![]() The Gunslinger class begins with a starting firearm, but I assume the Trophy Hunter ranger archetype does not, GM? That's fine, it just means I don't have a firearm starting off (because they can't be afforded with starting money anyway.) ![]()

![]() Oh yes, I think I will be playing a ranger. GM, in Pathfinder you can kinda mix and match archetypes a little bit, I think, so long as you don't have any overlap. I've got a concept for a Great White Hunter ranger for the jungle setting. Maybe a mix of the Trophy Hunter & Skirmisher archetypes, but I'm still looking all the archetypes over to find what probably works best. ![]()

![]() The man from Magnimar slouches suddenly, losing what focus he had left. An instinctual worry arises that he might not be able to breathe if he doesn't keep his mouth open, so his mouth opens wide, revealing the tendrils of the yellow creeper amassing in his sinus cavity, a direct route to his brain. He doesn't let go of the blade in his hand, but it does rest limp in his grip. ![]()

![]() Miles looks at the nettles and then at his gloved hands. He reaches out and carefully handles a single vine in a spot with no thorns, testing how tensile the vine is. He spends a moment thinking, and then goes over to the hole, to see how big it is and how much more spaced the vines with their nasty thorns are. Then at last he seems to decide, and walks back to the riverbank, where he promptly begins covering himself with mud. Thick, enveloping fistfuls of mud. It takes him ten minutes or more to properly cover himself with it until he is a sopping mess. Then he finds a sunny spot and stands in it, letting the mud dry just a bit to a caked exterior. "This should provide some insulation against those thorns and their poison. At least a little. Getting those berries could be the difference between life and death for someone if they get an affliction. And the worst I might suffer is a bad rash. It seems a good trade." Miles moves through the area that has something of a hole in it, looking for the berries. ![]()

![]() Hehe, I know the feeling, Grimma. GM, is there anything that can be done on our end to improve their will saves against despair? ![]() Miles asks if he could use one of Grimma's axes with the dinosaur body. If she's not as willing to relinquish it, he'll let her have at the dino or take one axe while she takes the other. Using his rope, he hangs the dinosaur from a tree about two hundred feet from the camp and first disembowels it. He then takes the offal down to the shoreline and washes the intestines out. Most of the offal he leaves there, but he brings the intestines back and hangs them from a nearby tree to dry in the afternoon sun...or be eaten by the local wildlife, whichever comes first. Any dried intestines that remain might be used for something. Socks, most likely, if it keeps raining like it did the night before. When he returns to the site of the dinosaur he strips the hide off and lets some of it bleed off into the closest thing they have to a basin, and then hacks off the limbs and shaves the meat from the bone, never doing anything to disturb the poison sacs. Finally, he takes the carcass and the blood basin and disposes of them again away from the encampment. Then he lays out the strips of dino flesh over a fire to smoke. When everyone is nearby the center of camp, Miles takes it upon himself to inform everyone. Because it does concern everybody. "Yesterday while we searched the island, we found a temporary shelter on the beach. Captain Kovack's hat was there," he says, waving the tricorner, "and some evidence that she was with him, as well. They went deeper into the jungle, but it was getting dark and we couldn't keep following. So, at least for now, it seems the Captain may still be alive. I'd like to go and find the two of them before they get into more trouble. And because I know we all have a lot of...questions." ![]()

![]() Three hours later, Miles is up to perform an uneventful watch, and afterwards sleeps until sometime after sunrise, when the noise in the encampment creeps into his blissfully dreamless rest. First, he uses whatever water they have to rinse his mouth out, and then checks himself for any little bugs or creepy crawlies that might have gotten onto or, worse, into his clothing and boots overnight. Satisfied, he unpacks the coconuts he and Grimma had gathered from the tree and tosses a couple towards Aerys. "We found some coconut trees yesterday and I thought of you. Just be careful not to crack each coconut and pour the milk all together. If one of 'em is bad, you'll pollute the whole mix." He also lays out the canvas and the chain that they found, as well as looking over the dinosaur they killed. Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 to see if he can successfully cut that meat out without breaking the poison sacs and ruining the whole thing. ![]()

![]() Miles might appreciate the beauty of the phytoplankton more if not for the fact that he was wounded by a dinosaur and was now dragging its corpse on a canvas, drenched in rain, hungry and sore all over. His life in Magnimar had mostly been waiting for the next job to come along at which point he would wait until the sun went down and then take his sweet time breaking down barriers between some poor sap's coffers and a Scarzini payout. Even when he left and was on the ship, it was a bit of manual labor through the day to keep things clean and running efficiently. But out here, the constant walking, climbing, sweating was not sitting well with him. Though he did not complain at all, he was still unaccustomed, and just looks at the glowing water with weary eyes and looks forward to getting back to camp. Hoping all the while that the camp and all of its occupants are still there. ![]()
