![]() My posting on Friday an Saturday may be spotty. I am visiting realatives in Niagara. I turn off net-accessible devices whenever I am down there...my cell phone service providers tends to ding me with expensive international calls and roaming charges when I get close to the border. I just realized that if Cole and Brankh's orison-blessings only last for a minute, we should be using them more often. For example, when checking for traps - or entering and searching a room. ![]()
![]() You're rubbing it in! It's not fair. I'm back in the city and everything is still brown. Nary a flower peaking through the cold mud. But at least the sun's up over the lake. I have some jars of low wines from last summer's mash in the garage...time to dust off the pot still and cook this year's first batch! ![]()

Or maybe everyone gets 7 but the remaining 1 goes "missing". Lol. I wish I could stream audio down to Tickwood and warn that carefree Halfling that a "storm's coming to town." ![]()
![]() There's dark humour in getting your face bashed with a lamp at the dentist! Yikes. I just hope it won't complicate things or cause too much pain. At least HK gets the solace of bourbon whiskey. I can't imagine drinking bourbon with dry sockets after oral surgery "Yeeaaow!" Take it easy, Thorin and I wish you a speedy recovery. Which brings me Thorin the Cavalier's alcoholism. I'm not sure where the thread was going with this - but I am pretty sure there is no Edict for the Cavalier class which causes the alcoholism itself to affect his honour or have an an impact on his effectiveness as a PC. (If he's really enebriated the DM might have to rule something under circumstances I guess) But the Drunken Fighter thing is cool...and I think it should not penalize the character, no? He may have failed to live up to the edicts of an order and so was disgraced (does his previous "discrace" precude him for joining an order at level 1? - up to DM). What is his order going to be? (Order of the Dragon? ...or is he undecided?) And...damn did Brankh..just get whacked for 7 HP?...he did....uuugh! Can't access the Stairwell Encounter ![]()
![]() I sent you an email, Thorin Brankh added a simple club to his own inventory. At doors I propose: Alanthanian opens the door and pulls aside.
![]()
![]() Lets Rock! Thorin: When you click to edit Thorin's profile there will be a text box brlow which you can edit. Just paste your character sheet in it. Later you can tool around to make it look the way you want. Everyone has their own style. Look at some of our profiles for examples. The profile for NitNat Clo-oose has a template character sheet. If you want the template with spoilers built in I would have to email it. It looks like Thorin is surrounded by righteous teetotallers. That'll be interesting. What happens if he runs out of drink? Are we in trouble then? And I like the club. Someone has to wield a bludgeoning weapon. Catila: As long as one of us prepares the orison, we can light up a trinket for you. Do we need just one? I thinbk she should hold the chime. Brankh's Selections: Brankh has picked up some extra oil and torches...just incase we need some fire and light. Fire is good! Longspear and Falchion Fire Bolt (Sp):
Touch of Glory (Sp):
Channel: 1d6 / DC 17. DC17 is quite high for level 1 channeling (Improved Channel/Glory Domain) . 5x/day Orisons - I like Cole's picks - but I'll take something slightly different just to cover more bases
Level 1: Party does not have much blasting - so picked Burning Hands
![]()
![]() Well. The characters will have a little time to prepare before going into the crypt to their doom! I suppose we could role play every aspect of their preparation....but that might get tedious. A little meta gaming is allowed, no? Are we all prepared? With two clerics,a Paladin and some healing potions we have all kinds of healing. But perhaps its not physical wounds we need to worry about down there. Are our psychological defenses up to the task? Here is how Brankh can help.
I think some of you will need torches or lamps. (well, Brankh won't).

You guys take it easy in surgery...and good luck. I'm at home for the next couple of days..so my posts will slow down for a little bit. Family demands take up time. Next week its back to Toronto. I'll be checking from my wireless..maybe my posts will be somewhat truncated (I hate typing on those smart phones). But I'll be here to contribute. I see you have that page up now HKn. You can see it has potential, eh? I found it on the Enworld site. I messed around with one of these when preparing another campaign on the Obsidian Portal. I found that it ended up taking so much time I never ended up running the game. That's the problem with all the gadgets and accessories. They add more tools but create more work. At the end of the day its the forum that matters and the community that plays on it....and I like these Paizo forums...despite the restricted options of the site. At least now we have our own repository for the images, soundtracks and battlemaps of our campaign And its nice to get that background material you put there too ;-). Perhaps as we keep adding stuff it will take a life of its own one day. Thanks for getting it started. ![]()

