parents as soon as possible, but if waiting is safer, then I'll trust your judgment," she says worriedly.
Upstairs
Heading upstairs, Llewela stretches, feeling the weariness of the day and looking forward to getting out of her armour.
But even before she starts to undo the first binding, she startles in surprise as Tessa begins to shake and then Aeode falls to the ground. At Tessa's sudden transformation, her hand instinctively reaches for her weapon, but she pauses before drawing it, eyeing the creature that looks like Tessa carefully.
"Tessa...?" she asks warily. "What's happening?"
"I haven't seen her do this before." she adds in a low voice to the others.
Llewela glances cautiously around the shop as they enter, her eyes sweeping over the patrons and exits. But it seems calm enough, and she allows herself to breathe. Once they are settled in the back room, she listens intently to Rexus, her expression growing more determined with each word.
When Rexus concludes, Llewela leans forward, her voice steady and quiet. "Milani calls us to stand against tyranny. I think we all suffered losses in the Night of Ashes. Thrune may think he's stamped out the rebellion, but a single spark can reignite a fire. You can count on me."
Llewela scowls at her assailant. "Don't say I didn't warn you." she growls.
Her focus is momentarily broken by someone calling. The name of her mother sends a jolt of panic through her. Is her mother here? Llewela glances around frantically but doesn’t see her.
She finally spots Believer who is looking directly at her. Relief washes over Llewela at the sight of a familiar face, but it’s fleeting. She is also under assault, and Llewela's instincts kick back in.
She turns to the thug who assaulted Tessa and swings her adze around to defend her friend
Crunch is in the alias, but he's basically a NG Human Conjuration wizard with a pig familiar. He's local, a semi-retired farmer, and some of his kids still live in the area.
Background:
Iosef was born to poor pig farmers and had a hard childhood. Although he loved hearing about tales of wizards and longed to be one himself, there was not enough money and always more work to do, so his dream had to remain just that. As he grew he scrounged what education he could, borrowing books and pestering visitors who stopped in the local town.
As the years went on, he married a local girl, Florina, and took over running his parents farm after they passed away. Together they had four children - Jaela, Petro, Eduard, and Sanda. As the children grew up, Iosef could see that Petro had the same yearnings that he had, and as Iosef was better off than his own parents had been, scraped together enough to be able to send Petro to apprentice to a wizard in Tamran.
More years passed and the children all grew up. Jaela , Eduard and Sanda left home too, although remained in the area (Jaela married a cattle farmer, Eduard works with crops and Sanda is a barmaid at the tavern) Petro, now a proper wizard, went further afield, but he knew of his father's childhood dream and decided to try to teach Iosef magic remotely. This was not without difficulties, as communication was done via an unreliable post (and on occasion a more reliable but less wordy Sending spell). But Iosef worked hard and eventually learned basic magic.
A few winters ago, Florina took ill and died. Since then Iosef has become a little less outgoing and a little more irritable at the world. He loves his children, and keeps a collection of their gifts and momentos with him at all times.
Description:
Iosef is a late middle-aged human, and stands at 5ft 8. His once-strong frame show the sign of years toiling on the farm, with muscles now softened by time. His face is lined and his eyes, though weary, glimmer with intelligence. His hair and beard, grey now, are worn short and neat.
He dresses simply and practically, in oft-patched trousers and a rough shirt. A wide-brimmed hat shields his face from the sun, and his boots are well worn, but sturdy. When the weather is poor he has a thick brown cloak to protect him from the elements, and he always carries a rough walking stick that has proven useful on a few occasions for defending himself against wild animals.
Nowadays he is accompanied by his familiar, Grizzle. Grizzle has a coat of dark grey bristles and snuffles along besides Iosef on his travels.

"The writing in that first room said something about a wheel to open the gate. If this is the gate, we should find the wheel to open it." Miron offers.
"They destroyed Atlantis, we don't know that they won't try to destroy anywhere else from our world unless we stop them." Alejandro reasons. "And if we can find out more about the weapon, or who built it, there might be a way to get us home. I'm for joining the resistance."
"I don't even know if they were trying to hit Atlantis - it seems like it might have just been a side effect of using the weapon. So I reckon we have to destroy it - who knows which place it might just hit next."
But the other thing is - it must be using the same sort of magic that sent us here - if someone understands it, then maybe it can be changed to send us home?" He shakes his head in frustration.
Hi, this is Gavinia; Oread Warpriest of Alseta, goddess of transitions; doorways, portals, the flow of time. I made her for a RoW campaign a few years ago that petered out kind of quickly, so I'd like to submit her for this game.
A character concept: briefly explain who they are and what they bring to the party.
As a warpriest, she can provide some divine magic, and some front-line fighting. Her community blessing can increase aid another bonus to +4; and she'll be heading towards Bodyguard feat, which will work well with that.
She is stolid and dependable, and is interested in she and her allies working well together.
Backstory: A brief overview of your character's history, showing what motivates them.
Born in Maheto, under the World's Edge Mountains, her earthen appearance (moreso than even other oreads) set her apart from others. After a somewhat secluded childhood, she found solace in the city guard, where she could serve her city and she feel accepted. It was here that she first met followers of Alseta, and their leader, sensing potential in Gavinia took her into the fold. Although she would have been content to remain in Maheto all her life, a trip to a nearby village turned into another trip to a settlement further away, and before she knew it she was an itinerant priest.
She is committed to her goddess's areas of concern and is worried by the strange weather - that the seasons are happening out of order is unnatural and she will want to investigate that.
Why Heldren: Why is your character in the small town of Heldren in southern Taldor?
As a travelling priest, she heads between small towns, performing priestly services where she is needed (repairing and blessing doorways & gates, giving healing and aid to town guards), and taking paid work as a guard/bouncer/mediator when she needs to earn money.
A little crunch:
LN Oread Warpriest of Alseta. Gotta go through and check that the stats and skills & equipment match up with the build rules, but there shouldn't be any major changes.
This is Rabscuttle's submission:
Iosef Vulcar: NG Human Wizard 2

He still loves his children, and keeps a collection of their gifts and momentos with him at all times.
Since the hobgoblin attack at the festival, he is concerned with finding out what happened to his children, and wanting to make the land safe again.
Crunch is in profile, but basically a Conjuration wizard.
question: do you want to do age effects on stats? Iosef would count as middle-aged, I've built him ignoring age effects, but I'd make some minor adjustments if you want to include them.
Didn't have the means to study magic when he was a young man, but did manage to scrape enough over the years to send one of his kids to be apprenticed. Now the kid has been teaching their old man the basics by correspondence.
More recently he's lost his farm to the invasion, so he's set to go forth and defend his homeland. Is concerned about the fate of his other kids (who stayed closer to home and are also farmers and the like)
Personality-wise, he's a bit gruff and grumpy, but he'll step up to do what needs to be done.
Born to a humble bakers, Meiji was set to travel in her parents footsteps. She had a talent for breadcraft, but also had a penchant for creating fire - one of the ways she passed the time was by testing various concentrations of flour to see which could make the most impressive fireballs. After one such incident was large enough to attract the attention of the powers that be, she was surprised to find that rather than being punished for the somewhat extensive property damage (fortunately no-one was seriously injured) - instead her 'talents' had been recognised and she was whisked away for extensive training and drafted into service.
After an exciting career of... emphatically weakening vital pieces of enemy siege weapons, walls and the like, the lack of active conflicts has meant that she has now retired back to her humble baking life. Those outside her immediate family that remember her, assume that her long absense is due to punishment or prison, and Meiji is not inclined to correct them.
Crunch is in profile. Still need to do some minor fiddling with equipment and formulas

Vard gave a start at the spider, before turning his attention to Falroun's bite.
"Blimey, he's a big one. And this is common, eh? Jungle must be good for spiders, even if the rest of us are sweating buckets! Hmm, he did take a fair bite out of you. I don't think it looks like poison, but I trust Alenka and Fain when it comes to poison and animals, and I reckon you should trust the Baron, who's been out here before."
"Looks like you got the best of the spider though, he won't be trying to use your boot as a bed again! And hey, first kill of the hunt!" Vard added with a grin. "He was pretty game though, sneaking into the tent like that! Although, if you take my advice, give up the boots altogether. You won't get surprised again, plus your feet'll breathe easier in the heat."