The links worked well for me. The soundtrack adds an interesting dimension to the experience. I'm not sure what you and Thorin have going on that site....it looks neat. We could create our own site on google sites along the same lines eventually. But for now I would focus on playing. For example: ![]()
![]() Marching order. May I suggest the following for single file? 1. Alanthanian (scouting)
And for 2 abreast 1. Alanthanian (scouting)
![]()
![]() 1. Agree with Saoirse
3. Brankh prefers to stay right behind a leading melee character in a position where he can reach past with the longspear. Tactical preference: right behind frontliners he can offer encouragement, shoot fire bolts, deliver touch healing and use the longspear to reach past. Brankh is a strong channeler, and is also useful in the midst of a group. On a side note: Cole might wish to try using the longspear one day and have Brankh go ahead with his falchion, which is nastier than the longsword at this stage. 4. Agree with Saoirse. Can the photos not be posted in Googledocs as well? ![]()
![]() Sorry for messing up Catila's name! Well, I guess Cole messed it up first. haha Cole, I noticed that one of your listed trained skills is
I think this skill is a vestige from 3.5 rules. Do you mean Spellcraft?
I know +5 is not quite as good as +8 when spellcasting, but Spellcraft has more uses than the old skill Concentration (such as identifying magic etc.. ). I know spellcraft and learning are not Brankh's strong suits as a cleric. His passion, voice and zealotry should make a good complement to Cole's cooler head, skill and indomitable faith. Let me know what you think. ![]()
![]() Thank's Hedgenight. I love playing clerics. Everything Brankh does has moral consequences. Each action puts him out on a limb and forces him to make tough decisions and take responsibility. Its also tough for him because he does not have a sharp intellect and can be overzealous at times. Honestly, I felt ashamed for him when he didn't stand up and fight those slavers. I think he felt ashamed too....but I think he made the wise choice in the end..we`ll see I also am jealous of the other players who already got to hack the limbs off bad guys! lol ![]()
![]() It is sad to leave B.C. I was here helping an ailing relative. But its time to go back. There's good work to be done in T.O. and $$ to be made. And I do love Toronto...especially downtown. Ontario has it own charms with the Canadian Shield at our doorstep (can't wait to jump into Georgian Bay!) I'm sure I'll get my outdoor fix there too. As for Guidance, the rules and the forums I checked are pretty clear. It is supposed to be unlimited. I'm going to be using Guidance a lot! As long as Brankh selects Guidance as a daily orison...I shall make sure that he casts it at the start of each day on himself and his allies....and resetting the charge each time its used. Perhaps the DM has something else in mind....let's see how it works in play. ![]()
![]() Toronto. Although I have been stationed here on Vancouver Island for a while. I'll be returning to the Big Smoke (ie. Toronto) in a couple of weeks. I read the players guide some time ago and am a little gray on the details. I am not familiar with the adventure...but the extra details from the other characters are making it colourful. Most of the information I have is from the Campaign Setting book. Regarding skill checks. I haven't been bothering with making dice rolls for these kinds of things. I just role play what I'm doing and assume AJD will make the rolls. Or he will ask me to roll if necessary. I hope that`s OK. ![]()
![]() I'm on Not-so-Sunny Vancouver Island. In the rainforest on the far coast! At least for now. I'll be heading back to Toronto in a few days. I'll miss the salty tang and the fragrant redwoods. I'm not too familiar with Hero Points...and not sure if they are necessary. But I am happy to go with the flow if most of you and or HK wish to use them. If I have to vote I'll say go without...just to keep things simple. ![]()

I totally agree Khaladon. Great detail, Hedgenight! And I'm sippin on some Sour Mash myself. A toast in your honour. Khaladon, I think Dr.Eyesquint will make a great sleuth. Great character concept! I can't wait to see her in action. I hope I'm not out of place to suggest something. I think you should put at least one rank into Knowledge - Local. The Detective option gives the Doctor Eye for Detail (terrific!) with its bonuses - in exchange for Bardic Knowledge, which would have trained her in all of the Knowledge skills. But as a Detective, Dr. Eyesquint now needs to invest ranks in Knowledge:Local , otherwise the Eye for Detail bonus is wasted on an untrained knowledge skill which is only useful for checks at DC10 or less....unless you wish to invest in local knowledge at a later level. But what kind of sleuth does not have training in local knowledge (and maybe some other kinds of Knowledge as well)? ![]()
![]() Brankh would just have arrived in town I think. His first stop will be the Temple of Pharasma. That was his destination in the first place. Now that he's carting around the body of his dead mentor...he as nowhere else to go. I didn't find hedgenight's email in the posts. Here's mine: nitnatclooose at gmail dot com ![]()
![]() Lots of divine power in this group, eh? Yikes.
My situation is a little different to yours, Hedgenight. I do most of my posting while at work and my hands are often full while at home. I work a 4/3 or 3/4 schedule. My entries are more frequent on my weekdays and tend to dry up on my weekends (which change from week to week). If I miss a day it is probably because I am busy at home. I post at varied hours of the day. I am in the Eastern Time Zone as well. Brankh is ready to take up the challenge! ![]()

Thanks, Hedgenight. I quite agree. I was preparing a character for another campaign and dropped out of the conversation for a little while. We are still looking for a DM, is that right? Are you going to give it a shot? I'm sure I can handle a second player if I post once a day....give or take a bit. ![]()
![]() Thanks for offering Tempestorm. I do think I will be more fun if Mattie is a rogue or bard. As an abjuror she would have been a dour companion...maybe fun for a few laughs...but I like playing more charismatic players. Bard or Rogue- Either way she'll make a great companion to the wizard. If its still OK with you can you play Ezren? As for the backstory. I am still working on it. She came all the way to Sandpoint from her far away home in ....(Andoran maybe?). She's hunting down the cold-blooded coward who killed her old Pa. ![]()
![]() I wish to avoid playing more than one game at a time. And I am slowly putting together a homebrew to run some day down the road. I just committed myself to playing a character in AJ's Dad's Runelord campaign. However. I would make an exception for my cleric. I am pretty excited about him. I feel most comfortable playing clerics...and I really think I put some soul into that half-orc. Let us know if you're starting something here.
![]()
![]() Hello AJ's Dad, I have an idea for an abjuror, if you are still looking for an arcanist. She is inspired by Mattie Ross in True Grit.

![]() I am new to Pathfinder - but not PbP roleplay. I must say I like what I see. I would love to play in a campaign. I recently tried to make a character for desert campaign....I really want to play him...so I contrived a story for him to come to Kaer Maga. I hope you like it. Brankh - Cleric of Sarenrae: A lanky, tall, young half-orc with a face scarred hideously from burns sustained in early childhood. His flowing garments and head-dress are typical of desert dwellers from Katapesh. Simple, gold-hued embroidery and pale fabrics reflect warmly in the light of the rising sun. Despite his frightful scars, Brankh's pale eyes and are expressive and can show a kind concern when gazing good-hearted or suffering folk. His vocal range can resonate with deep bombast or trumpet at shrill heights. Strapped to his back is a huge scimitar (Falchion). Brangk spent his early childhood as a pauper in the filthiest slums of Katapesh. At the age of four he risked his life to rescue a young woman from a great fire which was sweeping through a tenement. Freeing the girl he himself became trapped when the structure collapsed. He was later found in the smouldering ruins - alive by the grace of the Dawnflower's Healing Light. Taken in by the Priests of the Order, he spent the rest of his childhood in the Temple of the Sun - where the ministrations of the healers became for him an education in the healing arts and in the rites of the faithful. But Brangk was a tempestuous boy - undisciplined, big in ego and bold in speech. Not knowing what to do with the young orcish firebrand, the church assigned him to the service of Nehruha - an old surgeon who travelled the world and made a living with his arts. Nehruha took the boy with him as his bodyguard on the long journey to Kaer Maga - seeking ancient knowledge at the Temple of Pharasma. Just a few hours after their arrival in the city - Nehruha passed away from a sudden stroke - it was also unexpected, notwithstanding his old age. Brangk is now left to continue the man's legacy. But first he needs to find employment. |
